It was a cold bitter day when Goncharov headed into the bar
As usual, the prostitute Katya awaited him. She was a slip of a girl on the cusp of adulthood with blond hair and icy eyes.
Her mother is a drunk and her father was a shell of a man from his wife’s abuse, always obliging her whether it was sex or housekeeping due to his belief that she truly loved him was unable to care for himself so Katya had to monopolize her beautiful looks to care for her father
Katya respected Goncharov, he did not fuck here no, he just wanted a friendly ear. An extremely pretty friendly ear,
She raised an eye at his disheveled state but had no need to comment as Goncharov spilt his tale ove a glass of whiskey
“I’m leaving Mother Russia and heading to Naples. I hope my business will bear more fruit there than this desolate place.”
Katya raised her cigar before speaking
“I know you fancy men”
A heavy silence followed the gentle whisper
“I am the same, I prefer women. Take me with you to Naples, I will turn a blind eye to your affairs as long as you do the same”
“What is with the sudden interest?”
Katya blew a puff of smoke before replying
“My mother has sunk into some deep debts and has promised me as a bride to settle them. I know if I leave to my new husband I will be nothing more than a rag doll in a cage. Leaving with you would secure my future”
“And your father?”
There was a pause
“The ship is sinking. If he cannot, no will not, get out why should I drown with him?”
Goncharov said nothing before whipping out a pen and scribbling a message on a napkin
“The boat I will take and when it departs. Do not be late”
Katya’s snatched it with 2 manicured fingers and shoved it down her dress
“Of course I will not, this is my only opportunity to escape”
She flagged down the bartender and winked at her companion”
“My treat”
He deposited 2 glasses of champagne in front of them
“To our partnership”
Goncharov gripped his glass and tapped it against Katya’s
