Winter Ball

Summary:

How could they do this? How could they dare? Well, what do you expect? Can't two husbands dance?

Notes:

Giving a throwback from December 31st, 2018, boy did this need *a lot* of editing and rewriting and extra bits and I'm tipsy so enjoy!

I'm that one person who is going to be throwing old Mystic Messenger works every week, mostly Juciel, and yeah, I'm sleepy now zzz

Work Text:

It was a scandal. It had to be.

Their fathers would scoff.

And yet they were the envy of the ball.

All eyes were on them and the crowd that formed around them watched with awe.

They moved slowly, with the rhythm of the music encasing the ballroom.

The nervous redhead was slow and focused on his steps. His furrowed brows hid behind a crimson mask.

All of his field agent training was long gone at the moment.

The one thing that kept him standing, was the firm hold of his lover as they twirled.

With a gentle nod and reassuring squeeze of his hip, the older kept Luciel close. He had a practiced, cold gaze on anyone who may see the pair from afar with judgment. But warmth radiated as Jumin eyed the redhead.

Indeed all in attendance were in wonder as the two danced. Their speedy engagement to marriage was one hell of a scandal to be talked about, especially considering both males had their own family history to gossip about for days.

One, with a father with an empire that had to be perfect. With an imperfect son.

The other, with a father with a dirty little secret. With two bastard children.

Oh well, suppose that’s why they were made for each other.

“Jumin…” Mumbled the smaller, eyes now set on the silver pair. By this point, he relied on motion memory and the older for his footsteps. Any courage to stick it to their fathers was balanced on shaky ground.

And yet Jumin pulled him closer and gently kissed the top of Luciel’s head with a soft reply, “The dance is almost over my love.”

Damn anyone if they couldn’t at least have this one dance.

Luciel bit his lip and nodded as he attempted to keep a steady composure. So he allowed himself to be distracted.

He eyed the royal blue mask Jumin wore, the same color that matched his own suit. Down his gaze went towards the crimson suit that went paired with the mask he wore in turn.

A small smile formed on his lips, it was his idea after all that they should match, even if were not all too grand. And of course, Jumin allowed it as such, if it meant it made his lover happy.

The tight hold that Luciel was unaware he had on Jumin eventually loosened as the nerves ebbed away. Rather now, hummed softly along to the melody that filled the ballroom.

“Better my love?” Jumin asked quietly as he loosened his own hold. His silver gaze set lovingly on his lover.

The redhead smiled and nodded as he returned the loving gaze, “Yes, thank you Juju~” He laughed softly, a quiet sound for only the two to hear.

Both men shifted as the song came to a slow. Luciel wrapped his arms around the older's neck, as Jumin wrapped his arms around the younger’s waist.

They shared small smiles and whispers for one another as they held each other. Their gazes set on no one else as everything outside of their winter bubble melted away.

No words from the outside world reached them and only three magical words were exchanged between them in unison. "I love you," a simple reminder of their vows as they finished the dance with a kiss.
