Work Text:
It had been almost 1 year since Jason and everyone else, fortunately, escaped alive. He would sometimes still think about those deadly caverns only to pull himself back to the present to reaffirm that it was in the past. He had left the military shortly after the incident to start a new life, he had gotten a new job and life went on. His life wasn't exciting or fun though, the most fun he got was by flipping through TV stations. The days blurred together as Jason went to bed on another boring day. The next morning started like any other when a knock at his door started, Jason was confused for a second when more knocks kickstarted him to open the door.
It was...Salim? Wasn't he meant to be in Iraq? Salim smiled and jump to wrap his arms around Jason, his masculine hands felt warm on Jason's skin. Jason temporarily lost all control and pulled him closer in an attempt to get more of his body heat, Salim didn't make any attempt to pull away. It didn't take too long for Jason to realize what he was doing and let go, his cheeks got slightly pinker.
"Hey," started Jason.
"Hey back." God, why did social interaction have to be so hard?
"Why are you here?"
"I was hoping you would ask, it's been one year since we met and so I wanted to do something special!"
"O-Oh, it's been that long huh."
"Yep, and you'll never guess what we're going to be doing today!" Salim had the cutest biggest smile ever at that moment. Wonder what's got him so excited.
"I give up."
"We are going to be ice skating!" What? No seriously, what?
"Ice skating? That's what got you so excited?" Salim's smile slightly drooped and at that moment Jason would have done anything to bring it back up.
"...It never snows in Iraq..." Oh, right...
"Well, okay then. When are we doing this?"
"Now." Say what? I have barely had time for breakfast and you want to go ice skating now? However, of course, all basic needs come second to seeing Salim happy soooo...
"Okay, just wait a second. I'll be right out."
10 minutes later
Jason and Salim finally arrive at the ice rink, it's filled with so many skilled people which made Jason scared that he might embarrass himself in front of Salim.
Salim moves for them to go on the ice, but Jason is hesitant. At this, Salim grabs his hand. If Jason wasn't blushing before, he was now.
"I'll hold your hand, but I draw the line at cuddling." Salim chuckles at the thought of it. This man, why is he the way he is?
"In that case, ice here I come." Salim then pulls him onto the ice, and Jason immediately loses balance despite holding onto Salim. Salim stops and gets him stable. He is so gentle, and Jason wonders how a man can be so perfect.
Finally, Jason was able to stand on his own, he would feel good about this if Salim hadn't already started skating around like he had been skating his whole damn life. Salim and Jason both met back up when they both had enough of the ice rink.
"You seem to be really good for someone who has never done it before."
"It made me try hard to do good knowing you were watching me."
"You cared about impressing me?"
"Well, yeah," Salim said as if it were the most obvious thing.
"Huh, it's funny because I've been trying to impress you." Salim looked amused at that.
"I guess we wanted to impress each other."
Salim moved in closer. It felt like both knew what was about to happen and were waiting to see who would go first. Salim leaned in closer and kissed Jason, Jason was surprised but didn't have any complaints as he kissed back. The kiss went on for what felt like forever but was probably not that long, finally, they pulled apart.
"So, can you make room for just a little bit of cuddling?"
Salim kissed him again at that.
