Chapter Text
Help, please help, someone!
“Hey,” red eyes peaked through grayish blue hair to see red demon eyes looking back at him. It was a boy with pale skin, short black hair as a black tail whipped around behind them. “You okay?” He reached towards the smaller boy who flinched away.
“Don’t touch me! I-I don’t want to hurt you.” The other boy took the smaller boy's hands in his own and red eyes widened in fear before realizing the other boy wasn’t disappearing.
“It’s tingly, let me guess… your quirk has something to do with why you’re out here all alone?” He could see the fear in the smaller boy’s eyes and sighed. “We can go talk to the police if you want. I’ll be there with you.” He nods and the two head to the closest station where they take the smaller boy with wrinkled eyes and scratch marks on his neck in for questioning.
“They’ll both have to go to a facility that can handle kids like them. They're both too dangerous to just send them to foster care.”
“C-can I see him?” the older boy asked, seeming like a scared child himself. The officer was kind enough to allow him in and his demeanor changed in an instant. “We have to go.” Worried red eyes looked up at him and nodded. “Okay, follow my lead.” He takes his hand and leads him to the door.
“What’s the problem?”
“He needs to go to the bathroom.”
“Of course, follow me.” The nice officer led them to the bathroom and even stood outside the door as the two entered. The taller of the two boys noticed the window and created a set of stairs leading up to it.
“You first. On the other side will be a slide and I’ll be right behind you.”
“Why are we running? Aren’t they nice? Police officers are supposed to help us.”
“Yeah, but they can’t trust kids like us… they want to send us somewhere that handles people with Quirks like ours… and trust me… it isn’t a place someone like you should be. Do you trust me?” Red eyes filled with trust nodded tousling ash blue hair. “Good, now go.” He watched the smaller boy go through the window before following him.
“Kids…” The officer entered the bathroom and noticed a lack of two boys. “Off-” He stopped himself noticing a note on the wall written in ink.
We will not be put in cells for a thing we didn’t choose to have.
Thank you for your kindness, it will not be forgotten.
He sighed as he returned his walkie-talkie to his hip. Stay out of trouble, kids.
“Where are we going?” The two boys have been traveling through the dark since they left the station.
“My place isn’t too far from here… here we are.” The two stopped in front of a graffitied apartment complex that looked abandoned. The two could hear yelling and crashing all around them. The older seemed used to it, but the younger clung to the other shaking. Demon red eyes looked down at the shaking male and smiled, patting his hair. This caused him to jump and look up.
“Don’t worry, nobody here would dare to mess with me. Now let’s get inside.” He led the boy in where the man behind the desk gave a nod to the dark-haired one and did a double take when he noticed a second body.
“Now when did I accept strays into this building?” He sneered.
“The day I decided to allow you and your group to live.” Demon eyes turned to slits as horns were seen through black hair. He hissed these words out low enough that only the man could hear but the other boy couldn’t. He watched as the older male gulped in fear before going up to the penthouse.
The two entered the largest apartment and red eyes widened in surprise seeing how clean and well kept it was compared to the rest of the place he'd seen. He then looked around confused.
“Where are your parents?” The older boy froze as he was just finishing taking off his shoes.
“They abandoned me when my Quirk fully manifested. They had already given up on me at birth anyway.” He looked to see the sad expression in the younger’s red eyes and sighed before smiling. “It’s nothing to worry about. I’ve managed on my own and have been just fine without them… plus I have you now.” He was instantly tackled by the younger one who hugged him. The demon was shocked for a second before hugging back.
“What’s your name?” It was only at this moment, while the two were eating, that the older realized he never actually got the younger’s name either.
“Kaylub, and yours?”
“T-Tenko, if we’re just going by first names.”
“I’ve abandoned my last name just like they did with me.” He saw the sadness again and regretted his choice of words. “Hey, but it’s fine. I don’t need a last name… and neither do you.” Tenko looked at Kaylub confused as he smiled. Tenko smiled back feeling accepted.
After the two ate, Kaylub showed Tenko his bedroom as well as the connected bathroom. Tenko was surprised by how big the rooms seemed to be.
“My room is right there if you need me. Towels and other needed supplies are in the closet within the bathroom and if you get hungry… well you know where the kitchen is.” Tenko nodded through it all. “Oh, last thing.” Kaylub rushed to his room before returning with a pair of black painters gloves. Gloves that only covered the ring and pinky finger. “These should help with your Quirk. You don’t have to wear them all the time, but-” He was then hugged again and Kaylub hugged him back quicker this time.
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome, Tenko.”
