Summary:

Ranmaru plays piano on Saturdays and Sundays for the Sunrise Cafe.

Sara starts working at the cafe after her parents finally let her work under Kai, the Sunrise Cafe owner.

Notes:

Hello fellow reader who clicked on this! I hope you enjoy this little silly brainrot fic I wrote.

I might expand on this idea more in another fic. I’m not completely sure, I have ideas though.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Ranmaru skated toward the cafe he worked at, a backpack on his back. It was a cool October morning and fall was just starting to show in town. His skateboard rolled over the crunchy, dead leaves of nearby trees. Arriving at the cafe, the sign in bright white lettering saying Sunrise Cafe , he walked into the place.

It wasn’t too crowded, he got there right before rush hour to make the most money he could with tips. He was a piano player whom the cafe paid to play for the customers on Saturday and Sunday. He’d play from 9am-2pm and get whatever tips he was given. The cafe paid him, but the tips were his main source of money.

Shin greeted him at the register. “Morning Ranmaru, do you want anything before you play?” He asked.

“Sure. I’ll take a latte.” Ranmaru replied, waving back nervously.

“Alright, I’ll have it ready in a minute.” Shin replied.

I will never get used to his deadpan tone will I? He thought to himself as he set up his things by the piano.

The piano was set up in the back area of the cafe. Though you could still see him playing through the window if you were walking by. It was also a bit far from the other tables, giving him a space to work. The cafe had an overall brighter aesthetic, the walls had a cream color and the counters and tables were white. The piano was a contrasting black, giving it an elegant look.

“I thought Kugie was supposed to work this morning? Don’t you usually start at 10?” Ranmaru asked, approaching the main counter.

“Apparently her and Kanna are going to shop at the mall today. A girls day out or whatever, so I’m covering her shift today.” Shin replied, sighing.

Ranmaru nodded. I know I should probably ask him what’s wrong but he’ll just get mad. He’s so protective of his sister, though he’s probably just lonely. Wonder if he’s with that detective guy yet.

Shin put a dark blue mug in front of Ranmaru. “Here’s your coffee.” He told him.

“Thanks.” Ranmaru replied, taking a sip of the coffee.

“I heard we’re getting a new employee today.” Ranmaru told Shin. “Have you heard anything about them?”

“She’s a high school student like you, a 17 year old third year. She knows Kai through family ties it seems. According to Kai she’s a bit of an extrovert and a good worker. She already knows the basics but I’m watching over her on her first day. I wonder how good she is, considering she got in through Kai, and he doesn’t choose workers who slack off.” Shin replied. “She’ll probably be here in a few minutes, so you can meet her then.”

Ranmaru continued to drink his coffee. “Yeah I’ll probably meet her. What was her name?”

“Sara Chidouin.” Shin answered.

Ranmaru’s heart did an odd flip in excitement.

I recognize that name. I think that’s the pretty girl who’s in both my math and science classes. I hope so at least.

“Thanks.” Ranmaru replied. Leaving the mug on the counter for Shin, he walked back over to the piano to set up his music list.

About 10 minutes before he was set to begin, the door opened and a girl entered. She was wearing the normal work uniform and her ginger hair was tied up in a high ponytail. Her banges fell just above her eyes, though a chunk of her hair fell to the side of her head. Most likely a style choice.

Ranmaru’s eyes widened. This is definitely that girl from my math and science classes. No one could really forget what a girl like her looked like. He thought to himself.

She was probably one of the more popular people at school. She was friends with almost everyone and had a pretty large friend group. She was definitely pretty, smart and could absolutely kick anyone's ass.

Ranmaru sighed and turned back to the piano. I definitely don’t have a chance with someone like her. I’d be surprised if she wants to be friends with someone as anxious as me. He shook his head and blinked a few times to clear his head. Just focus on work. Sara doesn’t matter right now.

Warming up a bit on the piano, he sighed and started his shift of piano playing.

Ranmaru was someone with anxiety. With little to no social skills, making friends was his worst enemy. He was basically the lonely art kid who played piano, not that anyone knew he played it. Nothing more nothing less.

Yet when he played piano, all his anxiety melted away even for just a minute. When his hands touched the keys, the piano sucked his anxiety away and he felt confidence. He was happy, his worries gone. That’s why he’d practice for hours on end at home, learning song after song. Escaping his anxiety, just for a moment, was all Ranmaru could ask for.

So taking a job that wouldn’t cause him to have a panic attack was the best thing he could’ve asked for.

He remembers that he was playing a piano in a local music shop, testing out what pianos they had. When, out of nowhere, a tall man with dark hair approached him and introduced himself as Kai.

“Would you like to work part time at my cafe to play piano for the customers?” Kai asked.

Ranmaru was beyond shocked. Someone asked him to play, for money? This was the owner of the popular cafe, Sunrise Cafe. He’d definitely get paid well with the amount of customers.

“I-I umm. I can do that, yeah.” Was how Ranmaru replied. “You’re the owner of Sunrise Cafe right?”

My parents needed me to get a job anyway. He thought, laughing to himself internally.

“I am.” Kai replied, giving him a business card. “Come to my cafe and we can talk about everything there. I’ll be there tomorrow morning for your answer.”

“Thanks.” Was all Ranmaru could reply with before Kai was gone like the wind.

Never knew I’d get a job that way. I don’t think he’s even heard me play before, considering I don’t play much around others. Someone probably heard me play at school, I’m not entirely sure.

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.

Turning off the alarm, Ranmaru kept playing to finish off his last song. Playing the last note, a few people in the crowd clapped for his performance. Ranmaru laughed a bit as he put the piano chair back and grabbed his things.

It’s always odd to hear the crowd clap for me. Even now working here for 3 months, I can never get used to the feeling. Ranmaru thought, grabbing the tip jar.

Looking into the tip jar he brought, it was extra full today, the fall cold bringing in more customers. Walking up to the main counter, he was greeted by the new girl, Sara.

“Good afternoon. Great job with the piano playing! You were amazing!” Sara began.

Ranmaru laughed. “Thanks. I’ve been playing for about 10 years now so I have experience under my belt.”

“That’s really cool! Music was never my thing when I was younger. I’m more of a sports girl.” Sara replied. “What would you like though? I shouldn’t really have a conversation while on shift. Shin has been going hard on me today.”

“He’ll probably lighten up a bit overtime. He’s just like that. I’ll just have lemonade and a muffin though.” Ranmaru told her. After paying he went to a seat and put his things down. While Sara was making his food, he pulled out his iPad and started to draw. He’d count the tips later.

I can probably do a quick sketch before I leave. Shouldn’t be too creepy to draw a girl I just met. Inspiration is inspiration.

He drew Sara operating the coffee machine, holding a cup as the espresso fell into it. She had a bright smile on her face, proud of herself for working the machine right. Not counting getting his food when it was ready and eating it, he never stopped working until he was knocked on the head by Shin telling him to get the hell out when the clock hit 3 p.m. Sara, laughing in the background.

God that girl really is cute. Was Ranmaru’s only thought as he rode his skateboard home.

Sunday morning Ranmaru was greeted by Kugie.

“How did things go with Kanna yesterday? I heard from Shin that you spent the day with her.” Ranmaru asked her.

Kugie smiled. “It was great! There was a huge sale so we got Kanna some nice clothes.”

Ranmaru smiled back at her. He wasn’t exactly too sure how to respond to that, luckily he was saved by his phone dinging from a notification. Kugie seemed to get it as well, quickly pulling out her phone to check it.

Glancing at his phone, the notification was from the worker group chat from the cafe. Due to the fact that the cafe was a small business and everyone was friends, they made a big group chat for all the workers there. Which included Ranmaru apparently even though he only played the piano on weekends.

Shin added unknown number

Shin: This is the new worker Sara. She started yesterday so be nice to her.

Alice: says the meanest one here

Shin: stfu

Nao: you just proved his point lmao

Sara?: hello there everyone. Hope I can get along with you all

Alice: welcome welcome

Nao: hey Sara!

Me: Welcome Sara. I’m the piano player

from yesterday

Names Ranmaru

Ranmaru didn’t see Sara’s reply as he had to go get his coffee before he worked.

“What was going on in the cafe chat?” Kugie asked. “Also, you want a latte like usual?”

“Yeah I’ll take a latte, a new girl started working here. Her name is Sara.” Ranmaru replied. “Shin put her into the chat and everyone is giving their welcome.”

Kigue nodded. “We really do need more workers. It’s starting to get even more popular here. Glad we have someone new.”

“I’ll take a latte as well.” Ranmaru added.

“Sure. I’ll have it out in a minute.” Kugie replied, heading over to the espresso machine.

Nao and Alice would probably be coming soon. Early morning shifts usually consisted of one person, usually Kai, or Kugie if she felt like it. Since there was usually no rush in the early mornings at 5 am, working a one man shift was easy. That and Kai was the best and fastest coffee maker there. Kugie was also pretty damn fast, but no one could ever beat Kai.

Pulling out his phone again, his phone was pretty much blown up with messages from the cafe group chat. He also had a private message from Sara.

Sara:
hey are u playing the piano today as well?

Me: yeah I am

I play on Saturday and Sunday 9am-2pm

Sara: great

I’ll be there today then to hear you play

Me: oh thanks 😅

Glad you like my playing

Well Ranmaru was definitely not expecting that. He usually got compliments on his playing but Sara telling him that meant so much more. He felt his heart flutter and a smile appeared on his face.

Sara: ofc! Who wouldn’t like ur playing?!

Ur fucking amazing!

Me: you flatter me too much

Sara: 😂

See ya soon Ranmaru

He finished his coffee and put it out for Kugie. Then he walked to the piano and started to warm up a bit.

Maybe I’ll ask her if we can hang out sometime. Maybe after I finish today. See if she’s up for it, she seems to want to be my friend.

Let’s hope…

Ranmaru spotted Sara in the shop the moment he finished. It wasn’t hard to find her ginger hair, also the fact that she was right in front of him too. She got front row seats to his playing.

She waved at him and he went to sit next to her. She wore a simple purple blouse and long black pants. Ranmaru just had a simple black hoodie on and black jeans.

“Thanks for stopping by to hear me play.” Ranmaru started. “It’s not the hardest stuff I play, but it keeps the customers happy and entertained.”

Sara smiled. “I thought it was lovely. Though while we’re here I’d like to get to know you more.”

Well she’s direct. Though she definitely seems like the charismatic type. So I guess this is her style.

Ranmaru laughed in response, unsure of what to say. “Well fire away. I’m here for a while.”

And so Sara fired

Apparently Sara sang quite a lot. She did choir in her first year of high school. Though she kept up singing when she was home, she claimed she barely sings though. She just doesn’t want to waste the skills she learned in choir. Sara’s best friend is named Joe, who is dating a girl named Ryoko. While they have a friend group it’s usually just Sara and Joe that do things together. She knew Kai because he worked as their housemaker for a few years before starting up the cafe business. He’s still friends with the Chidouin family even now and sometimes has dinner with them.

That was all the time they had before having to leave for closing.

“Nice talking to you Sara.” Ranmaru said, getting on his skateboard with his backpack full of his stuff on his back.

“Hope to see you soon.” She replied.

Ranmaru waved as he took off for home. A smile on his face the entire way back.

When Ranmaru got home, he went to text his best friend, Anzu.

Me:
ok so u won’t believe  what happened

Anzu: omg what

Me: so you know Sara Chidouin from school?

Anzu: yeah

She’s hot af

Me: so she works at the cafe i work at and so I got her number

And

She seems interested

As a friend ofc

But she doesn’t hate me just yet

Anzu: 🫢

Who wouldn’t like you?!

Ur amazing!

Just part of the anxiety club

Me: and I have zero social skills

Anzu: don’t put yourself down like that

Ur great once someone gets to know u

Me: yeah whatever

Anzu: keep me updated on this

I need detail when you guys hang out

As your best friend it’s required

Me: sure

Anzu: 🥰

Ranmaru put his phone down. Anzu would probably be on his case now and try to get him and Sara together or something. But she’s also equally as anxious as him. So he didn’t worry too much.

Over the next 2 months, Ranmaru and Sara started to hang out more. Since they went to the same school, it was easier to meet up. They texted almost everyday. Even if it was just a funny video and the response was a reaction.

That’s also something Ranmaru noticed about Sara. She was a cat lover. She’d always send him cat videos and Ranmaru enjoyed them, he never suspected that Sara was a cat person.

Funny enough, Ranmaru had 2 cats of his own. Which Sara demanded pictures of almost daily. He didn’t take pictures of his cats often, but now he had a lot on his phone. Ready to send to Sara or already sent.

Though Ranmaru wasn’t introduced to Sara's friends yet. That concerned him a bit. Did Sara’s friends not like him already? Did Sara not like him as a friend? Did she hate him?

He shook his head to clear it.

That’s probably not her intention. Anzu tells me those are irrational thoughts. They can’t be proven.

He sighed as he skated up to Sunrise Cafe. It was a cool December morning, the cold was really starting to seep in. The first snow was approaching them. The weather was still nice though.

One thing he didn’t expect walking into the cafe however, was Sara and two other people sitting at a table. Seemed those were Sara’s friends.

Kai was working that morning and gave him a simple wave as he walked in. The boy at Sara’s table seemed to notice him and waved him over. He had spiky dark brown hair, with a yellow hair clip on his bangs. The boy wore a simple sweater and jeans and sat next to another girl with black hair.

Ranmaru walked over to them and waved at them nervously.

“So you’re that Ranmaru guy Sara talks about!” The boy exclaimed.

Ranmaru’s eyes widened and he went slightly red from embarrassment.

So she does talk about me. Ranmaru thought to himself.

“Yeah I guess that’s me.” Ranmaru replied.

“Morning Ranmaru.” Sara greeted. “This is my friend Joe.” She started, pointing to the boy. “And this is Ryoko.” She said, pointing to the girl with black hair. She waved in greeting.

“Nice to meet you all.” Ranmaru told them. He sat down next to Sara, across from Joe.

“I decided to show them your piano playing. Since you only play here and they’ve been busy for the past while.” Sara explained.

Ranmaru huffed out a laugh. “It’s fine. I’ll sit with you all for a bit then I gotta start playing.”

After talking with Sara and her friends a bit, he started his shift playing piano. Letting time fly by once again.

Ranmaru remembers the first day he played at Sunrise Cafe. Alice was on shift that morning, Nao coming in right about when he was set to play.

He had been to the cafe a few times already. Mostly on the weekends since the cafe was closed by the time he finished school. He could go in the morning, but he had no need to. He wasn’t an early bird, plus he could have caffeine at his house.

Ranmaru was five seconds away from having a full blown panic attack. He was super anxious for his new job at the Sunrise Cafe. He wasn’t even fully working there, he was just there for entertainment. The employees would probably call bull shit on him and make him leave. What if they hated his playing and he had to quit. He needed a job! His parents already get mad at him since he didn’t have one before. Losing one on the first day? He would truly be a disappointment.

He walked into the cafe, expecting the worst. He walked up to the main counter where a man with blue hair greeted him. He had a half shaved head where the side with hair was dyed blue and the shaved side was dyed in pink and yellow stripes. He looked like he belonged in a rock band.

“Good morning. What would you like to order?” He asked.

“Just a plain latte, for here.” Ranmaru replied, fidgeting with his belt loop. God he was so nervous.

The man nodded. “And what is the name for the order?”

“Ranmaru.”

That seemed to strike some memory in the worker because his face suddenly lit up. “So you’re the piano playing guy who works here now?” He asked.

Ranmaru laughed nervously. “Yeah that’s me.”

The man grinned. “Names Alice. Hope you play well today. Herd good stuff about ya.” He said.

Ranmaru nodded, completely confused at his reply.

At least Kai told them about me. That made it easier by a bit. Though I hope I’m good enough to keep the job.

Sitting down at a small table, Ranmaru went on his phone and texted Anzu. Hopefully she could calm him down.

Me:
Dying from anxiety over here

Save me

Anzu: I’ll be there in about 30-45

I have to clean my house

Sorry I couldn’t be there for you :(

Me: I understand

I just need to distract myself a bit before I go warm up

Anzu: shit gtg

Mom doesn’t want me on my phone

Me: alright see ya

So much for a distraction. Why did I get here so early? Ranmaru cried out internally.

“Ranmaru!” A voice called out.

Seemed his coffee was ready. Walking to where his name was called. A girl with pink hair tied in a bun smiled at him.

“Alice mentioned how you’re the new guy. I’m Nao, nice to meet you.” Nao said, a sweet smile on her face.

“Nice to meet you too Nao.” Ranmaru replied.

Going back to his chair, he tried to focus on the coffee and not his thoughts. Having a panic attack right before he was supposed to play was the stupidest thing he could do at the moment.

As he drank his coffee he took deep breaths.

In and out. In and out. You’ll be fine. Everyone says you’re good, that’s how you got the job. You’ll be fine.

After finishing his coffee, he returned the mug and went to the piano. It was a sleek jet back piano, probably from a thrift shop. Ranmaru pulled out the chair and sat on it.

Here goes nothing.

He started to warm up his hands a bit, doing scales and general exercises. Then he pulled out a set list of music and started to play. His anxiety was sucked away as he got deeper into the music.

Finishing the last song, Ranmaru looked at the crowd. They didn’t clap for him or anything, they kept going along with their day. Not that he was expecting that though.

Grabbing his stuff, he looked around for Anzu, hoping to see her somewhere.

“Hey Rennie! Over here!” Anzu called out.

Ranmaru smiled and walked over to her.

Her first reaction was to gush about his playing. “You were so good! I knew you could do it!”

“Thanks. Glad you liked it, and maybe the others here too liked it.”

“I’m sure they did.” Anzu started. “I even overheard a conversation about how good your playing was. So I wouldn’t worry about it. You got the job, be happy about it!” She continued, waving her hands around like it was the end of the world.

Ranmaru laughed at her. “Yeah thanks for that. I’m gonna head home in a bit. I’ve had enough dealing with people for one day.”

He didn’t want to talk to the employees. They seemed nice but his anxiety had exhausted him for the day.

He was added to the cafe group chat the next week and got introduced to everyone.

He ended up meeting everyone either through them talking to him after his shift or the group chat. They all really were nice people.

After he finished his shift, he got another coffee and a snack and went back to Sara’s table and sat down.

Joe was the one to start. “Sara! You didn’t tell me this guy was that good! What else are you hiding from your best friend!” Joe faked being hurt, dramatically putting a hand over his heart.

Sara laughed a bit and replied, “It was a surprise. I told you to trust me when I said he was good!”

They all talked for a bit and said their goodbyes. Joe and Ryoko were going on a date that evening. Now it was just him and Sara.

“You wanna do something or just head home?” Ranmaru asked.

“My parents are expecting me home, so no sorry. They’re a bit strict with me since I’m an only child. They’re even stricter with boys. They think if I spend one day out with a boy I’ll start to date them or something. Joe being an exception.” Sara explained.

“That’s perfectly fine. We can always text or talk in school.” Ranmaru told her. Though he was quite disappointed internally. He had really been hoping to hang out with her in a more private area. Not that he would do something, it made him feel like he had a chance with her.

“Though my parents are both out Saturday evening next week. If I can convince Kai to let you come over with some bargaining then it should be fine.” Sara wondered. “Do your parents care if you’re over at someone’s house?”

Ranmaru shook his head. “They don’t really care. Just have to be home at a certain time and not get drunk or anything. Since I’m almost 18 they just let me do what I want.”

“Lucky.” Sara muttered. She muttered something else under her breath.

Ranmaru gave her a questioning look, but didn’t press on. “Keep me updated on how it goes. I’m free on Saturday so I can definitely come.” He told her, getting on his skateboard.

She nodded. “I will. See ya soon!”

Ranmaru waved as he made his way home. His heart was on cloud nine. Doing flips and was about to rip itself out of his chest to scream to the entire world. His face was read as a tomato, and he hoped they could hang out.

Ranmaru was finishing up some homework when his phone vibrated.

Sara: so I was able to convince Kai

He said yes but we have to be in his sight the whole time

So basically we’re stuck in the living room

Me: oh that’s fine

I’m just thankful Kai said yes

Sara: me too tbh

Meet after work and we’ll head to my house from there

Also you’ll have to be gone by 9:30

Kai’s orders

Me: yeah that’s fine

I can’t be out late usually anyway

Sara: nice

See ya tomorrow

Me: see ya

Ranmaru smiled. The universe liked him today, he looked forward to it.

The week went by quickly and soon enough, it was Saturday afternoon and Ranmaru was getting his afternoon coffee with Sara.

“So what time do your parents leave?” Ranmaru asked.

“They’ll be gone around 3:30. So we can stall on our way home. I already told my parents I’m going to the library so I’ll be gone when they leave.” She replied. “We do have to make a quick trip there though since I need to return a book. So I’m not completely lying to my parents.”

“Alright that’s fine. I’ve got nothing better to do today and my parents know I’m not gonna be home anyway.” Ranmaru replied.

I’m just happy to be with you in all honesty. Maybe one day, though I shouldn’t get my hopes up. Ranmaru thought to himself, a softer look on his face.

Sara nodded. “We should get going then. We can catch the train soon enough if we hurry up.”

Ranmaru nodded and they headed off to go catch the train.

After the trip to the library, they headed home. Making sure they ran late so Sara’s parents couldn’t see them. Returning to Sara’s house, they checked to make sure Sara’s parents weren’t home and they went inside.

“You remember the rules Sara?” Kai asked when they walked in.

She nodded. “Don’t go anywhere out of your sight, don’t break anything, and be done by 9:30. Preferably earlier.”

“Correct. I hope you two have a good time hanging out.” Kai replied. “I’ll take care of dinner so don’t worry.”

“Thanks!” They replied.

“It’s four now so what do you want to do first?” Sara asked.

“Karaoke?” Ranmaru replied. “I know you said you could sing. I sing a bit here and there myself so why not?”

Ranmaru was panicking. Was that too forward? I mean I want to hear her sing so this is the best way to ask. I just don’t wanna screw this up.

Sara was silent for a moment. “If that’s what you want, then sure. Why not.”

She turned on her TV and went to YouTube on it. Loading it up, she handed the remote to Ranmaru.

“You chose a song first. It doesn’t have to be a song I know.” Sara told him.

Ranmaru shrugged and decided to play Hayloft by Mother Mother. He didn’t really care that Kai was in the background, his anxiety was focused on him sounding like shit.

Yet as the intro played, he had no choice but to sing. And so he did. He was an average sounding singer. He wasn’t the best in the world but he could stay in key and not sound horrendous.

Looking over to Sara, he was shocked to see her face practically red.

Is she blushing because of me? No, that can’t be. I’m just lying to myself. She definitely doesn’t like me romantically. Even if it adds up just a bit, I won’t get my hopes up.

After he finished his song, he handed the remote to Sara.

“Y-you sounded really good.” She stuttered out. She didn’t say anything else as she typed in the next song.

Ok now I’m starting to actually think she likes me. No one does that unless they’re romantically interested in someone. At least from the romance books I’ve read.

He really tried to not gain hope. He probably got the wrong idea and she actually doesn’t like him.

Yet those thoughts stopped when he heard her sing. Her voice was amazing, she underestimated herself when she said she was in choir for a year. She definitely practiced or at least sang a lot more than she claimed.

Ranmaru’s whole body grew warm. If his entire body could blush it probably would be right now. His heart was going crazy, jumping around as though it just won the Olympics.

“Skip this song will never change this. Is it easy to act like it never happened?” Sara finished up the song.

“You were really good. You definitely sing more than you claim to.” Ranmaru told her, laughing a bit.

They sang for about an hour and a half before they ate dinner. With food in their stomachs and their voices used up for the day, they watched cat videos or pet videos in general with Kai for the next few hours. Soon enough though, he had to leave. As much as he didn’t want to. It was 9 pm and Kai wanted him to leave early.

Him and Sara left the house and stood outside in the cool night.

“See you tomorrow Sara. Thanks for having me over tonight.” Ranmaru told her, getting on his skateboard.

Sara has a nervous look in her eye, as though she was debating something. Seemingly having made her decision she went up to Ranmaru and kissed him on the cheek.

“Meet me early at the cafe tomorrow. I have something to tell you.” She muttered in his ear.

Oh. Oh. Oh god. She was actually interested in him.

“S-sure I’ll be there. See you tomorrow.” Ranmaru replied. Pushing his skateboard down the street. He left the neighborhood as fast as he could, playing it safe so Sara wouldn’t get in trouble.

His mind was going faster than a jet plane though.

Oh my fucking god. Oh my fucking god. Oh my fucking god. She kissed me on the cheek. She actually likes me. Oh my god. I never knew it was possible for someone to like me.

When he got home, he texted Anzu the news. He’s been keeping her updated over the past few weeks.

Me:
Sara just basically confessed to me

She kissed me on the cheek and asked me to meet her at work early tomorrow.

Anzu: OMG

THATS AMAZING

I TOLD U SHE LIKED YOU

Me: ur right

So fucking happy rn

Anzu: tell me all about it.

Rn

And so he did. He ended up calling her and telling her about it. She was ecstatic about it. Saying “it’s about time you got a partner.” And things like that.

Ranmaru went to sleep that night the happiest he’s been in a long while.

Ranmaru got up extra early to go to the cafe. Sara didn’t specify what time but he assumed before he normally got there.

Arriving at the cafe, it was still bright and early. He waited outside for Sara to arrive.

Me:
I’m here btw

Sara: I’ll be there in a few

Train ran late

Me: ok

I’ll be here

God he was so nervous. What if he actually did get the wrong idea. What if that kiss on the cheek was a goodbye? Or her letting him down slowly? God what if he fucked up again?

He was too busy worrying to notice Sara running towards him. He was snapped out of his trance when he noticed Sara hugging him.

“Morning Sara.” Ranmaru started, hugging her back tightly. He could get used to this.

“Let’s head to a more private area.” Sara muttered. They want to the back of the shop where they wouldn’t be seen

She smiled at him. “Sorry I couldn’t ask this last night. We ran out of time and Kai was there and all.” She had a nervous look in her eye. Ranmaru put a hand on her shoulder, hoping it would comfort her.

She took a big breath. “Would you like to be my boyfriend?” She asked.

Ranmaru replied instantly. “Of course I will.”

She looked at him, a big smile on her face.

God her smile is so beautiful. He thought.

“I’m glad then.” She replied, cupping his cheek.

He smiled and leaned in more until their lips touched. Considering they were both inexperienced, they weren’t really sure what exactly to do. But god Ranmaru loved it.

After a few minutes of off and on kissing they just looked each other in the eyes.

“We should head inside now. Since we both have to work.” Sara mentioned.

“Yeah let’s go do that.” Ranmaru replied.

Notes:

Thank you for reading! Here are some little notes.

-The song Ranmaru sang. It’s a pretty popular song as is but the link to it is here.

-The song Sara sang is Manic Pixie Dream Girl

-I didn’t put this in the fic but I feel like they would sing Don’t Stop me Now

-For those of you who know choir voice types I hc Ranmaru as a Tenor 1 and Sara as a Alto 1

Like I mentioned in the beginning of this fic, I might make a multi chapter fic of this cafe a.u some time in the future. I’ll have to see.
