Gojyo sided over to the babe who was standing outside with a cigarette in his hand. "Hello there." He said with a suave smirk. "What's someone like you doing in a boring army compound like this?" He gestured to their surroundings while checking said babe out. This one was brunette, with what surely was regulation breaking long hair in a ponytail, and smoking away like there was no tomorrow.
Ponytail babe looked at him with a nonplussed expression on his face and pointed to his cigarette. "Smoking." He said, utterly serious. "And to get away from some people." He added on as an afterthought.
Gojyo's internal grin grew. "Yeah, same here. I'm actually visiting my brother. I'm in town for a few weeks or so, over at the Ritz just outside." That was a lie, Gojyo could only afford the run down motel just behind the Ritz but that revelation could wait till later, preferably when later meant a chance of hopefully sexy time.
The brunette cocked his head in what looked to be a show of appreciation. "That's nice, what's the occasion?" Gojyo couldn't help but follow his fingers through the air as they put the cigarette to his lips and now that was all he could stare at, those lips and then down to the neck and inviting collarbones.
"He's getting married this weekend, though I never met the broad. Apparently she's some high ranking officer here. Or he, my brother's a bit of a whore." He gave him a devilish smirk. "It runs in the family."
Babe blushed at that and took off his glasses to polish them with the hem of his tee. "I see." He replied steadily but with a tremor of something in his voice. "Do you know where your brother is staying? I can bring you around if you like." He looked up at Gojyo from under his glasses and that look just shot blood down southwards immediately.
"I mean, we don't need to find him immediately, we can spend a bit more time here." Gojyo moved closer and cheekily linked an arm in his. "Maybe we can go find some food first?"
Babe hid a chuckle behind his hand. "Of course, I'll be a really bad representative if I don't offer our hospitality." He ground out his cigarette in the standing ashtray next to him and looked up at Gojyo. "I hope you like chicken and broccoli. I tried talking to the cooks but they insist on making meals healthy."
Gojyo could barely believe his luck but reached over to dispose of his cigarette as well. "Wow, I can't believe you did that, my brother says that the cooks are hardasses who barely know how to fry an egg."
Again, babe chuckled politely into his hand. "I have my ways." He said as he steered them over to the mess hall. Gojyo noticed a lot of people staring at them and he felt some sort of misplaced pride. "What rank is your brother?"
A lot of people waved to them as they passed by. Strange, it looked like the start of a salute before they abruptly switched gear. Man, soldiers are weird. Gojyo had suspected this based on his single sample size of his brother but this just cemented it. "I'm not sure, he's only an assistant to some bigshot or something. We haven't really talked in a long while."
"Ah." That was the only response from the brunette next to him. They entered the mess hall and babe brought him over to the line. Weird, the moment they came to the end of the queue, everyone else in front of them suddenly decided they weren't hungry and left for other places. "Hello Ms Sato!" Greeted babe next to him with a pointed look as they strode up to the counter.
The lady handling the ladle beamed back. "Hello mar, I meant, hello Ten-chan. Who is the gentleman beside you? He looks kind of familiar."
Babe laughed again, "He's here to see his brother who is getting married this weekend. We'll have-"
"Oh that's nice, the same date as y-"
"We'll have the usual special. Thank you Ms Sato."
She took the hint, even if Gojyo didn't know what that exactly was and served them some items on a plate. "Eat up, we cooked with less salt today."
"Oh dear, did we forget to include salt in the budget?" Came the acerbic reply and for a moment Gojyo broke out in a cold sweat but the lady laughed.
"No, it's healthier for you, silly!" She waved them off and turned to the next in line, surprisingly it was one of the guys who left the queue earlier. Maybe he was hungry after all.
They looked around and pro salt babe pulled them over to a table that was strangely empty in the bustle of the crowd. Gojyo looked at the engraving on the side. "Only for officers' use. Won't we get in trouble for this?"
Babe shook his head. "Don't worry, we'll just eat before they notice we're here. I'm sure your brother is expecting you." He checked his watch and smiled to himself. "If I'm not wrong he should be out in a few minutes from Hall F. When I went out for a smoke break they were about done anyway."
Gojyo leaned back and looked at the possibly stupid babe who had poked his straw into the juice box and was sipping away merrily. "You sure you were allowed to just leave?" Babe was dressed in the usual dark green training tee and long track pants he had seen his brother in so he just assumed this gorgeous piece was also a soldier. "Won't they get mad?"
He looked up at him with a smile that nearly stopped him in his place. "Sometimes but it's okay. I have such an esteemed guest after all."
Gojyo internally high fived himself. Looks like he won't be spending the night in the hotel alone later. "So, I never got your name. Other than Ten-chan, that is."
Ten-chan cocked his head at him again, and Gojyo could feel himself getting excited yet again just by that simple action. "Oh, how silly of me. Let me introduce myself, I'm-"
"Oii! Marshal!!" At that yell Ten-chan instinctively froze and looked around.
Gojyo looked around as well and saw his older brother striding up to them with a look of frustration on his face. "Sir, you can't just leave in the middle of training again, we talked about this!"
"And other things did we talk about?" Sir was smiling innocently at him. "And your brother is here too, I was just showing him around."
Kenren barely gave his younger brother a glance before leaning in with what looked like a blush on his face. "I'm not calling you that in front of the men and Gojyo."
Gojyo barely caught half of what was happening. "A hello would be nice?"
Kenren took another look at the brunette's face before sighing. "Look… my delicious cupcake, at least warn me the next time you decide to run off without warning with or without any siblings of mine."
Delicious Cupcake shrugged. “You know how boring it gets in there.” He said with a whine. “And at least I stayed in base this time.”
“Only because Gojyo’s here.” Kenren said, pointing at his semi innocent brother.
Gojyo was utterly out to sea. "I mean whatever you have between you and your boss is your problem bro, I'm just here for the wedding and thought I'd stop by."
Kenren finally took a proper look at his brother and then shook his head. "This cupcake who doesn't even realise that you're flirting is Cho Tenpou, the acting commander of our base, my fiancé, and your soon to be brother in law so I'd appreciate you keeping your hands to your fucking self."
Gojyo just kicked at a pebble as he sullenly walked back to his motel. All the good ones were always taken. It's not fair his brother got to him first and didn't tell him?! How was he supposed to know? He kicked the pebble hard and it went flying at full speed in the direction of a nearby shop front right as the door opened and someone exited. He opened his mouth to shout a warning but the man spotted the flying missile and caught it easily. Gojyo let out a sigh of relief and went over to apologize to the brunet dressed in the blue apron.
The shop looked to be a small book store with a white dragon logo and Gojyo put on his best sheepish look as he got closer. "That was a really good catch!" He said as the man neatly deposited the pebble on the pavement next to the store.
Dark green eyes met his as Blue Apron straightened up and Gojyo could feel his mouth go dry again as he thanked his lucky stars that somehow the people in this military town seemed to be all drop dead gorgeous.
"It's no issue, though I should really warn you not to do it again." Babe number two chuckled and wiped his hands on his apron. Gojyo could see two piercings on his left ear and what likewise one more healing across his right eyebrow. Not normal for a bookstore worker at all, something's up with this beautiful stranger. He needed to know exactly what it was and if it also included spending the night over sans clothes.
Gojyo grinned and stuck his hand out. "Tell you what, I'll buy you dinner and you can stop me from kicking all the pebbles I see on the way there. Sha Gojyo, I'm in town for my brother's wedding."
Bookstore babe's eyes flashed as he looked down at the proffered hand before shaking it with an enigmatic smile that sent shivers down his spine. "Cho Hakkai. I feel like having Indian food tonight and I hope you like rosè wine and egg sandwiches because that's pretty much all that's going to be served at the wedding."
