Chapter Text
(Senior year of highschool)
Jimin walked and walked.
She hated how she knew Minjeong was following her and was probably pretty persistent too. The raven’s wasn’t quite sure she was ready to face the brunette up close without pouring out her emotions right in front of her.
She didn’t know what love was until she found her bliss—and what a way to find out she was in love with her best friend.
All because of the way Minjeong’s eyes sparkled at her’s fondly, in the way the brunette brushed strands of her dark hair from her face, slightly chuckling with the most charming smile on her lips. How kind, caring and gentle Minjeong is, abiding by her activities she likes the both of them doing simply because she enjoyed it. Minjeong was quiet, always there to give a helping hand, was incredibly smart and well spoken. She was funny, making Jimin laugh to the point she has to beg the brunette to stop. Really, Jimin could name thousands of characteristics about Minjeong and by now, she realized that she had fallen in love with each and every one of them.
It made her heart beat unusually, that she could feel it creeping up on her at the back of her throat that felt like it can no longer huddle anymore air.
Her shoes splashed into a few puddles there and there and it was okay because she had a thing for dirty shoes since she was ten. Minjeong knew it too, within the layers of broken clocks Jimin failed to turn her way, and it’s all she had. She would bend down and tie the raven’s shoes, complimenting her white vans as Jimin felt the clocks slow for a moment.
She kept running, wanting to move on as fast as the rain falls, but she heard Minjeong’s footsteps and she realizes that she didn’t have anymore time left. Just burning daylight the more she ran. Her legs burned, but due to determination to get away from Kim Minjeong, she churned the question in her head as to why the brunette still continued jumping through unnecessary hoops just to get to her—when she could’ve simply stopped. She could’ve stop chasing her for no reason.
Even if Jimin hated the thought of it, she decided it would be better.
Jimin cursed, her lungs begging for a break. But stopping now means she would have to face the brunette who was effortlessly climbing over her defenses that she thought she placed sky high. She didn’t know why she hid, maybe she was afraid of the sweet life, knowing she has a habit of assuming everyone’s the bad guy.
It only poured harder and harder, not that Jimin cares but the thought of Minjeong catching a cold because of her was enough to send Jimin on brakes to yell at her to go home.
When she slightly turned, she bumped into someone, a hand steadying her from stumbling. When Jimin looked up, hair soaked and slightly covering her eyes, fingers reaches at her to push away wet strands that stuck to her forehead gently. Just like that, her heart thumps ridiculously, and oh, how much she wished it could give her a chance to simply catch her breath. The raven tried hard to slow down and steady her breathing because that plus Minjeong looking at her with stars in her eyes (that Jimin wasn’t sure how she’s missed before) isn’t a good combo for her.
“I’m sorry….. I didn’t mean to crash your pity party. Apparently, emotions get the best of me, you know, big hearted? And a bit guarded?” Jimin let her shoulder slump in embarrassment, in attempt to make a joke.
She took a good step back, finding herself already intoxicated by Minjeong’s majestic scent. However, it didn’t feel like she was going 10 times backwards this time around.
The brunette was the light in the park that she so desperately needed to be able to see in the mysterious mist of darkness, for some reason she found herself wanting to run away from it. Farther into the darkness where she could no longer be found. As much as her fingers twitched, begging to grab on to Minjeong’s shirt, and tell her to stay, she hesitated.
Minjeong tilted her head, ready to bring up her words. Jimin’s knowledge told herself that she was at a tug of war, a push and pull the raven knew too well. She felt bad knowing she was the one who initiated it, but she didn’t know any better.
While in the pouring rain, on the brunette’s face, it seems so desperately that Minjeong wanted to reach out to her. Jimin’s clothes stuck to her body, a reminder that they still remained in the rain.
And it wasn’t fair how beautiful the brunette looked standing on the grass, hair gracefully falling behind her. Her bangs were slightly parted and it makes Minjeong look a lot more gentle than she already did.
“Jimin.”
Jimin shook her head, taking another step back. “D- don’t say my name like that.” She breathed, wiping her face of rain. She knew when Minjeong said her name, the brunette only meant of it as looking out for a friend.
Falling in love with her best friend, the one she grew up with. She wouldn’t be surprised if anyone ever told the raven she said she’d marry Minjeong when they become older when she was 12.
Unfortunately, Jimin knew running any longer wouldn’t be a good idea, knowing how fast the brunette was. So, she might have had to stay and close the chapter of her book for good.
She allowed Minjeong to slowly step closer, her heart thumping faster each time the brunette does. The mix of pouring rain, footsteps and a thumping heart made Jimin wonder if she was going insane.
When the brunette’s close enough, their eyes caught, searching rigorously in brown orbs, one light and one dark. Soon, Jimin felt something wrap around her shoulders, and it suddenly feels warmer.
Jimin shouldn’t have been the reason Minjeong stood in the cold air. She didn’t have a reason to leave the brunette over here in the middle of a grass field. There’s no term of dislike the raven could offer to describe how unfair it is.
The brunette looked down, wiping her hands on her jeans before looking up. Jimin barely caught on toit but Minjeong’s face flashed with nervousness.
The raven chuckled, hated how she thought the gesture is cute. “I know I shouldn’t be giving you such a hard time, all this running. But…I’ve realized that I’ve fallen deeply in love with you and it makes me scared.” Her voice lowered to a whisper loud enough for only them to hear.
She needed Minjeong to understand that she was wearing her heart on her sleeve, not unaware of the consequences of doing so.
Minjeong stepped close enough for Jimin to feel their bodies press close. And the brunette didn’t stop there, lifting her hand to stroke the raven’s hair.
There was a knock on Jimin’s door, and it’s not an unfamiliar visitor. “Jimin. There’s no need to put up a fight, to keep running. I want to be by your side….. I want to love you right. But I couldn’t do that when you kept running away, scared that I wouldn’t have felt the same way. I understand, though.” Minjeong paused, giving Jimin time to take in her words.
The brunette’s hand moved to cup Jimin’s cheek, the pads of her fingers brushing against the raven’s skin with delicacy. It made the raven almost want to cry at how gentle Minjeong was with her and the raven had to make sure what she was experiencing was truly real—not a fragment of her imagination.
“It’s okay because you keep your heart guarded, your walls up that are pretty difficult to get through. But I don’t care. I’d find a way to smash through all of them, all of the layers of walls if it means getting to hold you in my arms and telling you that everything was going to be okay.” Minjeong lifted the raven’s head slightly.
Her thumb stroked at Jimin’s skin carefully, and it made the raven want to melt into her hand, snuggle against it for the warmth she’s been yearning for all this time.
Jimin found the courage to take a breath. “You still manage to have my tongue tied by your words. It’s the reason why I started stuttering in front of you.” They both laughed at the raven’s words.
The moment all but seemed like a fairytale from a movie. Although, somehow, Jimin was experiencing it and it might’ve been better than how the movies made it to be.
The brunette continued stroking her skin, in an attempt to get the raven to calm down. “You don’t need to run anymore. Because I love you more than you think.” Minjeong told her.
In the rain, pounding loudly against the ground, Jimin could’ve pretending like she had never heard those words from the brunette. The very words she understood would make her want to kiss Minjeong senseless in the chilling rain.
The brunette bent down, seeing that Jimin’s shoelaces had untied themselves through her journey of running. Minjeong tied them without a care in the world at the fact that she was probably going to catch a cold.
But the very same movement made Jimin remember why she fell for the brunette in the first place. It made her swoon deeply when she looked down at the brunette’s soft frame, eyes gentle with her heart skipping multiple beats at the point.
When Minjeong stood back up, Jimin apparently only had a few seconds to breathe before she felt lips against her’s.
It’s not long until Jimin reached to grasp at a handful of Minjeong’s shirt, pulling her impeccably closer. Maybe it was also her anchor, because she was sure her body blanked out at what to do at the feeling of gentle lips pressing against her own.
Then it almost went haywire when the brunette caressed her cheeks, tilting her head as she began moving her lips at a slow pace.
Of course Jimin reciprocated, hand resting gently against Minjeong’s stomach. The brunette was warm, warmer than what the coat could’ve offered and the raven felt herself wanting more of it. Their lips moved along with the patter of the rain, opening and collapsing on eachother in one flow. It was incredible that Minjeong wasn’t afraid to pour out all of her emotions right in front of the raven, it made the raven feel like she was special. She felt special because Minjeong had chosen her, out of all people to give her heart too. Never at a moment did it feel like Jimin wasn’t the one who got to hold the brunette’s heart.
The moment in the cold pouring rain was enough to shut up all of Jimin’s fears and insecurities, Minjeong locking them in a jar and smashing them against the ground with no sense of hesitation. The motion made the raven wonder why she didn’t just jump into Minjeong’s arms a long time ago, enough trust that the brunette would’ve been there to catch her.
Maybe then, she would’ve gotten to feel the brunette’s lips in between her’s a long time ago, if she wasn’t so afraid. But she was glad the moment has come because she wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Minjeong pulled away, only slightly so that Jimin could still feel her breath. The raven leaned her forehead against Minjeong’s carefully, laughing at the irony of kissing in the rain.
The brunette laughed as well, nuzzling her nose against Jimin’s so gently that it drove the raven insane at how much of a fluffball the girl was. She just wanted to hold Minjeong forever.
Minjeong was the first one to speak. “We better get you inside.” She told the other girl.
Jimin whined. “Does it mean no more kissing?” Or yes, to kissing… cuddling too because I’m cold." The raven asked, jumping up and down on her toes.
The brunette kissed her one more time, sending Jimin into a quick spiral.
“Whatever you like.” Minjeong whispered against her lips, smiling in between.
-
(Present)
“Why are you dragging me through the whole building?” Jimin asks as Yizhuo tugs her past many patients and doctors.
She gives a puzzeled look toward her brother who waves cheekily at her. As the raven’s being dragged backwards, Jimin motions her thumb across her neck, seething. Sangyeon shivers in response before slowly turning around.
It’s how most days go, the raven being dragged across the medical center—a deed Jimin is actually assigned to…. Jungwoo is dragged instead but it looked like today was the raven exceptionally lucky day.
Yizhuo brings her to Dr. Kang’s office, her arm tucked under Jimin’s in an arm link. She knocks a few times before opening the door and quickly shoving the raven inside. “Have fun!” Yizhuo wiggles her fingers with a demeanor too suspicious for Jimin.
Her colleagues spend all too much time trying to get on Jimin’s bad side, knowing the raven won’t retaliate because she’s too nice. But this? This was not something the raven was familiar with, being dragged halfway across the medical center and meeting sly smiles. She didn’t like it one bit.
Jimin whips her head toward Dr. Kang, “Any idea why Yizhuo locked me in here? Or is nobody going to give me any answers?” She purses her lips, rotating her upper body back and forth in boredom.
Dr. Kang cocks her head to the side. The raven knows she’s about to say something she won’t like to hear. She holds the same smile her brother and Yizhuo sported. Which leads Jimin to start thinking they’ve hexed her.
“I need you to show around a new doctor we have coming. It’ll only be for today. If you behave, then you won’t have to be her mentor for a bit.” Seulgi explains, a finger flicking the top of a Manila folder. It’s a habit the woman did whenever she needed a favor.
Jimin drops her eyes to the folder, a name being covered by Dr. Kang’s finger. “Any information about who they could possibly be?” Her eyes remain on the folder. She’s curious as to who the person might be.
Dr. Kang stands up, a chuckle escaping from her lips. “Where’s the fun in that?” She yells from the door as she leaves.
The raven squints at the wall, her head spiraling with even more confusion. What’s that supposed to mean?
-
Dr. Kang instructed her to wait by the main entrance of the medical center at exactly, 2:40. Whoever the woman made her wait for, better be Jessica Alba herself because she’s missing out on grabbing the first few hot sandwiches. And those sell out fast.
Jimin lifts her eyes from her phone every then and there, looking out for a girl with shoulder length brown hair, white converses (?) and a box in her hand. There aren’t too many doctors who wear white converses, so the raven figured it’d be easier to spot the girl.
Although, It’s past 2:50, leaving the raven frustrated at the fact that she had missed out on her favorite warm sandwich. Dr. Kang and whoever the person is are going to hearing from her.
Suddenly she feels a poke in her stomach, startling her. “What the-” Jimin lifts her head, meeting oddly familiar brown orbs.
Jimin promises time slows that down at that moment, meeting those brown sparkling orbs. It reminds her like a fairytale being brought to her.
Her breath catches in her throat.
“You know, I can’t stay here holding this very warm sandwich up like an idiot in front of reception for that long.” The brunette jokes lightheartedly, poking Jimin again with the sandwich.
The raven grabs the sandwich, eyeing the label sticker that holds the wrapper around the sandwich. Honey wheat, Chicken bacon and honey mustard sandwich.
Jimin swallows, finding her throat drier than its ever been. “You still remember my favorite.” She looks back up at the brunette.
The brunette extends her hand out to shake. “Kim Minjeong, Cardiologist and general surgeon. Nice to meet you.” Minjeong flashes her a charming smile.
The brunette’s hand is warm, like it’s always been. Their hands fit into eachother’s perfectly.
Yu Jimin never finds herself at lost for words, but now, at this moment, her brain scrambles for something to say. It’s always been like this—Minjeong taking her breath away. She hates it. The brunette’s still beautiful as ever, and it makes Jimin wonder if the girl had many people ready to court her. It stings to think about it but there’s no way Minjeong’s been single this whole time.
The raven clears her throat, snapping out of her daze. “Uh, thank you…. Yu Jimin, cardiologist and general surgeon, nice to meet you as well. Let me show you around.” She immediately turns around, wishing to put space in between them before she says something embarrassing.
Footsteps follow after her, Jimin soon finding Minjeong beside her with her hands attached to the edges of the box she holds.
It must’ve been the reason why everyone was acting weird.
-
The first thing Jimin does after quickly showing Minjeong around the medical center is gather her friends together during their break. She has a feeling that they might have something to do with the Jimin receiving the assignment of showing Minjeong around.
The raven decides to press her first question. “Did you guys all know Minjeong was transferring here beforehand?” Jimin asks, her hands folded.
Her friends all look at eachother before snickering. The raven lets them do so for a beat before she glares at them, causing them to immediately sit up straight with their heads lowered.
Haechan raises his hand, deciding to answer the raven’s question. “Dr. Jung told us last week.” He tells her.
Jimin simply scoffs, not surprised. “And why wasn’t I informed?” Her eyes roams all of them as she lifts her water to her mouth.
Aeri smiles widely. “Minjeong wanted it to be a surprise. Some of us received text messages in the group chat.” She grins, unfolding her hands.
The raven turns her head to abruptly spit out her water, droplets flying out. “You’re in a group chat with who?” Jimin screams loud enough to gather attention from other people.
Soon, laughter is heard and Jimin wipes her mouth.
Minjeong lets out a sigh. “Hello to you too.” The brunette exhales loudly.
Jimin panics, snatching the napkin Jungwoo held. She stands up, immediately reaching to wipe the brunette’s face. “I am so sorry.” Splutters of apology fly out.
She’s in the middle of cleaning the brunette’s face, appearing to be the very person who spat out her water all over the new thoracic doctor. With her colleagues still laughing behind her, Jimin winces in embarrassment, trying to dry the brunette’s coat when Minjeong gently reaches for her wrist to stop her.
“Jimin, it’s okay.” Minjeong assures her, snorting in amuse at the raven’s state.
The raven feels her heart speed up, her eyes locking with the other girl’s. Minjeong’s hand trailed up, only noding at her slowly, before finally letting the raven’s hand down. Jimin softly gasps at the lack of contact as she watches the other girl make the move to sit on the bench beside Jimin, soon ushering for the raven to sit as well.
Jimin makes a face, sitting onto the bench. “Anyways…. I don’t think it was fair that I wasn’t informed that you were coming.” She frowns.
Truthfully, she’s more upset that her friends would keep something from her. Especially regarding her ex. The fact that her friends still had contact with the brunette except the raven made her stomach pool uncomfortably. If she’s able to talk with Minjeong privately, it’d be something she’d definitely like to address.
Yizhuo lifts her hand. “Minjeong has a reason for that.” Her head nods tentatively to the brunette.
Jimin chuckles in amuse , clenching her jaw. “What excuse does she have to suddenly disappear, ignore all my messages and calls, leaving me in the dust?” Her voice is laced with authentic spite, in replacement of the hidden thrashing hurt she holds inside.
Minjeong opens her mouth to speak. “Jimi-” Although, before she can speak, the raven cuts her off.
The raven stands up, looking down at Minjeong. “No! Y- you just left me, no messages, no letters, without a trace. I was in love with you, Minjeong. Nobody knew where you were and everyday, I hoped that one day, you’d come back to me. But you didn’t.” Jimin is heaving, on the verge of tears.
Her fists squeezes so tightly that her knuckles turn white. “I don’t think it’s fair that you just come back and act like nothing happened, Minjeong.” She spits sternly. The addition of words that come out of her mouth is surprising, in disbelief that she’s upset at someone who was important to her.
Minjeong’s face flashes with a mix of hurt and guilt. The raven isn’t able to pinpoint what emotions swirl through the brunette but she refuses to believe it’s more burdening than everything she has felt in the past few years. “You don’t know anything.” The brunette stands up, shoving past the raven to walk out of the cafeteria.
Jimin lets out a shaky breath, her hand now clutching her white coat. She turns to face her friends, who only sadly frown at her.
-
Jimin places her stethoscope on the little boy’s chest, smiling when the boy takes a huge breath and exhales out, his cheeks puffing out.
The raven moves the chest piece over a different area of the of the boy’s chest. “One more time, how does the wolf break the pigs' houses down?” Jimin asks the boy.
Youngwoo takes a deep breath and then exhales again. “Like that!” His eyes sparkles brighter than the light in the room. Jimin warmly smiles as his bright energy.
The raven gives the boy a high five. “Correct!” Jimin tickles him, fits of giggles echoing in the room.
Once they finish their long laughing sessions, Jimin hears the door click while she strokes the sleeping boy’s head. “Wow, he fell asleep a lot quicker than he does with Ryujin.” Aeri chimes in, placing her clipboard on the table.
The raven nods and her edge of lips curl, staring fondly at the sleeping boy. “He likes his breathing questions. The three little pigs and the wolf the most.” Jimin responds quietly.
Even if she can’t see her, she knows Aeri nods her head in understanding behind her.
She hears Aeri take a breath. “You don’t hate her.” The words throws Jimin off and the hand she was using to stroke the boy’s hair suddenly pauses in moving.
Jimin lets out a sad huff through her nose, still continuing to stroke Youngwoo’s hair. “You’re right, I don’t. Even if she tore my heart apart and took a half with her.” She chuckles bitterly, disappointed at her self for still holding on to the brittle words chipping at Jimin’s fragile heart.
Just when Jimin was getting used to not waiting for Minjeong, the girl suddenly appears, crumbling her walls that she slowly built up after the girl left with ease. Minjeong acts like they didn’t have years of a relationship before them. She comes in and acts like the raven didn’t spend ever waking moment wondering what she had done wrong for the brunette to leave her. Minjeong left her without even a goodbye. It was like the brunette never existed—like all they had together was only a figment of Jimin’s imagination.
Jimin doesn’t think it’s fair.
Hell, she still goes to their stargazing spot to look up at the stars because it reminds her of Minjeong. She’d lay on the grass and silently wish she’d feel a body press against her’s. Jimin still loved the brunette after all this time, was disappointed at still being wrapped around Minjeong’s finger, unable to leave her beloved, carefully crafted chapter behind. The raven cherished their moments together, kept them protected and kept wishing that it all had been real, that she’d one day experience the genuine blissfulness she did with the brunette once again.
The memories that hold sentimental value.
Aeri hums, leaving them in the silence for a bit, along with the beat of the heart monitor.
Jimin’s all too used to being in the silence, alone with her thoughts. Although, she finds herself disturbed with the ones currently flooding her head.
“You haven’t tried asking her why she left, haven’t you?” Aeri walks over, sitting in the chair near the door.
The raven shakes her head. “I don’t need to. It’s in the past and I rather go on with my plan of moving forward. I don’t want to get hurt again.” She replies with a bit of hesitation.
Jimin lifts her head, turning away from the sleeping boy. She makes the move to stand up, her duty in the room no longer needed. Aeri would do the rest of the check up.
As she walking toward the door, Aeri stands up, nearing her. “Jimin, she never wanted to hurt you. She was guilty about it and even beat herself up because of it. She never stopped loving you and I would explain everything, but it’s not my place to. But please, just talk to her. Patients can’t be at risk because you two let your emotions take over.” Aeri says before picking up her clipboard to complete the rest of Youngwoo’s checkup.
Right, she can’t let her emotions take over.
-
Dr. Bae hands Jimin a clipboard, walking with the raven down the hall. “Acute Aortic Valve Regurgitation. Surgery is required to remove the damaged valve and replace it. It’s somewhat a difficult surgery, so you’ll have Dr. Kim Minjeong assist you.” She pats Jimin’s stomach before walking past a stunned raven.
Jimin blinks, jogging to catch up with Dr. Bae. “But she just got here?” She chews her lips anxiously.
Irene chuckles lightly, still continuing to walk. “She’s the best option for this surgery. So are you. But I can find another person if you think you can’t perform the surgery, Dr. Yu.” Dr. Bae tells her.
The raven only releases a huff. “No, I can do it.” She flips through the pages, skimming the information stated. The medical record looked normal so far. “Has Dr. Kim been notified?”
Dr. Bae nods. “Yes, the radiologists are just checking up on a few screens and a few things need to be cleared before going on with the surgery tomorrow. Hope you’re ready for a morning shift.” She snaps her fingers cheekily before turning a different direction than the raven.
Jimin cocks her head, sighing as the clipboard in her hand falls. She’d need to find Minjeong to discuss the surgery so she begins walking, nodding off other doctors who pass by her.
Her pager goes off and the raven reaches for device to look at the message.
When she arrives at the ER floor, the paramedics are rolling a person on the stretcher with speed. Jimin pulls the blue gloves over her hands, the elastic slaps onto her wrist with security.
The paramedics pauses in the area for incoming emergency patients. “He fell off his ladder and was impaled by a metal object.” One of the paramedics informs.
She presses her finger all over his stomach, “Is the object intact from the bottom?” Jimin quickly asks, continuing to press her fingers over certain areas.
One of them nods. They lift up his shirt, revealing a shiny sharp piece sticking out. “It’s impaled from the back.” A paramedic keeps his hand on the area to prevent control bleeding.
The raven whips back her hair. “There’s arterial bleeding. We need to get him to the OR. I’ll begin endotracheal intubation as he’s not getting any oxygen.” She explains in the nick of time.
With haste, the paramedics move the patient over to the side to prevent blocking the way. They lift him onto another platform and soon runs back outside as soon as Jimin pulls out the tools needed for intubation.
She grabs a laryngoscope, inserting the instrument into the patient’s mouth. After some time, she spots the larynx and an opening.
“Tube.” The RT hands Jimin the tube, which Jimin gently pushed it down into the man’s mouth until she was sure it was secured.
The rigid stylet is pulled out and Yeji connects the syringe to the one way valve to begin inflating the pilot ballon. After the RT pumps the balloon, she gives Jimin a nod once inflated.
With firm hands, she clicks in the AMBU bag, backing up to let the nurses check everything before pushing him over to run toward the OR.
There’s sweat dripping down the side of her head, which she wipes after she removes her gloves.
“I think that was your fastest intubation.” Gyuri suddenly says from the counter.
Jimin chuckles, throwing away the gloves into a nearby trash can. “Duty calls. Trust me, that took a lot more focus than it looked like.” She replies to Gyuri.
Behind her, she hears more sirens, causing her to turn around. She watches as another set of paramedics bring in a man on a stretcher.
At the corner of her eye, more doctors run into ER, pulling on gloves. “He has a shock to his chest. His vitals are normal.” A paramedic states as he helps in pushing the stretcher.
Another doctor runs in the scene, shoulder length black hair flowing majestically behind her. Jimin looks down and notices the person is wearing white converses.
Eyes lifting up, the raven’s shoulders deflate, blinking concretely at the new scene. Her break is about to start, the makeshift clock ticking in her head syncing with the one on the wall.
Quickly whipping her hair behind her, Minjeong ushers for the echocardiogram machine. “Echocardiogram.” Minjeong grabs the transducer and places it over the patient’s bare chest.
As the brunette’s moving the device, all of them watch the screen move. After a while of the image in the screen moving with a certain movement, Jimin figures it’s a tamponade. She waits for what the brunette might conclude.
Minjeong pauses in moving the transducer. “Tamponade in the left ventricle. Book an OR, please.” The brunette looks up at the other doctors, a sense of urgency glowing in her eyes.
One of them nod, running toward the other direction. Hongseok abruptly turns around, spotting the raven. “Dr. Yu, assist Minjeong from the side.” He instructs in a huff of breath.
Jimin blinks at the man, removing her hands out of her pocket. “Okay.” She bows her head, before lifting her head to watch the nurses run toward the OR.
-
Jimin washes her hands, her medical scrubs, masks, gown and cap already on. She takes a deep breath, turning off the water tap.
The raven watches as Minjeong on the other tap turns around to walk into the surgery room. Jimin follows after her, in disbelief that she was going to perform a surgery with the brunette.
Jimin grabs a gown, walking to stand in front of Minjeong. The brunette glances curiously at her, a slight tilt to her head as Jimin begins helping her put on her gown and gloves.
They face the patient, who Haechan has already done anesthesia on. Jimin walks over to the other side, across from Minjeong.
“Scalpel.” The brunette extends her hand toward the right. The assistant gives Minjeong the scalpel and the brunette lowers her hands toward the patient’s body.
Minjeong makes a vertical incision down the patient’s sternum. “Bovie.” The assistant hands the brunette a bovie and brunette begins reducing the excess blood little by little. “Dr. Yu, pull it.”
Jimin receives the Richardson retractor from the assistant, pulling on the incision for the brunette to work with.
The brunette goes over the cut a few times with the bovie before asking for the sternal saw. Sternotomy is performed, carefully opening the second layer to reveal the heart. Jimin makes sure to follow the brunette along with another tool. As Minjeong finishes, the raven fixes a bookwalter retractor to hold the layer open by itself.
“Dr. Yu, suction.” Minjeong instructs her.
Jimin lifts her hand, switching the items with the assistant. She waits a bit for Minjeong’s next instruction. “The pericardium is tense. We need to relieve it.” The raven explains.
Minjeong nods, receiving the electrical cautery to burn the tissues they need open. Another doctor uses forceps to pull tissues away as they see the heart. “Clean up the blood a bit and watch his vitals.” The brunette watches as blood begins pooling out.
Minji switches with Jimin, handing the raven the forceps while Jimin gives Minji the suction. Minji continues draining the tamponade, the raven opening the tissue more.
They wait a bit until the tamponade is drained entirely. “Dr. Yu, I’ll begin the closing of the sternum. Prep the wire.” Minjeong says before grabbing a gauze and placing it against the heart.
Jimin reaches for the wire, wrapping it around the clamp. The other end is given to the brunette.
The raven waits as Minjeong works diligently to pull the wire in and out of the tissues. She watches in awe as the brunette remains focused.
Minjeong soon finishes and opts to twisting both sides of the cut wires together tightly. The raven clamps the starting parts together for the brunette to bend them down.
Minjeong looks up, catching the raven’s eyes. “Finish sowing him up and ask for echocardiogram to be done to check if it’s stable now.” The brunette breaks the long silence.
Jimin exhales out of her nose slowly before nodding. “I understand. Good work, doctor.” Under her mask, her face is mum.
The brunette bows her head before turning around to clean herself up.
The raven grabs a thin wire. “Minji, come me help me.” She says, hearing the door of the operating room click.
-
“Did you hear? The new thoracic doctor completed a tamponade surgery her first week here.” A resident says as they walk.
Jimin’s slow breathing behind the counter, bored out of her mind unconsciously tunes in on their conversation.
The man playfully hits the other man’s chest. “You don’t know her? That’s Kim Hyunsik’s daughter. He’s one of the best in the country. She’s a young genius as well.” He tells him.
Jimin rolls her eyes, finding entertainment in staring all over the place rather than listening. Her shift wasn’t going to end until late.
The raven wants to just escape it all. Why did Minjeong have to transfer to this medical center out of all places?
She remembers when she’d used to escape with Minjeong. Just the two of them alone.
“Jimin, that is not how it works.” Minjeong laughed, walking down the road to assist the raven.
Jimin fumbled with the camera, frowning when the camera lens wouldn’t open. Maybe she should’ve kept the photography part to Minjeong.
But she really wanted to learn. Simply because she wanted to take photos of the things around her and especially the brunette. Seeing Minjeong looking focused and taking the most majestic photos only made Jimin want to learn more. (Really, it was more of an excuse to have the brunette be proud of her.)
Luckily for her, the brunette happily agreed, deciding on a day just for them to to learn more about cameras.
They decided to work on the basics earlier in the day and then agreed on testing Jimin’s skills at their stargazing session.
However, she didn’t know it’d end up this way.
Jimin recorded the brunette while walking behind her, and Minjeong didn’t mind, only laughing when the raven added special sound effects to fill in the quietness around them.
“Kim Minjeong hops over the puddle!” Jimin announced with a fake voice.
The brunette hopped over a puddle, landing onto the grass. She reached her hand out toward the raven for her to hold.
Jimin presses pause on the camera to stop the recording and readjusting her grip in Minjeong’s hand. “How about we get Ice cream on the way?” She asked, grinning suggestively at the other girl.
Minjeong snorted, turning down the road. “You ask me that everytime you want me to get you ice cream. I think it’s only fair you pay this time.” She nudged their knuckles against Jimin’s side.
It only earned Minjeong a slight snicker as Jimin began walking a bit faster.
Times like this are Jimin’s favorite part of the week. She saw the brunette everyday but it’s only once a week that they got to go to their stargazing spot. The raven loved when they were finally able to hang out, just the two of them.
In a blink, they were in front of an ice cream truck, the man in the front too familiar for Jimin not to remember. “One Cookies n Cream and one mint choco, please.” Minjeong said, handing the man a 5 dollar bill.
Jimin blinked in confusion at Minjeong. “I thought I was going to pay this time?”
The brunette bowed, reaching for their cones. She handed Jimin her cone before licking at her’s. “Don’t worry about it, just enjoy it.” She smiled at Jimin and began walking.
The raven quickly turned around to bow at the ice cream truck man before turning on her heels to run over to Minjeong, intertwining their fingers together. She licks at her ice cream, lips curving up at sweet cold minty taste of the treat.
They continued walking, giggling at the things they joke around about. It didn’t matter where they were, the raven always smiled the widest with Minjeong by her side.
They passed a stairway, making the raven stop in her steps. “Wait, let me take a photo of you here before it gets dark.” Jimin pulled out the camera, fumbling with it a bit, remembering the things Minjeong taught her.
The brunette hummed, walking over to the long stairway. Minjeong leaned over the railing, softly smiling.
Jimin pointed the camera at the brunette, adjusting the zoom on the lens. She pressed the shutter, and a loud noise was heard, stating that the photo was taken. The raven looked down at the photo, surprised at how good it looked.
She lifted her head and saw that the brunette was making the move to walk back toward the raven but Jimin lifted her hand to stop her. “I’m going to record you too!” She pressed the recording button.
Minjeong playfully groaned. “Jimin, i prefer to be the one taking the photos, not being your muse?” She tilted her head to look back at the railing.
The brunette began fixing her bangs, her hair appearing slightly disheveled. Jimin kept the camera on her, seeming endeared by Minjeong’s shy appearance.
Jimin rolled her eyes when Minjeong stuck out her tongue at her. “But you’re so pretty. I know a lot of people would love to have you as their muse.” Jimin told her, looking above the camera.
“You brought you tripod, right?” The raven asked.
Minjeong nodded, pointing to the backpack on the floor a bit further from her. “Yeah, it’s in my bag.” The brunette hopped off the railing, digging through her bag.
Jimin walked over to the girl, grabbing the tripod. “How about we record ourself just doing whatever?”
Minjeong nodded, watching as Jimin walked toward the open grass field to set up the tripod. She chuckled lightly before running over with her bag to follow her. The brunette walked in front of the camera, waiting for the raven to give her a thumbs up for when the camera started recording.
Jimin gave her a thumbs up. Minjeong put her hands into her pocket, the wind flying through her hair. “Jimin, come over here!” Minjeong screamed.
Jimin smiled widely, beginning to run toward the brunette. Minjeong opened her arms widely, catching Jimin in her arms and lifting her to spin the raven around.
Playful screams echoed in the air as Jimin held on for dear life, Minjeong spinning her around and around. The brunette soon let her down, hugging her tightly.
Jimin was happy, happy with Minjeong.
“Do you know how next level goes?” Minjeong asked, hooking her fingers around Jimin’s short belt loops.
Jimin moves her head side to side, pondering. “The one I did with the L move when I beat you in Mario Cart?” She puckered her lips cheekily.
The brunette rolled her eyes. “Yeah, that one. Whatever.” Minjeong looked the other way, feigning annoyance.
Jimin laughed brightly, kissing Minjeong’s nose. “Aww, baby, are you still mad you lost that one time?” The raven squeezed Minjeong’s hands around her waist.
Minjeong pulled away from her, pouting. “I’m not, it was a long time again.” She flailed her hands, backing a few steps away. She stuffed her hands into her shorts pockets, whistling absentmindedly.
The raven crossed her arms, watching as Minjeong occasionally glanced at her while whistling.
Jimin took one step forward. Then another. Then one more.
She suddenly began running toward the brunette and Minjeong’s eyes widened in horror as she started running backwards before slipping and turning around.
“Kim Minjeong!” Jimin yelled as she chased the brunette around.
Minjeong skipped around backwards, dodging Jimin’s attempt to tag her. “Oop, you missed.” She stuck her tongue out at the raven.
After a whole few minutes of back and forth chasing, Minjeong paused to give the raven a break. “You okay there, babe?” She bent down to look at a heaving raven.
Jimin ran her fingers through her hair. “Okay, Minjeong. I’m tired.” She stood up straight and lifted her head.
The brunette approached Jimin, brushing a stray strand from her face. “I’m not mad, I can never be mad at you.” She cupped the raven’s cheeks, pressing their foreheads together.
Jimin planted a sweet kiss against the brunette’s lips. “Right, you can never be mad at me, loser.” The raven pinched the brunette’s stomach, grinning so widely.
Once they finished being lovey dovey in front of the camera, they soon found themselves at their favorite spot. It had the best view in the city, opening up a beautiful starry night.
Minjeong stopped them in the middle of the grassy field, pulling Jimin to lie onto the glass. The raven was sprawled out on the grass, eyes already directed at the sky already.
Jimin let out a breath of relief. “It’s like it gets more beautiful than our visit before.” The raven mumbled lowly.
Minjeong faces the raven. “It doesn’t get more beautiful than you.” The brunette gently smiled, her head resting on her arm.
The raven playfully hit the girl, earning a loud giggle. Minjeong caught her hand the second time Jimin made the move to hit her again. She crept her fingers up until she was able to enclose the gap between the raven’s fingers.
“I’m being truthful, no star shines brighter than you.” Minjeong fiddled with their fingers.
Minjeong had always been the one to be shy, but Jimin usually reconsidered it at times like this, where the brunette boldly complimented her. However, Minjeong wasn’t one to miss out on a chance on reminding the raven how much she adored her.
Jimin cherishes it.
The raven only shoved the girl away, giggles escaping into the air. “Let’s watch the stars, loser.” Jimin rested her head on Minjeong’s chest.
They both faced the stars, pressed against eachother. Minjeong lifted her hand up to point at the moon. “Have you heard of the story of the sun and moon?” Minjeong asked.
Jimin shook her head. “No, can you tell me how it goes?” She found Minjeong’s other hand, sliding her fingers in between the brunette’s gaps.
Minjeong pointed up at the moon. “The Sun became lonely, tired of being alone in the sky during the day. While the moon, came into place at night, all surrounded by darkness as the other stars were too far for her to reach. She was also lonely and beautiful, shined brightly at night.”
The brunette let her hand fall onto the grass. “As the sun rose and the moon was being put into rest, they caught a glimpse of eachother and fell in love with eachother. Although, they could never meet, divided by the day and the night. While they loved eachother dearly, circumstances forbid them from ever being together.” She whispered the last sentence.
Jimin adjusted her head on Minjeong’s chest a bit. She knew Minjeong had more to say, waiting as they played with eachother’s fingers.
Minjeong took another breath. “Sol died toward the night to give Luna life, a chance to breathe and shine. He chases after her, in hopes to see her longer than a waning second everyday. But it was no use, they could not meet. However, I think for a moment, during solar eclipses, they finally meet eachother longer than a few moments. They cherished that moment, happy to see eachother. But it wouldn’t be long until they had to finally say goodbye to eachother and be divided by the daylight and the night skies.” The brunette finally finished.
Jimin smiled sadly, upset that Sol and Luna couldn’t meet and live happily after ever.
Minjeong pressed her lips softly against the raven’s hair. “I won’t let anything separate us, though.” She whispered into Jimin’s hair.
The raven bitterly chuckled.
My heart hurts.
-
“How did work g-”
Jimin’s fork clatters onto the plate harshly. “Jeno, you know you don’t need come and have dinner with me everyday.” She exhales.
It has become nothing but a continuous pattern, Jeno knocking at her door with the raven’s favorite (which she was sure how he found out) and a gleaming smile too bright for Jimin’s liking.
Jeno sits back into his seat, poking his fork into his stake. He lolls his head side to side. “I heard your ex’s been back. Truly, you wouldn’t run back to her, would you?” He chuckles drily.
When Jeno notices the silence, his smile fades just as fast as the raven blinks. “I thought you liked me?” He lifts his hand, moving his head along in disbelief.
Jimin lets her head fall, folding her fingers in on eachother. “I never said I did. I just let you stay along with me because I didn’t say anything or cared. I’m not sure why you’re so persistent. You’re just doing it because your father said to. You don’t have to put up and act.” She responds with the truth, cold nude truth.
The man stands up, obviously upset. “Tell me you don’t love Minjeong and I’ll go.” He challenges, his lip quivering.
Jimin looks up, her eyes teary. She shallows a gulp too much to withhold. Her head hurts, and she clutches her chest to allow herself to breathe.
“Leave, Jeno.”
-
Well, Jeno didn’t really leave her alone.
It sucks that they were in the same medical center, although in two different departments. Jeno specializes in cardiac radiology and being a thoracic doctor requires certain things from radiology.
The raven needed a Cardiac imaging from the Radiology unit to confirm a report. She begged that she wouldn’t have to interact with the man after their last meeting.
Jeno isn’t a bad man, the reason why the raven’s parents pushed her to marry him. And at one point, she did consider it, but her love for Minjeong took over more than she expected and the brunette suddenly appearing deleted any chances of reconsidering it.
Walking toward the the radiology area, she checks up with the receptionists to ask if the images had been processed yet. It takes a bit of time for images to be pulled out of all the many they have sorted. It just long enough for Jeno to pop in with the exact images Jimin needs.
The stars aligned at the wrong time.
Jeno notices Jimin, waving the images in a Manila folder. He approaches her while looking over the images again. “Looks like you need this? Pyeon Yeonbin? It looks like it might be mitral regurgitation. If the left ventricle enlarges because it has to work harder to pump blood, the chance of heart failure increases.” He explains, handing the folder to the raven.
Jimin nods slowly, flipping through the report. There’s notes scribbled on a sticky note, the raven quickly skimming it before humming and closing the folder.
She looks up, a thankful expression on her face. “Thank you, Dr. Lee.” Jimin turns on her heels, walking in the other direction.
As she walks, she hears footsteps follow after her. Soon, she finds Jeno by her side. “May I help you?”
It’s transparent, the raven knows Jeno’s intentions, but now she doesn’t want to deal with any of it now. Or ever. Aeri would tell her that she’s too nice sometimes.
Jeno clears his throat, causing the raven to roll her eyes and sigh lowly. “Did you mean what you said last time? You still love that fool? Come on, Jimin, you’re better than this. You know I’m better than she’ll ever be.” He says as they walk.
The raven’s eye slightly twitches. She might despise Minjeong at the moment, but she doesn’t appreciate the approach Jeno is trying to take. There’s things she needs to tend to.
“What makes you think you’re any better than her? You expect me to just fall in love with you?” Jimin slightly turns her head to the side.
At the corner of her eye, she sees Jeno purse is lips. “Yes. I’m the perfect guy and I’d never hurt you.” He responds with a little bit of confidence.
Suddenly, Jimin stops in her steps. “Well, go find someone who’d like that. It isn’t going to be me. Thank you for the images, though.” There’s a humorous tone that follows along.
Jeno closes his eyes and lets out a huff. “Please, Jimin. Just give me a chance. If we don’t work out, then fine. I don’t like seeing you upset because of Minjeong.” For a moment, Jimin mistakes his words for sincerity.
But suddenly, a brunette slips in between them, pushing the raven behind her. “I need a few scans for a patient, they were booked for a CT today. He’s waiting.” Minjeong nods behind him, a little boy playing with his toys, next to his mother.
The raven stares at Minjeong, in utter confusion. As much as she dislikes the brunette for suddenly appearing out of nowhere, she’s glad Minjeong cut Jeno and her’s conversation short.
The man in front of them looks back behind him before facing the two thoracic doctors. “Why are you always getting in the way?” He growls, steeping closer to the brunette.
Jimin frowns, sporting a look of fear at the radiologist sudden demeanor change. She tugs gently at the brunette’s coat.
Minjeong’s hand reaches for her’s, covering the raven’s hand with her’s carefully. “I’m not getting in the way, you have a patient to attend to and now’s not time for romance talks.”
She hands Jeno a clipboard. “Here’s the patient’s records, I’d appreciate it if you get to those scans as soon as possible. Report them back to me as soon as you can.” Minjeong instructs him.
Jeno sucks in his cheek, glancing at Jimin and scoffing. “Yes, Dr. Kim, I apologize.” He lowers his head before turning around to walk toward the upcoming patient.
Minjeong lets go of the raven’s hand, Jimin’s hand falling limp at the lack of warmth. She watches as the brunette stuffs her hands into her coat pockets, soon turning around.
When their eyes meet, Jimin waits for the brunette to speak first, not knowing what to say. She still finds it hard to spit out words in front of the brunette.
The brunette looks down at the folder Jimin’s holding before looking back up. “Sorry for intruding like that, I noticed you getting uncomfortable.” She takes a breath, seemingly pausing in her words to stare at the raven a bit longer.
Jimin doesn’t want to read it wrong.
The raven grips the folder tightly. “Thank you. I have to go now.” She lifts the folder up, a silent message that meant she had some work to tend to.
Minjeong nods, a flash of disappointment winding over her face. “I see, I’ll let you go now.” She bows her head before disappearing from the raven’s sight.
Jimin stares at her back, letting out a sigh before turning around to begin walking.
-
Vulnerability.
She’s touched up on the area too many times for her to count on one finger. There’s no time to be vulnerable in the medical area, though. So she leaves it to outside work, when she’s alone, nothing but the atmosphere around her to watch her cry.
Then, Minjeong would tell her that it’s okay to cry, that it was okay to feel like things aren’t going her way. They are all human emotions that make humans, humans.
“It’s okay, the whole class failed and you managed to get the highest score in the class.” Minjeong rubbed the raven’s arms.
Minjeong pulled out her own test, showing Jimin the score she received. The brunette crumbled it in her hand tightly, throwing it into the trash can across from them.
Jimin’s sobs resided, her head leaning more into the brunette’s neck. “But I studied so hard.” The raven mumbled lowly.
The brunette pressed her lips against Jimin’s hair, rubbing her thigh gently. “It’s okay, love. Sometimes, we work hard for things just for our efforts to be wasted. But there’s always next time and it’d make us want to work even harder.” Minjeong lifts her hand, her fingers brushing loose strands from the raven’s face.
Jimin had taken Minjeong’s effort to comfort her, finding herself at ease due to her words.
“Try not to stress yourself too much over it. We’ll study together next time, okay?” Minjeong used her other hand to cup Jimin’s cheek, looking down at her.
The raven let out a sigh, soon nodding. “Thank you.” She exhaled.
Minjeong kissed her forehead, continuing to stroke her cheek as she shook her head. “As long as you’re okay. Do you want to go to your favorite restaurant?” She asked, allowing Jimin to play with her fingers.
The raven hummed into Minjeong’s neck. She was tired and exhausted from a long day of exams.
The brunette stood up, pulling Jimin up along with her. "Come on, then. We can go home and watch your favorite movie.
In the end, Jimin smiled as their fingers intertwined.
Jimin takes a gulp of her water, eyeing the people chatting around her. She sits in front of Aeri, who crosses her arms and stares at her.
“You have to eat, Jimin.” Aeri tells her, and frankly, the raven doesn’t want to listen.
She continues to fill herself with water, subtly eyeing the food in front of her. Taking in the redhead’s words, knowing how persistent the nurse could be, she decided to follow her instructions. She lifts her fork, stabbing into the meat to bring it to her mouth and chewing slowly.
Jimin swallows one after another, soon finishing the plate along with some other dishes. The nurse in front of her raises her hand to grab the grandmother’s attention for more food but drops it when Jimin shakes her head.
The raven points down at the other dishes. “It’s fine, this is much, even for me.” She stacks the empty dishes plates on top of eachother, sharing a full plate with Aeri.
Aeri studies her like the good friend she is—and notices that there’s something wrong with her best friend. Well, she knew, ever since Minjeong came along. But now? Jimin looks bothered and upset.
Stuffing a piece of the spicy squid into her mouth, Aeri lets out a sigh. “Something is bothering you. I’m sure I already know why, but I want to hear it from you.” The red headed nurse raises an eyebrow curiously.
Jimin slumps her shoulders, fiddling with her fingers. “Did I do something wrong for her to leave me?” Her voice is gentle and low. It’s the question she constantly asks herself.
Aeri frowns, reaching over the table to brush strands of the raven’s hair aside. “No, you didn’t do anything wrong, Jimin. I’m telling you the truth. Minjeong thought you were the most perfect in her eyes, she still does. But some things take time.” She leans back into her seat, taking in Jimin’s vulnerable sight.
She’d like to believe that.
That maybe Minjeong taking her hand in her’s meant something for the future.
The redheaded nurse’s phone rings, causing for the girl to bring it to her ear to answer. “Yes? I understand, I’ll be there in a bit.” Aeri says, standing up and fixing her coat.
Jimin’s eyes follow her frame, her head leaning against the wall. “You’re leaving?” She asks, a frown occupying her lips.
Aeri nods, walking over to the raven and patting down her hair. They hear the door chime, and Aeri looks over in awareness.
“You’ll be fine. Don’t stay too long. I’ll see you at work.” The nurse gently squeezes the raven’s shoulder before leaving.
The raven huffs, running her fingers through her dark hair. She reaches for the water and pours herself a glass.
She drinks more water, knowing she’d have to abide to the rules of reality.
She misses Minjeong.
In her exhausted state, the raven thinks of asking one of her friends for Minjeong’s number (because she deleted it) and calling the brunette.
But what would she say? What would the brunette say? What if Minjeong answers but hangs up when she realizes it was Jimin calling?
The grandmother who owns the small dine in takes her cash, telling her to head home safely.
Home. What is Jimin’s home?
The raven presses a hand against the side of her head, sighing before she finds the courage to finally call the brunette.
Yizhuo sent her Minjeong’s number just in case she wanted to call the brunette. (Jimin still finds it odd that she was the only one who didn’t have any contact to the brunette.)
Jimin dials the number, clear and aware of what she’s doing. The phone rings and rings, the raven soon growing hopeless. Right, Minjeong probably wants nothing to do with her. What is she thinking?
“Hello?”
Jimin’s eyes widen when at the familiar voice that echoes in her ears. At the tone, the raven’s heart does a double take before Jimin’s able to compose herself.
She clears her throat quietly. “Hey. It’s me, Jimin.” The raven’s breathing is slow as she waits for the person on the other side to respond.
Minjeong takes a moment before answering. “Jimin? What’s wrong? Why do sound like you’re about to c-”
“I miss you, Minjeong. And- and, I don’t know what to do.” Jimin breaks, her tears soon falling and choked sobs following along.
The raven wipes at her eyes, looking down. She badly wants to be in Minjeong’s arms, hear and feel whispers of comfort floating around her. But she’ll never have that again, and the thought of it jabs at Jimin’s already broken heart.
She hears the other thoracic doctor sniffle a bit. However, the brunette remains quiet.
Jimin closes her eyes, the bare taste of soju touching at the tip of her tongue. “I want to go to you.” She bites her bottom lip at the sudden confession.
The line goes silent and the raven realizes she’s probably ruined every chance for a proper conversation with the brunette. She expects the line to cut, her hopes spilling out in waste.
“Turn around.” Minjeong instructs lowly.
Jimin’s head whips around, seeing the brunette behind the glass, a phone to her ear. The raven jumps out of her seat, running out to the resturant to get outside.
She runs toward Minjeong, into the brunette. The impact the raven comes with surprises Minjeong, as Jimin’s arms are wrapped around her waist, her head digging into the brunette’s shoulder.
It’s the first time in a long while that Jimin’s gotten to feel Minjeong fully close to her. She can’t help but sob into her neck, her hands grasping at the brunette’s coat tightly like something could suddenly tug them apart again.
Soon, Jimin feels an arm wrap around her shoulders and a hand stroking her hair. The raven melts more into the brunette, taking in her majestic perfume that used to lull her to sleep.
If it’s all in her head, a dream, she begs that she’ll remember it in the morning. She hopes to remember the way Minjeong held her gently against her body, stroked her hair and let her cry into her neck. Jimin doesn’t want to let go, she wants to ask the brunette to stay.
“Please don’t leave.” Is all that Jimin says, catching her breath.
Minjeong makes the move to pull back but the raven holds her there, afraid that as soon as the brunette looks into her eyes, she’ll disappear.
She hears a shaky from the brunette. “Jimin-”
Although, the raven shakes her head. “Just hold me, please.” Jimin hates the waver in her voice, barely holding in the multiple pleads that want to stumble out.
So Minjeong holds her.
