Bandaid - OMORI OCs

Summary:

Debby's first day at her new home, Faraway Town! What kind of endeavours will she get into?!

Notes:

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!! FELIZ AÑO NUEVO!!! 明けましておめでとうございます!

I am sorry for taking so long to upload this. I was planning on releasing it on the first days of 2023 but unfortunately, I had some things to take care of that made me unable to...

Either way! Welcome to Bandaid! An OMORI Fanfic I've been meaning to write for a while! I'd like to say a few things before we begin. First of all, this fanfic is going to be led and centered around OMORI OCs, I know this will be a huge bummer to a few and some of you might not like the idea but- I want to make sure to make the story centered about Faraway Town and it's residents- you WILL be seeing a lot of characters from the base game being shown every so often, so I hope you decide to give Debby and Alice a chance. <3

Other than that, I will be mainly focusing on Bandaid and Slumber for the time being! I hope you all enjoy reading this!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

It was summer in Faraway Town, the birds sang and chirped as the rising of the sun marked the beginning of a new day. The rays of sunshine of the sun managed to enter the window of our protagonist’s room. It didn’t take long for them to wake up her up as she slowly moved her eyelids, she would turn away to the other side of her bed as she closed her eyelids, avoiding the sunlight as she tried to sleep more.

The creaking noise of the door slowly opening would dismiss her further attempts at sleeping as a soft and slight high pitched noise could be heard coming from the floor.

“Meow.”

She raised her eyelids once again, this time lifting her head from her pillow as she rubbed her eyes as she had just been awakened from her peaceful slumber.

“Meow!”

The same noise was heard again, it had a higher pitch than before as it wouldn’t take long for this girl to recognize it. It was from her cat, who had already found itself on the surface of the girl’s bed. The white furred cat with black spots moved it’s tail from side to side in a gracious manner, indicating the cat’s happiness upon seeing the face of it’s owner.

The girl’s amber eyes focused on her cat, as the slight smile she had from before grew bigger and bigger as she extended her arms, welcoming her cat with a warming embrace.

“Good morning to you Sean~... You woke me up you little rascal!”

She’d exclaim as Sean accepted the loving embrace. He didn’t waste a single second on receiving his owner’s lovely affection, he leaped as the girl caught him. Wrapping her arms around him as she slowly scratched the back of his ears, his tail only moved more elegantly as a demonstration of his own satisfaction and gleeful mood.

Just as she had begun doing this, a second meow was heard, this one was closer as the blankets moved slightly as the slender silhouette of a feline creature could be seeing trying to find a way out of the covers of the bed. The girl couldn’t find the sight in front of her more adorable then it already was, she’d proceed to aid her friend by lifting the blanket.

Meow...

A noise came from the creature, it’s voice was lower and weaker compared to Sean’s. But it was still as adorable for the girl, she stopped scratching Sean’s ears as she now focused on the other cat, her hands slowly held the slender creature as she petted it.

“Aaaaand- Good morning to you! Kim~”

“Meow...”

Kim’s fur was black with a white end on her tail, she replied with a low and brief noise as a cheerful giggle escaped the girl’s lips. She could play with her friends for hours and hours and never get bored! But- she knew she couldn’t do that today.

She gently placed Kim on the bed as she placed her feet on the floor, getting off the bed before almost tripping on something.

“Huh..?”

Her eyes looked down at the floor as she saw a couple of moving boxes with a variety of sizes. The mere sight of them made her feel stressed out, she had such a good sleep last night that she had forgotten about her being tasked with organizing her room.

This was her first day in her new home after all, she had no other alternative but to do so. However, this didn’t make it any easier for her, if she had a magic wand she wouldn’t hesitate on wishing that her belongings would move on their own and organize themselves.

“Meow.”

Sean rubbed himself on the girl’s leg as she looked down at him, realizing that thinking about this would just be a waste of time. She didn’t want to spend her whole morning fantasizing about things that would never happen. Instead, she had a better idea.

“You must hungry too huh?”

She asked as she picked up the small creature from the floor, she looked at him in the eyes with a smile as Sean’s tail just waved from side to side.

“Meow.”

He answered her question by opening his mouth and yawning. Debby wished she could hug him and Kim for the rest of the day but, just as she thought about before, she had other things to do. For the moment she had to focus on one important thing, eating breakfast.

She’d place Sean on the floor as Kim slowly got off the bed, heading towards Sean’s and the girl’s direction. She would proceed to place her hand on the handle of the door as she opened it, walking out of her room and into the interiors of her new home.

The girl was welcomed by the warm and delicious smell of what she could describe as heaven itself coming from downstairs, bacon. She wasn’t the only one who noticed this, Sean did so too and immediately ran and headed down the stairs as she was amazed by his sudden speed. She knew she had to head downstairs before Sean got there and ate the bacon! She’d kneel down and pick up Kim as she smiled.

“Come on Kim! We can’t let Sean take all of our bacon!”

Meow...

A wild grin formed on the girl’s face as she proceeded to head downstairs as she carried Kim on her arms.

“That’s the spirit girl! Let’s go!”

She almost tripped on the way down from how quick she was, fortunately she had managed to arrive to the first floor without falling. Just as she entered the kitchen she heard a voice-

“Good morning Deborah~ I’m glad to see you awake so early.”

A woman was seen cooking some eggs on the kitchen with a plate of cooked bacon next to the stove, she had a warm smile as she greeted the girl.

“Mornin’ Mom! I told you it’s Debby! But- Mhm, Sean woke me up.. so..”

Debby would reply as her mom couldn’t help but laugh by this, she focused back on her cooking as she spoke.

“I’m almost done with breakfast hun, could you please go feed the cats while I finish?”

“You don’t have to tell me twice!”

Debby would accept her mom’s request in an instant as she placed Kim on the kitchen’s floor, while she looked around for Sean. She found his absence to be odd, but not surprising, Sean’s small size made him quite the perfect candidate for hide and seek as a hider. She knew he’d show up sooner or later, she walked towards the empty bowls of food for her cats and opened the bag where they keep the cat food only to be surprised by what was inside.

...?!

“Meow.”

It was Sean, he had sneaked inside the bag somehow! He was eating some of the cat food inside of the bag. Debby’s eyes widened by this as she immediately caught him.

“Sean?! How did you get in there? You know I can’t let you eat all the food...”

Sean just looked at her as she sighed and placed him outside of the bag and close to Kim, reminding herself to avoid placing the bag of cat food in reachable places for Sean.

Debby would open the bag once again as she served some of it’s contents on the bowls. Kim slowly lowered her head and begun eating her breakfast, Sean was quick to follow as Debby looked at the two as she smiled. It wouldn’t take long for another pair of two cats to arrive, they both had white fur and blue eyes. Their arrival increased Debby’s smile as she placed another bowl of cat food on the ground.

“Max! Dexter! I was wondering where the two of you had gone to~”

She’d comment as the twins leaned down and begun eating, Debby would watch over them for a couple of seconds to make sure everything was okay with them.

The sudden noise of a crystal plate being placed on the table made Debby turn around, her mom smiled as Debby got on her feet and walked towards her.

“Make sure to wash your hands before you touch your food hun”, Debby answered her mother’s reminder with a nod as she headed towards the sink, proceeding to wash her hands with soap and water. A jar of orange juice would be placed on the middle of the dining table by her Mom, alongside two empty glasses and two plates of eggs with bacon.

Debby’s mom would sit down as it didn’t take long for Debby to finish washing and drying her hands. She sat down right in front of her Mom, grabbing a fork and heading right in for the bacon she had craved so much for!

In contrast, her mom begun eating in a more slow and gentle rhythm than her daughter, the two would begin eating their breakfast.

Debby’s mom glanced at her daughter occasionally, opening her mouth as she begun talking.

“Hun, how are you feeling?”

The question made Debby stop her bacon-eating frenzy as she paused and wondered on how to reply.

“Um... Half-full, I’m almost done with the bacon Mom but it’s delicious!”

Debby’s answer would make her mother giggle. She shook her head slightly as she continued talking.

“I meant- How are you feeling about this Hun? I know moving isn’t easy... But, I want to make sure you are happy in your new home.”

Debby lowered her eyebrows slightly as she heard her mom’s question, she couldn’t lie to anyone, she missed the big city and her old home. But, she knew moving away was for the better, being in Faraway Town... was nothing but a new opportunity for her.

Debby’s lips would slowly melt into a smile as she answered her mom’s question with a thumbs up.

“I like our new home! Max, Dexter, Sean and even Kim seem to like it too! I can’t wait to explore and see what this town has to offer~”

A huge chunk of stress had been removed from her mom’s shoulders, she had her own concerns on how her daughter would be coping with moving to a whole new environment.

“Splendid~” She’d answer as she shared a smile with her daughter.

“Did you know this town has a park?”, her mother asked with a grin, knowing how much her daughter would like the news. And she was right, a look of surprise grew on Debby’s own face as she got up from the table. “Huh?! Really? Can I go there? Pleaseeee!”

Her mom would begin to giggle by her daughter’s reaction, figuring that her daughter would love to spend some time in there.

“Well... I have a few conditions for you.”

Debby nodded as she sat back down, paying close attention to what her mom was about to say.

“First of all, I want you to introduce yourself to the neighbors, make sure to be nice to them. Okay?”

Debby nodded.

“Second, make sure to organize your room when you get the chance, you’ll thank yourself for doing this hun. Got that?”

Debby nodded.

“And lastly.... make lots of friends and have fun hun, that’s all~”

She smiled as she finished talking, Debby’s smile just widened as she proceeded to walk towards her mom and wrapped her arms around her, hugging her with loving affection.

“I-I definitely will mom!” Her mom would return the hug, enjoying the affection provided by her daughter.

And just like that, Debby would finish eating breakfast, heading for her room as she looked around and tried finding something to wear.

She headed towards the closet and opened it, with an excited expression as she contemplated on what to wear on her first day on Faraway, she wanted to look as good as possible.

Her mood faded away as she realized the closet was empty, the absence of any clothing reminded her of something important, she hadn’t organized her things yet. The only thing she could find were all the moving boxes filled with her belongings, she couldn’t help but feel soured by this.

Debby looked at the clock and realized it was around 10AM, if she organized her things now she would finish by sunset and she wasn’t a fan of the idea of spending her first day in her room with her belongings.

Just as Debby wondered on what to do, she heard a noise coming from one of the boxes, Debby’s hand held it as she opened to see what could be inside, it was Kim. The box inside was filled with some of Debby’s favorite clothing. A smile formed on her lips as she held the slender cat and petted her.

“Kim! Thank you so much for the help~”, she’d exclaim as Kim closed her eyes and enjoyed the petting she was receiving.

Debby begun looking at her different clothing, wondering on what she could wear for today.”

“Hmmm... Let’s see.... purple.... blue... black...white....”

She listed and begun organizing some of her clothes as she tried thinking on what she could wear, she knew that the more she thought about it, the more time she was wasting, and time wasn’t something she could afford to loose.

Right as Debby was starting to stress herself out with this, the flaming and noticeable color of a red piece of cloth caught her eye, she looked inside the box and proceeded to pull and take it out of the box. She saw what it was as her eyes lit up, it was one of her favorite pieces of clothing, a bright scarlet long sleeved blouse she had. It had a cute drawing of a cat in it, Debby would hug it as she closed her eyes.

“Perfect!”

It took her a few minutes but she was finished, she looked at her reflection through a hand mirror she had as she admired the final result of her hard work. A scarlet long sleeved blouse with some dark jeans she had in a separate box. She couldn’t help but love the combination of red and black.

Debby would place her hand gently on Kim’s head, the feline was resting on the edge of her soft bed.

“I’ll be back in a few hours~ Watch over Sean, Max and Dexter for me okay~”

Meow...”, Kim answered with a low noise as Debby giggled by it.

She would pick up her cellphone and leave her room, running down the stairs once again as she almost tripped. She reminded herself to be more careful with the stairs.

“Mom!”, she called out for her mom as she arrived at the first floor and begun looking around. Debby quickly entered the kitchen and grabbed some leftover bacon she had left from her breakfast. “This will be a useful snack for later~”, she’d comment as she picked it up and wrapped it on some tissue.

She left the kitchen and saw the pair of cats sleeping peacefully on the still wrapped couch, she continued looking around and saw her mom opening a few boxes and placing it’s insides around the house.

“Oh Deborah, are you heading out now?”, she’d ask as Debby nodded.

“It’s Debby! And mhm! I’ll be checking out the park~”

Her mom would stop her as she walked over to her purse, opening it up and taking out some cash, handing it over to her daughter with a smile.

“Here’s your allowance dear, make sure to have fun and be careful okay?”

Debby nodded as she begun running towards the door but stopped, turning around and hugging her mom once again, burying her face on her mom as she smiled.

“Thank you so much~”

A warm smile grew on her mom’s face as she placed her hand on Debby’s head and gently caressed her hair.

“I’ll be here hun.”

Debby separated from the hug and begun running towards the door as her mom yelled out something.

“Don’t forget to introduce yourself to the neighbors first!”

“Got it!”, Debby yelled back as she arrived at the door, proceeding to open it as she begun her first day...

...

It’s a brand new day, a brand new world , a brand new place filled with opportunities and memories to make. Debby was blinded by the sudden sunlight as she raised her hand to cover the rays of the sun, she opened her eyes slowly as she looked around and felt the fresh breeze of the summer weather.

She begun walking towards the sidewalk and looked around, the gentle blue color of the sky, the warm sunshine, the beautiful shape of the white clouds, it was all so beautiful to see. She was so happy on how it all looked, growing up in the big city was nothing compared to this!

Debby was about to head out but, she was reminded about something important-

Don’t forget to introduce yourself to the neighbors first...!

She stopped herself as she looked around, feeling kinda nervous about meeting new faces so suddenly. But, seeing as how this was her new home, she knew it’d be better if she introduced and met her neighbors properly.

The sight of a two floor house with an orange roof caught her attention, it was the house on the right side of her own home. She walked to it slowly as she begun thinking on how she could introduce herself, Debby wondered and wondered on what she could say at all, she had been standing on the sidewalk for a few seconds now.

Come on Debby! You got this!

She thought to herself as she forced her legs to move and walk towards the door. Pressing on the doorbell gently as she waited for it to open. She waited and waited, nothing happened.

“Maybe no one is home..?”, Debby thought to herself as a part of her felt relieved, she was actually secretly hoping no one would answer so she could leave. But before she could ponder with that- the door opened.

A woman answered the ringing of the doorbell, she looked down at Debby as a gentle smile slowly formed on her face.

“Good morning, can I help you with something dear?”

She asked, catching Debby off guard as she begun panicking.

...?!

“U-Um...!”

Debby didn’t have the mind to make the words come out of her lips. The woman was starting to feel concerned but Debby managed to calm herself down.

“M-My name...”

Debby would take a few deep breaths to get herself back together.

“My name is Deborah Matthews, I live with my mom in that house over there! We just moved here last night!”, Debby bowed down her head slightly, not knowing how she was supposed to introduce herself to the neighbors!

The woman’s smile slowly grew as she looked at the house, she spoke with a slight tone of nostalgia.

“I see, it is very nice to meet you Deborah, I hope you and your Mom like your stay in Faraway Town.” The woman’s nice words made Debby feel better than before, Debby replied with a smile as the woman spoke.

“I have some kids around your age dear, I hope you get along with them once you meet them!”

“I hope so too! It was very nice to meet you Ma’am!”, she’d answer as she said goodbye.

Debby 1 - Shyness 0

Debby felt victorious about this, she had defeated her fears once again! She had done the impossible! She had won the w-

CRASH!

...?!

Debby would bump agaisnt something and fall on the ground.

“Ow..!”, she’d let out a small noise as she shook her head and opened her eyes to see what had happened.

“Ugh..”, she saw a girl on the ground right in front of her, she had her hand on the ground as her other hand held a bag of chips.

...!!

“O-Oh my gosh! I-I’m so sorry!”, Debby immediately apologized as she got on her feet and extended her hand towards the girl, helping her get up.

The girl opened her eyes as she looked at Debby, moving her hand and taking Debby’s as she got up.

“Don’t worry about it, I didn’t see where I was going.” She’d excuse Debby as the amber eyed girl her felt guilty for what just had happened, “B-But! I-”

“It’s fine.” The girl stopped Debby before she could continue apologizing. Debby would proceed to shut up as she remained in silence, not knowing how to proceed now.

The girl kept staring at Debby, looking at her close. Her silver eyes looked at Debby as she scanned her from head to toe. “Have we met each other...?”, the girl asked curiously as Debby tensed up.

Is she from the city too?!

Debby thought to herself as she looked back at the girl.

“Brunette hair. Silver eyes. White Skin. Cute... Freckles... Wait no! Debby don’t think about that! Answer her question!”

“U-Uhh... I-I don’t think so!”, she answered with panic, the girl kept staring at Debby and begun talking.

“Okay, good. Because I’d feel bad if we did and I forgot who you were.”

She’d extend her hand at Debby, a smile forming on her face. “My name is Alice, nice to meet you!”

Debby would blink a couple of times before extending her own hand to meet Alice’s as she smiled.

“Call me Debby! Nice to meet you too Alex!”

“Alice.”

...!!

“S-Sorry! I’m still getting used to... here.” She’d explain as Alice looked at her curiously, “You’re not from Faraway Town... right?”

Alice’s question made Debby wonder how she had known.

“Huh? How did you know? Was it that obvious...?”

She shook her head.

“I’ve met and talked with every single resident of Faraway Town at least once. You seemed familiar but I wasn’t sure if we had met before.”

Alice’s explanation made Debby sigh, she was a bit worried she might had been standing out too much with what she was wearing. She would hate to give off the wrong impression and looking like some bratty city girl.

“O-Oh! Well, I moved here with my mom last night! And um, I’m trying to learn the lay of this place!”

Debby’s answer made Alice wonder more about it. “If you don’t mind me asking. Where do you live? I don’t remember anyone moving.”

Debby turned around and pointed at her house, it was a white house with a brownish roof at the end of the street. Alice looked at it from the distance as she tried remembering who lived there before Debby, Alice would mutter something as Debby turned around and looked at her.

“Huh?”

“Oh, it’s nothing,” Alice excused her thoughts a she looked at Debby. “I can show you the “lay of the place” if you need some help.” She’d offer her help as Debby smiled even more, she looked at Alice in wonder and disbelief.

“Really?!”, she had asked with glee as Alice nodded.

“It’s not like I got anything else to do today. Plus, I’m always open on making a new friend.”

Debby was about to hug her but she stopped herself and spoke.

“That’d be perfect then! Can we go to the park first?!”, Debby asked with excitement as Alice giggled, she welcomed Debby’s attitude.

“Alright, follow me then.” Alice would turn around and begin walking with Debby heading towards the park.

Right as the had begun their journey, Debby begin looking closely at Alice. The girl had long hair that reached all the way to her shoulders, she had a white shirt and was holding a bag of chips. It didn’t take long for Alice to notice Debby’s constant glances as she spoke:

“-Something wrong?”

Alice’s question made Debby stop staring as she replied back.

“U-Uhhh! No! Nothing’s wrong! I um.. I just was curious, that’s all!”

Debby’s answer just made Alice raise an eyebrow.

“Curious? About what?”, she’d ask as Debby tried thinking on how to explain her silly thoughts.

“Back then I.. I kinda thought we had met before, but I wasn’t sure when or how... you’re not from the big city are you?”

Alice shook her head, immediately closing Debby’s suspicions.

“Nah, I’ve been in Faraway most of my life. My parents did come from the Big City though.”

Alice answered with sincerity as Debby blinked a couple of times.

“Well- this is a very nice town... How far is the park by the way?”

Alice would take the compliment with pride, she knew Faraway Town wasn’t a big or popular place. But she couldn’t help but agree with Debby regarding Faraway’s beauty, it had a unique and lovely charm to it that she couldn’t find elsewhere.

“It should be just right.... here.” Alice answered just as the two arrived at the entrance of a gate, it said “PARK” in it as Debby looked up at it with wonder.

“W-Woah.... It’s... beautiful...”, Debby muttered softly as Alice glanced at her direction.

“It’s not that big of a deal, the park isn’t my favorite place to go to but- it works I guess.”

Debby would return to earth as she looked at Alice and replied without hesitating her stance.

“Huh? It is! Just look at this place! It has a playground, a wide area, flowers, it even has trees!”, Debby statement made Alice grin as she laughed.

“A park that trees in it? Colour me shocked.” She’d say sarcastically as Debby pouted.

“T-This is my first time going to a park okay?! I-It’s not my fault I enjoy it...”

Her statement made Alice stop laughing as she blinked and stared at Debby with disbelief.

“How? Don’t you have parks in the Big City?”

Debby nodded, as a look of sorrow formed on her gaze.

“I mean... it had countless blocks of concrete but, it had only a few trees in it...”

Alice couldn’t help but feel kinda- odd about this. She could tell Debby wasn’t the lying type, hearing this made her feel like she had a responsibility now, a responsibility on making Debby enjoy her first day at the park.

“Well then- if that’s the case follow me~”

Alice would exclaim as she walked right through the gates, entering the park with Debby following her.

“Welcome to Faraway Town’s very own park Debs~ I hope you enjoy your time here!”

Debby would look at her surroundings once again with glee as a slight blush formed on her cheeks.

Debs?

She thought to herself by the sudden nickname.

“Can we go to the swing?!”, she asked like if she was some toddler asking for permission from her parents. Alice looked at her and nodded, making Debby dash all the way towards the swingset.

Debby would proceed to sit in the swing quickly, only for it to move and make Debby flip upside down, falling on the floor.

...?!

“K-Kyah..! Ow Ow...”

A small yelp would come from Debby as she landed on her face right as Alice arrived, witnessing everything. Trying not to laugh by what had just happened.

“Easy there, are you okay?”, the brunette asked as she offered her hand and kneeled down, helping Debby get on her feet once again.

“Y-Yeah... I just wasn’t expecting this..”, Debby would explain briefly as she got up and saw Alice sit on the other swing.

“Try being careful, these swings are probably older than the two of us~”

Debby looked at Alice, swinging gently on the swing as she smiled, landing on the swing once again, being more careful this time of course. She would move the swing forward slowly as she begin swinging.

Alice’s hair moved with her body as the two begun swinging, they couldn’t help but giggle a bit by this.

“By the way, how old are you?”, Alice asked as Debby looked at her and answered.

“17, turning 18 in December. How about you?”

Debby answered as Alice nodded, proceeding to take out a bag of chips she had from before.

“Cool, I’m 18.”

Debby’s eyes stared directly at the snack on Alice’s hands, the brunette was quick to notice her friend’s gaze and smiled.

“Can I have some of those chips?”, Debby was direct with her question, this just fueled Alice’s amusement as she giggled.

“Chips? You mean these Crisps? Sure, I hope you don’t mind the spicy flavor.”

Alice answered as she passed the bag to Debby, she accepted them and placed her hand inside the bag, taking out a couple of pieces as she begun eating.

“Crisps? I’ve never heard anyone call them like that...”

Debby would comment as she begun eating the few she got from the bag as she returned the bag to Alice.

“That’s fair, I call them like that thanks to my friend Sam.” Alice would explain as she begun eating the chips with Debby, the two continued swinging together as they remained in silence.

“So... W-”

“CAT!!!”, right as Alice was about to ask something, Debby yelled out as she sat from the swing, spotting an orange furred feline at the distance, it was walking through the gates of the fence of the park. Alice turned her gaze at the direction of said feline and giggled.

“Mhm, good observation Debby. That sure is a cat.”

“Do you think it’s a stray cat?”, Debby asked but Alice shook her head.

“Nah, look at it’s neck, it has a collar. Maybe it belongs to someone here on the park. It does look oddly familiar though." She’d explain as Debby sighed, deep inside of her, she had hoped it would be stray so she could adopt it into her family.

“Aw....”

Alice was quick to notice Debby’s disappointment as she spoke.

“Are you a cat person Debby?”, she asked.

“Mhm! I love them quite a lot!”

“I kinda had a feeling you’d be.” Alice would comment this thanks to Debby’s red blouse with a cat on it and her reaction from seeing that cat just a few seconds ago.

“Anyways! What else is here?” Debby asked as she shifted her attention towards Alice.

“Well... we have a church and a school and an office building.” Alice said with a boring tone as Debby looked at her disappointed, those seemed like placed she’d hate visiting.

“Awww.....”

A grin formed on Alice’s lips as she continued talking.

“Buuuuut- We also have a supermarket, an italian restaurant, a candy store, a supply store, an arcade and a hidden place I love to visit~”

“Yay!”, Debby showed her excitement by grinning too. “Can we check the arcade?!”, she’d ask as Alice nodded. She got off the swing and crumbled the now empty bag of chips, tossing it into a trash can nearby.

“The good thing about Faraway Town, is that everything is pretty closeby, follow me!”

Alice exclaimed as the two left the park. They continued walking through the sidewalk as suddenly-

“OUT OF THE WAY!”

Someone yelled as both Debby and Alice leaped to the edge of the street, a couple of kids scrolled pass them in some kind of scooters.

“Hey! Watch it!”, Alice yelled out as some of them laugh and left.

“W-What was that?”, Debby asked as she wondered who they were.

“Ignore them Debs, they’re not the type of people you want to meet.” An annoyed Alice would comment as she sighed, turning around and continuing walking. “Come on let’s get going.”

Debby shook her head and followed Alice. It didn’t take long for the two to arrive at some kind of parking slot. They walked and arrived at some stores, Debby looked at them in wonder. “W-Woah...”

“Welcome to one of my favorite areas in Faraway Debs~!” Alice exclaimed with pride as Debby got closer to the arcade store. She glanced at the store and looked through the window.

“W-Woah...” Right as she finished staring, she dashed towards the restaurant, looking at the name of the place. “GINO’S”. Debby smile widened as she looked at the name of the bigger place. “OTHERMART.”

To Alice, all of this was an everyday thing, but she could tell Debby seemed to enjoy this more than she ever could. She didn’t say anything and let Debby enjoy herself.

“So, where to first?”, Debby asked as she turned around and looked at her friend.

“You’re the boss.” Alice gave her a slight nod and smiled.

“Well then~ How about-”

Debby’s smile and cheerful expression vanished as she looked at something at a distance. She immediately walked towards it and passed right through Alice as the brunette looked at her with concern.

“Is something wrong?”, she asked as Debby didn’t reply. She stopped and looked at some kind of flier, hanging on a wall as she picked it up. Alice walked towards her friend as she stood behind her and spoke, “Debby?”

Debby turned around as she picked up the flier and showed it to Alice.

“Isn’t this...”

Alice looked at it closely, it had the words “MISSING” written on it with big letters. Right below the letters, Alice saw a picture of an animal, specifically, a cat. It took a couple of seconds for Alice to connect the dots and figure something out.

“This is the same cat from the park!”

Debby nodded as she looked at it more, “Look at the bottom part!”

Alice’s gaze lowered as she begun reading.

“Please help me find my little baby Minnie, she ran away a few days ago. You will be rewarded.”

Alice saw a street address right next to the caption and recognized it immediately, “Hold on.. I know this cat and I know this person!”

She’d exclaim as Debby looked at her with astonishment.

“Huh? You do?!”, she asked as Alice answered.

“This is Mrs. Curry! She lives in the same apartment complex that I live in!”, Debby felt surprised by the sudden revelation.

“W-Woah! You live in an apartment complex?! That’s so cool!” She’d reply with excitement as Alice felt a little bit embarrassed by Debby making a big deal out of it.

“I-It’s nothing really.”

“Anyways! We gotta go get Minnie and take her back to her owner!”, Debby exclaimed as Alice thought. She didn’t like the idea of looking all the way through Faraway Town for a mere cat but, seeing as how they had seen Minnie a couple of minutes ago on the park, she didn’t mind going to get her.

“Well, what are we waiting for then?”, Alice asked as Debby nodded and walked with her. The two would head all the way back to the park, and once again, just as they were arriving at the gate.

The noise of some scooter wheels made Alice snap. She immediately leaped and held Debby’s hand as she pulled her to the edge of the street right as the same kids from before scrolled pass them. “Grrr....” Alice seemed annoyed by them.

“Alice...? Calm down! We gotta find Minnie!”, Debby said as Alice sighed and nodded. She slowly let go of Debby’s hand and entered the park with her. The two looked around through the whole park trying to find the cat! But she was nowhere to be seen.

“Where could she be...? We checked everywhere!”, Debby wondered as Alice tried thinking.

“Not everywhere. Follow me.” Alice commented as she begun walking through the trees. This caught Debby by surprise as she followed Alice.

“Huh? Wait for me!”, Debby yelled as she ran through the trees and followed her friend.

After a few seconds of walking, Alice stopped as they arrived at some kind of hidden place. Debby begun panting, she seemed quite tired from all the walking.

“Where... are we?”, she asked as she looked at what seemed to be some kind of lake, looking at her own reflection on the water.

“Can’t say for sure. I found this place a couple of months ago but- I’m sure some other people know about it too.” She’d comment as she kneeled down and picked up a stone, tossing it at the lake attempting to make it reach the other side, only for her to see it sink immediately.

Debby turned around and begun looking for Minnie, she immediately stopped as she looked at Alice. “Alice?”, she said softly as the brunette looked at her.

“Hm?”

“There she is...”, Debby said once again, pointing at a tree on the distance. Alice looked up and saw the same cat from before, she held the flier and looked at it once again, comparing both cats.

“Mhm, yup. That’s definitely Minnie for sure. I’ll go get her.”

“Huh? Wait!”, Debby tried stopping her but it was useless.

Alice walked towards the tree and looked up at Minnie.

“Pspspsppspsps~ Come down here~ Your owner misses you a lot~”, Alice said in a sweet voice as she made some snapping noises using her fingers. Minnie just looked down at her as she tensed up.

“Hisssss.....”

An annoyed look formed on Alice as she raised an eyebrow.

“Don’t you dare using that tone with me Miss! Mrs. Curry is looking for you! So you either get down here... or I go up there.” Debby remained in silence as she saw what was about to happen.

Minnie didn’t move.

“Fine, looks like I gotta climb this tree then.” She’d say as she got closer, placing her hand on a branch and begun climbing.

“Um.. Alice? I don’t think this is a good idea...”

Debby commented with concern as Alice continued climbing.

“It’s alright Debs! I have had my share with wild animals before~ I can handle a little kitten~”, she’d say as she looked at Minnie and grinned, slowly extending her hand at her.

“Okay Minnie~ Time to go hom-”

“HISSSSSS!”, Minnie hissed at her once again, except this time she leaped at Alice and landed on her face, beginning to scratch all over her face.

“A-Aaaaah!”, Alice yelled as she tried removing Minnie from her face, she ended up loosing her balance and falling on the ground. Minnie was still holding onto Alice as she yelled in pain.

“OwOwOwOw!”

“Alice!!!”, Debby yelled as she ran towards her friend. Minnie hissed at Debby as she got closer. Debby looked at the orange cat with concern but... she remembered something. She knew she had to gain the cat’s trust first, she had years of experience with her own domesticated cats afterall.

... The piece of bacon!

She remembered the bacon she had brought from her house. She took it out and unwrapped it, getting closer to Minnie as she begun eating it. Debby would gently place her hands around Minnie as she let herself being picked up by Debby.

“Aaaand, there we go~ Gotcha!”, Debby exclaimed happily as Alice got on her face. “Why didn’t you do that from the very beginning?”, she asked as Debby looked at her concerned.

“S-Sorry! I didn’t thought she was hungry... had I know I would have done this!”

Alice sighed as she shook her head. “It’s fine anyways, we got Minnie. Let’s go to Mrs. Curry now.”

“Mhm!”, Debby yelled as the two begun walking towards the apartment complex.

They arrived after a few minutes of walking, during their walk there, Alice avoided looking at Minnie. She still seemed annoyed by what had happened. They walked up to Mrs. Curry’s door and Alice rang the door bell, they waited a couple of seconds before the door opened and an old lady answered.

“Ye- Oh! Minnie!”, she exclaimed.

“Meow.”

“Good evening Ma’am! We found your cat!”, Debby answered as she handed Minnie to Mrs. Curry, who happily accepted her daughter and hugged the small feline.

“My heavens! Thank you so so so much! Here... have this for the inconvenience.”

She handed some cash to Alice and Debby as she closed the door. Alice and Debby smiled and walked towards Alice’s door. They had been too focused on what had happened that they didn’t even realize the sun was setting already.

“Looks like we won’t be going to Gino’s today.” Alice commented as Debby seemed disappointed.

“Yeah... but, look at the brightside! I explored more of Faraway Town.. and I had fun and made a new friend!”, Debby replied while Alice giggled. She hated that she got scratched by Minnie but, she would be lying if she said she didn’t have fun.

“How about we go to Gino’s another day then? We have a whole summer ahead of us.” She’d comment as Debby nodded, agreeing. “Count me in- Oh also!”

Debby stopped herself as she took out her cellphone and spoke.

“Letme add your on Friendstagram before I forget!”, a slight smile formed on Alice’s face as she took her own cellphone out.

...

“I’m home!”, Debby yelled out as she entered through the entrance door. She was immediatelly welcomed by her children, who were quick to surround her as she kneeled down and happily petted them. “Aw! Sean! Max! Dexter! I missed you all~”, she happily petted the swarm of cats as her Mom welcomed her.

“Welcome back hun, how did it go?”, Debby noticed the whole living room was decorated. It seems her mom had spent the whole day unboxing and organizing. She answered her question with a smile.

“Great! I made a new friend and they showed me around!”

“Splendid~ Why don’t you upstairs and take a shower? You can tell me more about your day during dinner~”

Debby nodded as she headed upstairs and entered her bathroom. She tossed her clothes aside and grabbed a towel, opening her cellphone and messaging Alice.

Debbb01: Hihihihi!!!!!!!1111

JellyBeech: hi are u back home yet?

Debbb01: mhm!!! i just got here, how about you??

JellyBeech: debs you literally said goodbye to me in front of my apartment lol

Debbb01: lmaoo true true sorry!

Debbb01: look at this!!

Debby would send Alice a picture, it was a picture of her hugging Dexter, Max, Sean and Kim.

JellyBeech: omgggg they so cute!!!!

Debbb01: ikrrrr!!! they are my children!!!

JellyBeech: i wanna hug them so bad re9uiorklfdplfd

Debbb01: hehe you will one day

JellyBeech: i look forward to it

JellyBeech: oh crap i gotta go, see ya tomorrow ok?

Debbb01: okeee, night night!!

Debby would close her phone as she smiled and entered her bathtub, proceeding to take a bath.

It took her a couple of minutes to finish, but once she did she headed down the stairs wearing her PJs. She arrived at the dining room and saw her mom waiting for her.

“Sit down hun, I made some chicken salad.”

“Oooh!”, Debby yelled as she dashed towards the table and sat, beginning to eat with her mom.

“How was the park?”, her mom asked as she looked at her daughter with a smile.

“Hmmsh... Ith wash-”, Debby would finish chewing and swallowing. “-It was great! They have a lot of stuff in there!”

Debby’s answer made her mom feel happy. “Is that so? How about your new friend? What’s his name?”

“Her name is Alice! And she’s super cool Mom! I’m sure you’ll like her a lot when you meet her!”, she replied as her mom smiled.

“I look forward to it. Also- the neighbor from next door paid us a visit earlier.”

Debby looked at her mom curiously, “Huh? Really?”, she’d ask as her mom nodded.

“Mhm, she said she wanted to introduce herself and comment that she’d love your outfit dear.”

Debby looked away embarrassed, “Okay...” Her cheeks were red from the slight blush she had.

“That and, she said she’d love to have us over for dinner one day.”

“That’d be awesome!”, Debby replied as she shared a wonderful moment with her mother.

Debby arrived at her room, she immediately threw herself on the bed, feeling exhausted from her whole day. She didn’t even bother to look at the moving boxes she still hadn’t unpacked. She laid on her bed and felt something soft lay next to her.

She saw a tired Kim laying next to her, a small yawn escaped Kim’s mouth as Debby smiled silly. She moved aside and wrapped a blanket around her and Kim.

“Hey Kim... I think our lives here are going to be unforgettable~”

Meow...

“Mhm! I look forward to it too~”, Debby wrapped her arms around Kim and nuzzled her.

“I can’t wait for tomorrow!”, a brief yawn escaped Debby’s mouth right as she finished saying this. She’d lay her head on her pillow and slowly closed her eyes.

“Goodnight... I’ll see.. you tomorrow~..”

And just like that, Debby ended her first day in Faraway Town.

She had a good feeling about the future.
