Summary:

Sad boy hours, Bennett and Razor running through the woods when bad luck strikes

Notes:

this is my very first ever fanfiction, so go easy, and maybe give me some advice if you feel like it

Work Text:

It was a stormy day, Razor and Bennett were on the hunt for a rabbit. Between the flashes of lightning and crashes of thunder, Razor with his sensitive nose and ears was hot on its trail. Bennett on the other hand, was struggling to keep up, getting caught in the branches of bushes that his companion went past with ease.

Razor was hot on the rabbits trail, when a bright flash of lightning struck a tree overhead, Bennett seeing it was bearing down on his long time companion and lover acted as fast as he could, diving for Razor and pushing him out of the way.

Bennett dove and then saw black for a brief period, the white haired boy blinked trying to clear his hazy eyes, he realized amidst his confusion that he could not feel his legs… in fact, he could barely feel anything. He looked around and caught those beautiful crimson eyes of his partner full of fear, distress, and worry.

“B-Bennett? You okay? Is Bennett okay?” Razor stuttered out coming closer to Bennett’s head. Bennett tried and tried but ceased to make a sound, just pained sounds of fighting for breath. Bennett looked at Razor his eyes full of what? Love? Pain? Grief? Whatever emotion that was portrayed in Bennett’s eyes were dimming, fading away like the prey’s eyes he’s killed with his wolves.

“Bennett? Bennett?!” Razor cried, he of all people can recognize the look of death on somethings eyes, and Bennett’s eyes have it all… Razor with all he could muster tried to save his friend, he thought that maybe… maybe he could save him? Maybe he isn’t gone yet? Razor tried and tried to move the tree off his companions body but couldn’t, the tree was to heavy… as each attempt failed, Razor became more and more aware that maybe he couldn’t save his lupical… the thing he swore to protect the day he received his vision, with one final heave full of grief and anger Razor tried to move the tree, as he pushed he felt the mud helping him push the tree off of his lover, when the tree was off Razor ran to Bennett’s side… but it was too late… part of Razor knew it was too late… but another part of him believed he could’ve saved him…

As a boy raised by wolves, he is used to the traditions that those of his family do when mourning, Razor got up and started to pace head down and whimpering and sobbing in the rain… soon day became night and Razor grew tired… with the last of Razor’s energy that he had left he picked up his lover and carried him all the way to a cave, a cave that Razor and Bennett stayed in sometimes when weather was rough… Razor lay Bennett on the makeshift bed that they made together… and Razor curled up beside his lover, his friend, his lupical… Razor soon fell asleep but that sleep was fitful, filled with night terrors of what happened…
