Chapter Text
It was late, and you were starting to get sleepy. You were fighting back yawns, wanting to be awake for Aaron coming home tonight. He had promised he would come back to you tonight; the case was basically over. You missed him terribly when he was away, but you knew he adored his job, so you always tried to stay positive. Tonight though, you were willing to do anything to be back in his arms. You flicked through tv channels mindlessly, trying to distract yourself into making time go quicker. You found something in black and white with a laugh track and thought maybe it would keep you interested, trying to see if each laugh was the same, or if there really was an audience.
- I’ll just close my eyes for a minute, you thought. Just for a second.
Your lids were heavy, and you decided you could judge the laughter with your ears. There was no colour anyway it hardly mattered if you didn’t watch. A second before you passed out you wondered how long until your boyfriend was home.
You woke to a gentle kiss placed on your forehead and you heard something be placed on the floor. You lifted your head, your neck aching from falling asleep at a weird angle. A hand rested itself on your shoulder, and you turned, bleary-eyed, to see Aaron looking at you with so much affection.
- Hey sleepyhead, he grinned at you.
You could barely mumble back, sleep still invading most of your senses.
When he saw how out of it you were, he walked around the sofa and carefully lifted you into his arms. He carried you into the bedroom and gently lay you on the mattress. You lifted your legs so he could pull back the duvet to tuck you in, and he remembered to remove your socks exactly as you always did before sleep. You murmured sounds that sounded appreciative and loving, eliciting a melodic laugh that would make you grin ear to ear if you were more conscious. You heard something clatter on the ground, followed by the sound of clothes falling on the ground before the mattress shifted and you could feel the heat coming from him.
Aaron curled under the duvet next to you, wrapping your feet in his own, keeping them warm like you often asked him too. He snuck an arm under your neck and pulled you towards him. His chest was against your back and you felt like a teddy bear was cuddling you. He was so cosy. Planting a kiss to your shoulder, he whispered to you.
- Sweet dreams baby, I adore you.
You fell asleep again, this time with a smile on your face.
