Chapter Text
I could feel the cold floor under me. My head was pounding and my whole body felt numb. When I opened my eyes I saw a glossy wooden floor, the type you’d see in a school gymnasium. I glanced at my wrist to see a hot pink wristband. I slowly lifted myself off the floor and observed my surroundings. The building looked like some type of concert hall. In front of me was a stage with red, open curtains. I looked around a bit more to see about six to seven other people who were all girls also wearing pink wristbands. As I fully got myself off the floor a few people came onto the stage.
“We know you guys may be confused, but everything will be explained in just a little bit. For now, you will be given a key card to a room, head up to the room and wait until further instructions are given!”
My legs felt weak.
That's all? That's all they’re gonna tell us?
A ball of nerves formed in my stomach as a tall woman with a black face mask approached me and handed me a key card. I looked at the card, written on it was the room number, “217.” I let out a sigh and left the concert hall. Upon opening the doors I arrived in what seemed like a hotel lobby. The hotel was really similar to the Stanely and Biltmore Hotel. I looked towards the exits that were blocked by security guards. It was too dark to see anything outside the windows so I walked around until I found an elevator. Me and 3 other girls hopped into the elevator. I pressed the button for the second floor and waited. Once I arrived at the second floor I got off the elevator, found room 217, and entered. The room was super nice and had an “old” look to it. In other words, it didn't look super vanilla/modern. There were two queen size beds that sat beside each other with only a nightstand to separate them. On one of the beds was a note that read,
“Dear, Y/N
You have been selected! As we looked through all of the profiles of Columbine fans you seemed the most fitting to be chosen to be here! You will be spending 7 days here with Eric Harris...”
My stomach sank. Yes, I like Eric and I know I’ve always wanted to meet him. But part of me is second-guessing this. Eric has always made me feel a bit uneasy, his eyes and smirk have always seemed so threatening. But even then, how do I know if this is real? Maybe it’s just some over-the-top prank! Eric died in 1999 and it's currently 2023. There’s no way this is even possible. Still, I continued to read on,
“...Tomorrow will count as your first day! We know you're excited and can’t wait but we still need a few hours to prepare! Take this time to relax and adjust to your new environment. If you get hungry or thirsty there is a mini fridge with food inside and a bag of snacks sitting on the beds. You may also refresh yourself in the bathroom. Lastly, there’s no need to worry about clothes, they’re already prepared for your stay!"
I looked around the room a bit more and found a phone sitting on the nightstand. Next to it was a digital clock that read, “8:06 pm.” I grabbed the phone and it read the same. Under the phone was a note. Written on it was,
“This phone is the only way for you to contact us! If at any time you feel unsafe or feel that they are trying to harm you dial 911. 911 will only contact the security and help center in this building, you cannot contact outside help with this phone.”
That makes me feel somewhat better, I guess…
I continued to look around the room and found a closet full of clothes. There was a side with clothes that I liked and another side of clothes, which I assumed are for Eric. I decided that I’d take a bath and then try out some of the clothes. The bathroom was quite big. There was a standing shower and a tub that could definitely fit two people. In front of the tub was a tv that was mounted to the wall and a sink opposite of the shower that had a number of supplies. There were cleansers, scrubs, bath bombs, condoms, and a lot of other stuff. I grabbed a bath bomb and began to fill the tub with hot water. I slipped in and submerged myself in the steaming water. It was nice that just for a second I was able to forget the situation I was in. In my mind, I am on a nice vacation alone and away from my family… that's it. No other worries in the world right now.
I don't know how long it had been when I finally snapped out of my relaxing trance. I got out of the tub, wrapped a towel around myself, and left the bathroom to look through the clothes they had prepared. At this point, it was around 9 pm so instead of putting on an entire outfit I threw on an oversized Nirvana t-shirt and some underwear. I got cozy in one of the beds and started to watch the tv that was mounted up on the wall. I tried to watch the tv to distract myself from my racing thoughts about Eric.
Would I have to get up and let him in? Would he just walk in? Should I act like I'm sleeping???
The familiar ball of nerves developed in my stomach once again. I just wanted to throw up. For the next few minutes, I tried to decide if I should just fake sleeping so I wouldn't have to speak to him. I must’ve spent too much time thinking because the soft click of a door handle turning interrupted my thoughts. The door opened and a skinny, average-height guy entered the room
Holy fuck it's actually him.
“Hi,” he said as he waved at me and gave me a friendly smile. I was frozen in shock. I pulled my limbs close to my body to make myself seem invisible. I was too scared to speak. I watched him as he headed over to the other bed in the room, trying to look for any specific features I remember about Eric. Everything was the same. His face, body, the way he walked, even his voice. Everything was the exact same. He sat down on the other bed and faced his body towards me.
“You’re shy?” he asked
“Mmhm” no matter how hard I tried I just couldn’t get any real words out
“Ahh okay. your name’s Y/N, right?.”
I took a deep breath in and responded with a breathy, “yes” that came out as more of a whisper.
“Well nice to meet you Y/N” he smiled as he stuck his hand out initiating a handshake. I grabbed his hand and softly shook it, trying to force a smile onto my face.
A few seconds of silence followed. I tried to get as comfortable as one could in this situation.
“You’re heading to bed already?”
I nodded my head.
“Alright then.” Shortly after, Eric got up and turned off the main light in the room. I rolled over so I wasn't facing him and attempted to fall asleep.
