The 2023 season ended with a disappointing conclusion for almost everyone, with Max winning the championship in quick succession. For Mclaren, it was a good season. But that's all it was. Good.
Lando ended the season with mixed feelings about his driving and relationship with Mclaren, but there was one thing he was sure of.
He’s gonna come out.
“Lando, I want you to know everyone here at Mclaren supports you, Don't feel like this information has to be shared with anyone but the team. You don't owe anyone anything.” Zac says, the day before the press release.
Lando knows he means well, but he also has a feeling Zak doesn't want to deal with the possible backlash from this.
“Thank you, Zak, but this is my own decision and I want to share it”
On the day of the release, Lando is freaking the fuck out.
He's wanted to do this for ages, and yet it still feels like possibly the worst decision he's ever going to make. Max calls him, as the announcement goes out, and they watch the headlines come out and the messages pile in.
Lando cries. Max cries with him.
Over the next few days, Lando gets hundreds of messages from friends to people he knew back in karting. All of them reaching out to tell him they're proud.

“Hi, Bob! Welcome back” Max says from the kitchen, stirring something in a pot.
Lando drops his bag and goes to stand behind max in the kitchen. Max turns his head around, opening his mouth to say something.
“Do-” Lando cuts him off with a kiss.
He's home.
