Work Text:

Falcon’s not sure how they got here.

To this point in time where he was content lying in a bed that was worth more than the first car he ever bought. Scraped together cash from working odd jobs around town to buy nothing but four wheels and an engine that took him away. Far away. Far from the places filled with broken bones and broken memories. Of the drunken nights his father spent that became only worse when his mother left.

To this point where the love of his life lay wrapped in his arms when he never could have dreamed of such a reality in his youth. Of the man he could become and the one he would gladly marry despite his own promise to never allow himself something like that. Of the definite swell of said man’s stomach as further proof.

To the point now that the mere presence of Mark in his evenings was more than just a glow from his phone on the nightstand: illuminating his room in hues of blue. He was in his arms, matching rings on their fingers and the promises they made that Falcon intended to forever keep.

He pulls the younger man closer, beak pressing against Mark’s forehead and sighs in contentment. Mark’s voice breaks through the silence, voice raspy from disuse. “Stop thinking so much, babe.” He mumbles, not even bothering to open his eyes.

And Falcon can’t help but let out a laugh, pressing another kiss to Mark’s face, lower than the last one but just barely ghosting along the edge of his beak. “Go to sleep, love.” Falcon replies, his hand running up and down the length of Mark’s spine.

“No, you.” Mark replied, welcoming the soft pressure along his back as he all but melted back into the mattress below him. He let out a content sigh, his whole body going slack below him, “love you.” He whispered, leaning forward and gently bumping his beak against Falcon’s bare chest.

Falcon leaned down, placing another kiss to Mark’s face. “Love you, too.” He replied, gazing over Mark’s sleeping frame once more before finally closing his eyes and drifting off to sleep.
