“Takano-san, let me go!”
The grip Takano had on his arm was bruising, and he lurched back, vainly trying to pull free. “Ritsu. What did I tell you about running off?”
Takano pressed him up against the wall of the stairwell. Ritsu shivered, tense as he felt his grip on his wrists tighten even further as he towered over him. “I’m not…”
“You’ve been taking the stairs just to avoid me, haven’t you?”
“No! I…”
Takano’s eyes grew dark.
“There’s nowhere left for you to run anymore.”
A cold knife of fear slid up Ritsu’s spine. “Please, let me go.” It came out a whisper, his voice low, shaking, betraying his fear.
“Why should I? You’ll just run away again.”
“I-I won’t. I promise.”
“I don’t believe you.”
Ritsu felt the beginnings of panic take a hold of him, his voice dying in his throat as Takano pushed a hand into his chest, holding him down as he leant in to whisper in his ear, “Did you forget that you’re mine?”
He must have mistaken Ritsu’s gasp of fear for arousal, or maybe he just didn’t care, because he slipped a hand under his waistline to touch him.
Ritsu’s panic spiked as he felt the hand began to grope at his crotch. With all the strength he could muster, he shoved Takano away, catching him off guard for a brief moment.
Takano stumbled backwards, barely catching himself on the railing before he fell. “What-”
“Get away from me!”
Ritsu didn’t think to wonder if his echoey shout could be heard from the stairwell through the sick panic overtaking his senses. His entire body was burning; he felt nauseous.
Takano frowned, coming closer. “You don’t mean that.”
“I do.”
“Ritsu, I love you.”
“Please stop.”
Takano reached out to grab his arms again, to pin them to his side no doubt; his wrists were still purpling with bruises from their last encounter of the kind, from less than a week before. Less out of thought than instinct, with full, primal, fear coursing through him, Ritsu desperately shoved him back one more time, just to get him away, away away except
In the blink of an eye, Takano tipped backwards, an inch too far, and he was falling, crashing, down the stairs. His head cracked with a sick smack on the third step down and he fell the rest of the way like a rag doll: limp and loose, limbs contorting in unnatural directions.
He landed at the bottom of the stairwell with a sickening crunch that Ritsu could tell to be bones. A crushing, snapping. His head was bleeding a waterfall of red.
Ritsu fell to his knees, trembling, stomach tight and feeling bile build in his throat until he threw up right onto his shoes.
Takano was dead. He was alone.
