Work Text:

Even though the two have been rivals and friends for as long as they can remember. There was still a lot of things that Gray to learn about Natsu that he kept secret from the guild. After that day that Gray caught Natsu while he was practicing the dance that Igneel taught him, Gray made it his mission to discover every little quirk that Natsu kept hidden.

It became a game between the two. Natsu would hit at certain points but would never tell Gray in detail what it was. But the ice mage had a feeling that today he was going to find out something today as he saw the look Natsu was giving Sting as they sat across from each other in one of the guildhall booths meanwhile, Sting was laughing his ass off.

"What does you suppose they are talking about?" Lucy asked.

"I have no idea, but Natsu surely looks mad." Lisanna answered.

"Nah, he isn't mad. But I would say he just might kick Sting's ass again." Gray comments looking back over.

-------

The guildhall on the most part was peaceful with small and frequent shouts coming from the table full of dragon slayers. At least that was until Sting had opened his mouth again.

The next words out of Natsu's mouth were in a language that none of them except the dragon slayers recognized and it carried a heavy accent.

"Natsu! There are children! You can't say that!" Gajeel said who was now losing his shit.

"It doesn't matter! Wendy has heard worse from your damn mouth than any of ours so shut the hell up you bastard!" Natsu yelled still carrying that heavy accent.

"What did you even say?" Erza asked.

"Trust me Erza you don't want to know." Rogue said with a laugh.

"I should kick your ass right here in the middle of this guildhall." Natsu said glaring at Sting.

"Try me." Sting challenged.

"Bring it!" Natsu yelled standing up.

Gray stood up and grabbed Natsu's waist before he could launch himself at the white dragon slayer who was also now standing up. "Alright, calm down pyro." Gray said with a small laugh.

Natsu huffed and started pouting as he relaxed after he mumbled another slur under his breath in a different language. Sting looked at Natsu with a playful offended look on his face.

-------

Later that day Natsu was with Gray in his apartment. "So, you want to tell me about that language that you were speaking?" Gray asked from the kitchen.

Natsu looked up from the few job requests that he had picked up from the guild. "It's called Draconic. The language of the dragons. It was the language Igneel and the other dragons spoke." Natsu answered.

"So, you're fluent in it?" Gray asked curiously.

Natsu nods "Yeah, Igneel also taught it to me. Most things related to the dragons Igneel taught me, but now that my memories are coming back, I'm starting to actually remember my past. Unfortunately, that also means the same for the other dragon slayers." Natsu deadpanned.

Gray laughed "I'm assuming that has something to do with what happened to today at the guild?"

Natsu nods "Sting was an asshole when we were kids."

"I'm surprised that Gajeel wasn't." Gray said handing him a cup of tea.

"Oh! He was to! But! Gajeel and I also were also busy trying to get back at Sting and Rogue when they would play tricks on us." Natsu answered.

"What about Wendy?"

"It depended on who "recruited" her on each trick." Natsu answered honestly. "Sometimes she would help Sting and Rogue others she would help Gajeel and I. Don't let that cute face of her's fool you either! She is a demon when it comes to stuff like that!" Natsu added.

"No! Not Wendy!" Gray grinned

"Yes! Wendy! Our sky dragon slayer!" Natsu shouted.

Gray chuckled a bit. "That I would love to see." Natsu quickly shook his head in response. "No, no you don't."

-------

That night Gray was reading a book and cuddling with Natsu. It was a peaceful silence over the two. Usually, the silence didn't last long, and it would soon be interrupted.

"Hey Gray?" Natsu called out looking up at him. There it was, Gray placed his book down wrapping his arms around Natsu with a small hum letting Natsu know he was listening.

"Aishteiru." Natsu said as the same heavy accent from early appeared. Surprisingly it didn't show as much when he spoke Fioriean but whenever he spoke Draconic it would appear and Gray thought it was kind of cute.

Gray looked at Natsu a little confused as a smile appeared on Natsu's face. "It means I love you." he answered. Gray could have sworn he felt his heart melt.

He tightened his arms around Natsu. "I love you to pyro."

Notes:

I thought it would be a little cool and ironic to use Japanese as my version of Draconic.
