Together

Summary:

Byakuya and Makoto had some tension between them from a while back, never talked about it, never discussed about it, they just were conscious about it, all the time, and finally, something was happening.

Notes:

Only disclaimer: English is not my first language, so, sorry if some things are just weirdly worded.

Work Text:

Makoto arrived first, seated on one end of the table and waited for the others to arrive to start eating. It didn't take long for everybody to arrive, Byakuya included. He quietly seated next to Makoto, and started eating in silence, as usual. Everybody was talking lively, it was dinner time and they were all eating in a large table. Makoto was trying his best to not to look too much at him, but he was as obvious as he can be. Byakuya chuckled and muttered to Makoto.

"Aren't you looking at me too much?".

Oh, Makoto's face started to get a little bit red, so he looked away. But it wasn't long until he felt some cold hands hold his under the table. Makoto quickly looked at Byakuya with disbelief, and he just looked away for a moment. Byakuya and Makoto had some tension between them from a while back, never talked about it, never discussed about it, they just were conscious about it, all the time, and finally, something was happening.

Makoto squeezed Byakuya's hand, and whispered to him.

"Your hands are cold".

Byakuya replied.

"Warm them up".

They continued eating while holding hands, even though it was kind of uncomfortable. Makoto talked normally with his friends, and Byakuya just listened. Some time passed until everybody finish eating and started to head back to their dorms; Makoto was still holding Byakuya's hand and he didn't have the intention of letting him go, but Byakuya had other plans.

"If you have time, I would like to talk to you about something".

Byakuya said, Makoto let Byakuya's hand go, and they both stood up. Even though it was late, Makoto followed him to the library, and both entered in silence.

Makoto was feeling nervous, and nervousness make him do stupid stuff, so he was trying his best to not do say or do something stupid, as he had no idea what was Byakuya thinking.

"What did you wanted us to talk about?".

Makoto asked, but Byakuya ignored him, and started to walk around the bookshelves, as if he was looking for something.

"Did you know that I am multilingual?"

Byakuya said as he took a book off a shelf, Makoto walked towards him.

"I guess is something I would expect from the Ultimate Affluent Progeny"

Makoto answered honestly, Byakuya chuckled.

"Yes, I guess so".

Byakuya took the book in his hands, and started looking for something, Makoto just stared at him silently.

"I've been reading these past couple of days, and I found something rather interesting"

He said, Makoto took a look at the book, and it was indeed in another language.

"This is an anthology of poems, I don't usually find myself interested in this kind of themes, but, for this past couple of months I've been having a feeling that I could not explain nor understand, so I thought that maybe I could find an answer here".

"And did you?".

"More so, however, I think I have my answer".

Byakuya put the book down, and got closer to Makoto to hold his hand, again.

"Being or not being with you is my time measurement"

Byakuya said. Makoto's face was now burning, he could feel a warm feeling expanding from his face to his neck and his ears.

"It is, I know it, love: anxiety, and the relief of hearing your voice".

The low light didn't allow anybody to notice his reaction, but his heart was about to explode.

"What... What are you saying?".

"One of my favorite poems".

He replied, and Makoto felt dumb again. They were holding hands again and they still haven't made an improvement at all. Makoto's skin was itching, his hands, his neck, his face, his lips, and there was just one thing he could think about to make it stop. So he pulled Byakuya's suit with his free hand and connected their lips together.

It was a short kiss that tasted rather sweet. When Makoto pull himself back, he found Byakuya's face flustered.

"W-Wait" .

Byakuya's skin was very white and pale, so it was so much more notorious the blush growing in his cheeks.

"This... Wasn't what you wanted?".

"I, yes, but, I- I wasn't prepared for your barbarian manners".

Makoto smiled. Hold Byakuya's face and caressed his cheek.

"I thought you were being kinda brave just now, saying all those things about poems and love".

Byakuya's face got redder, if it was possible. He looked away again, and Makoto's smile grew even bigger.

"Shut up".

"Can I kiss you again?".

"Do you have to ask that kind of stuff?".

"I mean... I'm trying to fix my barbarian manners".

And they kissed, again and again. Byakuya's skin was soft at Makoto's touch, his face, his cheeks, his hands and his arms, everything was like a dream. And Byakuya has never been a person who enjoyed any kind of sweets, but Makoto's lips were the perfect kind for him.

They were both new at it, so their kisses were clumsy. When their teeth hit, or when Makoto would bite Byakuya's lips out of a rush of adrenaline, they would both laugh. When Makoto would hold Byakuya by his waist and Byakuya would cross his arms at Makoto's shoulders, they would both feel a tingle and laugh. And when they would finally finish kissing, they would both laugh about how their lips looked, red and swollen.

They would learn, and they would learn together.
