Work Text:
I glanced at the clock mounted on the plained-brown wall of my room. It was ten minutes past nine. I closed my eyes as the dizziness was getting worse and worse. I massage my head gently. Even with the slight touch, I could feel an unnatural temperature on my forehead. Well, I got fever. Not something surprising, considering I let my body perfectly exposed to the rain, yesterday.
I tried to get up, but in less than five seconds, my body almost touching the cold-marble floor, if only there were no other hands tightly gripping my arm.
"I told you earlier, didn't I? don't get out of your bed before I come." Chuuya's hand moved to get rid a few strands of hair that covering my face. "If only I didn't come on time, I'm not sure your head would be safe."
I rolled my eyes. Not too surprised by his presence. In fact, I'm just grateful—because what Chuuya said wasn't completely wrong.
"You didn't even knock my door, but suddenly appeared in my room." I replied later. Even without looking at his face, I could immediately sure that he was Chuuya. The strong scent of musk wafting from his body was too easy to recognize.
Chuuya smiled faintly, then helped me to sit back of my bed. "Y'know, this is an emergency, so I don't need to say any greetings or even knock your door. You know it yourself, don't you? You can't even walk normally."
"What do you mean by emergency? I just have a light-fever—” Chuuya gently put his index finger on my lips. "Shh, okay. What were you going to take?"
"No, you don't need to—”
"What do you want, honey?"
My heart fluttered. The intense pain that visited my head just now, miraculously disappeared without a trace.
"Water."
Chuuya frowned, "Are you going to take a bath?"
“No, you dump! I'm just thirsty!”
Chuuya chuckled before turning around. "I'll get your breakfast too."
I nodded weakly at his words.
Not a long after, Chuuya appeared carrying a bowl of chicken porridge and a glass of water. He positioned to sit beside me, and gave me the glass of water he had brought earlier.
While I was drinking it, he takes a scoop of the porridge.
"Chuuya."
He locked his gaze on me. There was a worried look on his face when he heard me suddenly say his name. "What's up, love? Feel any sick?"
I shook my head. "I have no appetite."
Chuuya sighed. "Eat now, or I'd leave you."
I scowled.
"Five mouthfuls first, okay?"
"Four."
"Okay, six."
I put on a bitter smile. "Damn you, Nakahara Chuuya, you're lucky you're cute."
Chuuya responded with a smile, and motioned me to open my mouth. I chewed the first mouthful with an odd expression, that he noticed right away.
"Does it not taste good?"
"Nah, I'm just kind of nauseous."
Chuuya quickly put his bowl on the nightstand beside my bed, and handed me a glass of water. "Nauseous? We haven't done anything yet."
"Don't say such nonsense."
"Alright, then. Three more mouthfuls, okay?”
I gave a thumbs up, paying attention to him that took the bowl of porridge he had placed earlier.
While spooning the porridge, he attempted to ask a few questions, "how was your headache?"
"It disappeared. Since you came." I chewed while staring at him. "How was your work?"
Chuuya is a man who prioritizes work above all else. But fifteen minutes ago he came here without hesitations. Yet, contradictory, he seemed to think that it is something I shouldn't be worried about.
"I need you to be recover first."
Damn it.
"It's okay for you to go back to work, I can take the medicine myself."
Chuuya gave an intimidating look. "Baby, don't you get it? I said that it was okay, you don't have to worry."
“Chuuya seriously, I am okay too. It's just a light fever, I'll be fine.”
“You are not, dear. In case you forget, that you can't even walk normally." The Sinoper then moved his hand to gently stroke my head. "If you mind, I'll be here until you sleep. I'll go back to my office afterwards."
“Yeah, sure. I think that is the best choice we could take. I just don't want to bother your work."
Chuuya closed his eyes, as if he absolutely bored with that sentence. "When I said that you're my urgency, my number one priority, my biggest distraction—I meant it. I can't think about work, when my girlfriend is currently sick. So please, get well first."
The sentence was final, indicating that the words just now did not accept any kinds of rebuttal.
I finished my chow in one gulp, while Chuuya placed the emptied-bowl on my desk.
After finishing the water in the glass, I got rid of the blanket that had wrapped my feet.
"I'm here, pretty. What do you need?” Chuuya said, as he realized my gesture just now.
I stood up, making him widened his eyes. "I need to go to the bathroom, don't be exaggerated."
He frowned, “wanna take a shower? Aren't you still feverish?"
"Oh God. You're overprotective, don't you know? I need to wash my face and change my clothes."
Chuuya nodded in understanding. "I'll accompany you there."
I glared at his offer, "no please-"
"If you refuse, I'll carry you."
Oh God.
---
"I told you, yesterday. Wait there, let me pick you up, after getting my car. It's all happened because you didn't obey me." Chuuya chattered while tearing the package of paracetamol medicine he bought this morning and held out the medicinal pill to my hand.
I smiled wryly. "Sorry."
He chuckled. The Redhead didn't wipe his smile until I finished my last sip.
"Aren't you going back to work now?"
"I'll wait until you fall asleep."
After making sure I was lying down comfortably, he pulled the blanket up until it covers my body. "Cold?"
“Not really.”
Chuuya nodded slightly. "Any complains?"
I shook my head quickly. "I'm totally fine now, babe. Just go back to your work.”
He didn't respond, but turned around and sat on the sofa in the corner of my room. He seemed busy with his cell phone.
My head throbbed again, my eyes felt heavy. I started to close my eyes, fade the projection from Chuuya's presence on the sofa.
Chuuya sighed heavily as he read several spam messages, and missed calls from his office colleagues. His fingers move swiftly replying to these messages.
After that, Chuuya pocketed his cellphone again, and glanced around at his girlfriend who was now drifting off to sleep. A paper-thin smile appeared on his handsome face as he drew closer, and landing a kiss on her forehead later.
“Sleep tight, love. I'm here all day."
And here it ends. Nakahara Chuuya never returned to the office that day.
