Billy Hargrove. He has a perfect life, right?

Work Text:

Billy Hargrove. He has a perfect life, right? Attractive, chicks love him, freaks fear him. He'd never have to hide anything like this because it cant be happening to him. He has everything. Sure sometimes he shows up to school hiding behind his hair. And sure sometimes when he moves that hair he has a black eye. But he says he walked into a wall. And who would question Billy? Even if they wanted to, he'd probably give them much worse than a black eye.

But they'd be right to question. Billy Hargrove has a secret that a total of six people know. Himself, Max, Susan, Billy's mom, Neil and Steve Harrington. Yep. Steve fucking Harrington. Steve Harrington knows about how Neil treats Billy. And it pisses him off to no end. So when he escapes he obviously goes to the Harrington house.

The metalhead knocks on the Harrington house door and steps back.

When Steve opens the door he's greeted by a beaten, bruised and incredibly tired Billy.

"What the fuck happened?-"

Billy let out a pained laugh.

"My dear old dad decided he wanted a punching bag for the weekend. I just so happened to be home." Billy explained.

"Oh sweetheart... Can I hug you?"

"Please don't-"

"Alright, that's fine, are you at least staying here?"

Billy goes silent for a second.

"...Billy?"

"Sorry..."

Steve tears up.

"Please, Billy, don't leave me- Billy, please-"

"Don't cry- please don't cry-" begged the metalhead, "I love you, but I can't come and live with you, it's too obvious. I'm sorry, I need to keep you safe. And myself."

The blond nodded, "I'm sorry, I know it's obvious but I haven't seen you in ages."

"I know, I'm sorry."

"So where are you going? Also, did you just admit you love me?" inquired the short haired boy.

"Oh- um- California... And yeah I might as well own up to it if I'm leaving..."

If he's honest, Steve didn't hear anything past "California."

"YOU'RE MOVING TO CALIFORNIA?!"

Billy flinched and nodded.

Steve let his tears freely fall.

"I'm sorry."

The shorter turned and walked away, feeling tears prick at his crystal blue eyes.
