Chapter Text
Captain Turbot hummed to himself as he grabbed a few of the free snacks at the party Mayor Goodway threw to celebrate a meteor shower. There was an upbeat song playing and lots of people were dancing. He even saw Mayor Humdinger shaking his head to the beat as people took their turns at the telescopes.
Seeing Mayor Humdinger was looking intently at the dance floor, Captain Turbot followed his line of sight to see the newest couple in town. The town hero Ryder, and "former" Super Baddie Harold Humdinger.
No one expected the two to actually take the deal Ryder made to be set free any further than the first date, but here they were. Big smiles on their faces, dancing together as the song came to an end.
Rubble, as the DJ, spoke to bring in the next song. "Time to slow it down for a bit. Grab your partner or grab a snack as we head into the first slow dance of the night."
Ryder and Harold's faces each adopted a blush as they looked at each other before Ryder gave him a smile and held out his hand.
Turbot thinks he said, "May I have this dance?" And Harold smiled, accepting the hand and Ryder, clearly giving Harold plenty of time to pull away if he was uncomfortable, placed a hand on his waist and led Harold across the dance floor, the blond's hand going to Ryder’s shoulder.
It wasn't any specific kind of dance, just rocking back and forth and spins, but with both smiling wide and looking in the others eyes, it would take an idiot to not be able to see how much they cared.
Speaking of, the Captain looked to Mayor Humdinger, able to tell the man was angry, but just barely holding himself back from interrupting the two.
Five of the six pups seemed to share similar thoughts as they watched the couple spin. Not wanting to ruin Ryder’s happiness, but no one could blame the pups for being cautious after what Harold's done.
Deciding not to get involved unless it was needed, he simply finished grabbing the snacks before going to stand next to Francois. Tonight wasn't about judging relationships. It was about enjoying the beauty of the meteor shower.
