Nobody in 1-A had expected the news of their classmate passing. Izuku Midoriya was hit by a villain’s quirk while protecting the victim on his way to school. “ NO! That damn nerd isn’t dead ! Screamed a raging Bakugou. “ You’re messing with us! ”
Aizawa levels him with a quirked glare. “I know it’s hard to believe, but Midoriya didn't make it. He succumbed to his wounds in the hospital.” The teacher was about to continue when a thud sounded in the room. Looking around showed Uraraka on her knees crying. The girls of the class all rushed to her. “I-I didn’t get to tell him I loved him” The gravity girl cried out. No one spoke up after the crying teen, leaving the room in a dark silence.
A few days later, a funeral was held for the past hero in training Kaihō. Hizashi showed up with his husband, Aizawa and daughter, Eri. Looking around he sees the entirety of 1A around the cemetery each silently crying. Anyone would have to be blind not to see the relationship, the familial love, between the class over the past two years.
Everyone silences when a short woman with dark green hair and emerald eyes walks up to the podium. Hizashi instantly recognizes her as Inko Midoriya, an old flame from high school. He pays attention as the woman starts speaking with tears in her eyes. “Izuku was a bright young boy. He always wanted to be a hero since he was able to talk. H-He always wrote about heroes and their quirks in his notebooks.” She pauses as more tears flow from her eyes. “I was always scared of his dream, but I did my best to make sure he made it true. I-I-I” the woman falls to her knees, not able to continue.
He sees the retired #1 hero, stand up and help her. As she stands she finishes. “I love you my sapling.” A few hours later the coffin is lowered into the ground. Hizashi watches as dirt piles up into the hole. As the last shovel pats the dirt down he hears crying, he hears the weeping of his students, he hears them scream. He backtracks at the scream. He looks around and sees no one reacting to it. The screaming gets slightly louder and he sees his husband react. “You hear that Zashi? That screaming?” He doesn’t get to answer as the dirt near them explodes upwards.
“Wake up Ninth! Wake up!” Izuku startles awake at the yell. “Wha? Who’s there?” He looks around and only sees darkness. He reaches his arm out and hits something instantly. Panic creeps through him as he remembers the villain that knocked him unconscious. He doesn’t get to think much more as he hears the voice again. “Ninth. Ninth!” The voice screams. Izuku jolts.
“Who are you?” He asks as he looks around the darkness for the body of the voice. “You can call me First. That doesn’t matter now though. We need to get you out of here.” Izuku wonders what this place is. As if reading his thoughts, First answers, “Ok, first don’t panic.” He stops for a moment. “You’re in a coffin. After the villain you fought got a hit in on you, it did massive damage to your ribs. Your left ribs instantly punctured your heart, killing you. You were proclaimed dead at the hospital.”
As First finishes, Izuku starts full on panicking. “N-n-h! N-nth! Izuku!” At hearing his name, he focuses back to First’s voice. “I need you to start breathing normally. There isn’t much air down here as is.” Izuku decides to panic more later and focuses on another thing. “How am I alive now? You said I died.” He can feel First thinking. “One for All evolved when you died. It unlocked the second user’s quirk, Self-Healing. Originally only able to heal small cuts and bruises, was powered up within One for All to be able to slowly revive the dead shortly after death.”
Izuku’s thoughts latch onto the fact of One for All evolving. “So I’m alive now to due to One for All evolving to save me. How do I get out of here now?” He can feel First thinking again. “You can’t use One for All like the way you usually do due to your body weakening. I have an idea, but it’s risky.” Izuku instantly asks what it is. “Since One for All evolved, its energy went way up. With the excess energy I can activate your original quirk.”
“ WHAT! ” First answers quickly. “Yes, I need to focus. It seems like a voice modifier quirk.” Izuku perks up. “Like Present Mic?” He asks hopefully. “I think so. Try to start yelling, and I’ll try to activate it.” Izuku nods and starts screaming. “Ahhhhhhhhhh!” He stops to catch his breath. “AHHHHHHHHHH”
The second time he stops, he feels a warmth around his throat. Trying again he screams with all his might. “
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
” He is blinded as everything around him explodes upwards, shining bright into the hole. For a second everything is quiet, until he hears screaming from above. “What was that!?” “What the hell!” “Is it a villain attack?” Izuku blinded by the light above covers his eyes. He hears someone get closer. “Izuku?” There’s a pause. He uncovers his eyes to see his blond teacher leaning over into the hole. He sees his English teacher turn and yell behind him. “He’s alive!”
