Chapter Text
To say Wednesday was apprehensive about the date was an understatement. She was fucking TERRIFIED. Her and Enid had been dating for almost 4 months now (not that she was counting or anything) and this was the first time Enid had planned the date.
And it was a surprise.
A fucking SURPRISE.
As anyone who knew Wednesday addams was reminded frequently, the last person to surprise Wednesday lost a hand. But, since it was Enid, and she couldn't bear to disappoint her girlfriend (not that she was soft or anything, she simply found it hard to concentrate on writing with Enid whinging at her from across the room), she had gone along with it. Which she was now majorly regretting.
"Wednesday!!"
She heard Enid's voice ringing out over Jericho's cobbled paths, and turned to see the blonde werewolf waving at her far too energetically for a Saturday morning-or, in sleep-deprived Wednesday's case, any morning-and balancing two coffee cups in a Weathervane paper bag. Wednesday fought back a smile at her girlfriend's infectious energy and walked over to her.
She opened her mouth to speak but was interrupted by Enid shoving a coffee cup at her and, without pausing for breath, blurting out: "OMGWednesdayimsosorryimlateiwenttobuyyoucoffeebutthequeuewashugeandthenwhenigottothefrontirealisediforgotmypurseandhadtorunhometogetitbutimhereandibroughtcoffeeand-"
At this point Wednesday cut her off with a kiss.
"Do you ever stop for breath, Sinclair? I understood precisely none of that unessicarily long monologue."
Enid, now looking extremely frazzled from both the coffee hassle and the kiss, sighed and rolled her eyes, feigning annoyance.
"Basically, I'm here and I brought you coffee. A quad over ice, your usual order-and a strawberry frapuccino for me, of course."
Looking rather too pleased with herself in Wednesday's opinion, Enid produced a bright pink, over-sugared, foamy monstrosity of a drink from her bag and sipped it in between words.
"I hope you're looking forwards to our surprise date!" Enid grinned in a way that very clearly showed she knew Wednesday was feeling the exact opposite of exited.
"We should get there in about...." She made a hugely over-the-top display of checking her watch (pink and sparkly, like most things Enid owned).
"Two minutes!"
"Are you going to tell me where this mysterious place we're headed is?" Wednesday grumbled.
"Let me think...... NOPE!!" her personal ray of sunshine replied.
After only a minute of walking, Enid walking Wednesday and supplying directions, Enid spun Wednesday round to face....
A temporary ice rink?
Wednesday loved it. It was small, virtually empty and not nearly as eye-strainingly bright as Wednesday had anticipated.
Strings of fairy lights in muted colours like maroon and burgandy were wrapped around the posts of the enormous white tent covering the ice. A cute stall sold hot chocolate, coffee and gingerbread off to the side of the rink. An assortment of mismatched, vintage looking chairs and sofas provided a view of Jericho, smothered in frost and almost achingly beautiful, and the perfect place to enjoy a romantic drink. Which reminded her....
The best thing about today wasn't the beautiful scenery, or the wonderful choice of activity, but the girl standing right next to her.
Enid looked nervous, obviously trying to guess Wednesdays opinion from her infuriatingly blank face. Her hair was in disarray. It looked, Wednesday thought, as though she'd been electrocuted and was somehow still painfully beautiful-a feat which she had no doubt Enid could pull off. She was wearing pale pink lipstick to match her new winter coat (a present from Wednesday) and all Wednesday wanted to do was kiss it off her lips, to look up and see her own black lipstick smeared across her girlfriend's face and neck.
God, she was beautiful.
Almost as if she could read the other girl's thoughts, the corners of Enid's mouth twitched up in a hopeful smile.
"Do you.... Like it?" she asked apprehensively.
"Like it? I love it! It's perfect!" Wednesday exclaimed, her face breaking out into a rare grin.
Enid grinned back and Wednesday's face softened.
"And.... I love you."
Enid stared back at her, and for a second Wednesday wanted nothing more than to lose herself in Enid's gaze, to hide herself away from the rest of the world, to spend the rest of her life looking into her girlfriend's starry blue eyes, the eyes that to her, looked like flying saucers sent purely to captivate her.
After what seemed like hours, Enid replied.
"I love you too, Wednesday. More than you will ever know."
And Wednesday just smiled, letting her girlfriend take the win- but of course she knew.
Wednesday loved Enid even more.
