Chapter Text
Jeremy was known for running. Whether that was cross country at school, or sprinting to his next class to avoid being late again, or running errands for his mother, grandmother or neighbours; he was known for running. So, of course, when the opportunity came for him to run away from his suffocating hometown, he sprinted faster than he had ever thought his legs could carry him.
Unfortunately, however, it seemed like he had done a big circuit, like the one he’d jog around in P.E, because he’d only gone and ended up in the same situation he had only just left.
He was in a town, just on the outskirts of a much larger, bustling city. It was the sort of place that Jeremy was familiar with, but was so so tired of seeing.
To be fair, Jeremy had never been into a proper city before, he had only seen them while watching the occasional film (usually christmas related) at his local, rat-riddled, cockroach-infested cinema, which was on the brink of collapse. It looked like the sort of place that Jeremy would want to be in.
Friendly people and job opportunities a-plenty awaited him.
He just needed to scrape up the money to move further inwards. The gravitational energy had pulled him in, and he was just about to enter it’s orbit, he just needed a little more energy (money) to fully encompass him in the idyllic City.
Luckily, he had a measly little job, and an even more meagre flat awaiting him. His rusty, old car scraped to a halt outside his designated parking space, and then a janky shift into reverse allowed him to safely stow hus car away until the next day, when he’d get up to go to the new job, for a day tour prior to his first, actual, paid shift.
Thankfully, he had gotten all of his belongings packed and sent off to this new place, so all he really had to do was sort everything into his preferred arrangements.
It took way too long.
He had spent hours running around, back and forth. Constant 100 metre sprints throughout what he should consider his home. However, in reality, Jeremy just regarded this as a steppingstone, a place to stat until he reached his penultimate goal. It was almost 6AM when Jeremy crashed, not even realising that he had almost pulled an all-nighter, focusing on perfecting his living space. What a great way to start this supposedly great new part of his life.
Damn.
