Chapter Text
Being trapped by ice was, not ever supposed to be a pleasant experience. It bit at him, and his hands and legs could barely move. Still, Red had to carry on, using his bike to steady himself. Eventually, skipping many details, home was in sight. The numbness didn’t go away immediately, Blue had even called him out on it. Red had grinned.
Red had survived many, drowning, the Safari Zone’s Nidoking, the Executives, Silph Co.’s collapse, The Pokémon Tower, Giovanni. It was many an experience, and sure he had been roughed up, and he won’t lie that most of them were by the skin of his teeth, somehow scars didn’t grace his body much.
So as Red lays quietly in bed, he realizes, that he can barely move. He doesn’t remember why he woke up, but now he can’t feel a thing in his hands or legs. Logically, he thinks he could push himself up with an arm, but if Red tried to stand, he doesn’t think he could do it. As his eyes adjust to the light, it becomes apparent he’s not experiencing some pseudo-sleep paralysis or whatever. His hands and legs just aren’t working, he attempts to move them, and he gets nothing. He can’t feel a thing, no matter the sensory.
Red cranes his neck towards Pika, who’s snuggling on the bed with Poli. Sometimes he wishes he could fit everybody, but that’s pretty impossible, as much as Red wishes. But that’s not important, Red tries to nudge them, in some sort of way, but still can’t move. He whispers their names instead, thank goodness for his mouth and the rest of his body working, it actually wakes them up. They’re groggy and maybe a little cranky because of that, but Red needs to test this more.
He can’t feel their touch either, wincing softly at their confusion. Hours pass by as the dawn peeks its head.
This wasn’t good, was it?
