Work Text:
The trip to the medical bay was slowly becoming a routine. Olivier would say that he drank too much the night previously, and Håvard was more than willing to provide IV for the other. It was becoming like clockwork for them both. Today wasn’t any different.
As Olivier walks to the medical bay for the second time this week. His thoughts began running rampant with excuses to explain his visitation this time. By the time Olivier reached the bright room, no excuse came to mind.
“Let me guess, you drank too much and you want an IV.” The Norwegian piercing the room. There stood Håvard, looking at Olivier with a smirk across his face.
“Didn’t I tell you that I wasn’t gonna do this anymore. I have already been lectured by Gustave about this behaviour.” Håvard added in a disapproving tone. Even though there was disapproval in his tone, Håvard’s feet dragged him to collect the supplies needed for the IV drip.
Olivier just moved in silence, sitting down on the chair in the small examination room, just like the times before.
“If I didn’t know any better Olivier, it would seem like you want to spend time with me.” Håvard chuckled. Moving towards Olivier, prepping for the IV drip.
“Don’t flatter yourself, Haugland, you have your followers for that.” Olivier quipped back in a joking manner.
“Wow, back to last name basis, I thought we moved past this. I’m hurt.” Håvard stated in a playful dramatic tone. With that Håvard levelled himself to Olivier by sitting on the wheely chair across from him.
“Arm out.” Håvard demanded while yanking Olivier’s arm towards him. As Håvard was examining which vein would be appropriate for the procedure, Olivier was gazing at the Norwegian across to him. Olivier noticed how the usually gelled spiky hair was more messy, there is more of a green tone in his blue eyes, a sign of lack of sleep. These slight changes in Håvard’s appearance got Olivier thinking about the Norwegian.
The clipping of the tourniquet, broke Olivier out of his thoughts. As Olivier snapped his head towards the direction of the noise, he noticed that Håvard was dampening a cotton bud with alcohol. As Håvard moved back towards him, Olivier quickly looked away.
The cool feeling upon Olivier’s left arm made him shutter.
“Anyways, you know the drill at this point, there will be a slight pinch. Once the IV is in place you will be here for 45 minutes. If you need anything during that time, just shout and I will be right with you.” The Norwegian stated in a professional tone, a tone which was much different to how Håvard greeted Olivier.
Olivier sat in silence and nodded in agreement. Before Olivier knew it, the IV drip was in his arm, and the platinum blonde that was just in front of him now moved to the desk in the corner.
The clicking noises from the computer keys echoed through the room, the room that was once filled with conversations between the two in prior visits. In comparison to those previous visits, the wait was unbearably slow. In order for Olivier to pass the time, he once again started to examine the other in the room.
The once obnoxious smirk that was usually plastered among the Norwegian face was gone, in its replacement was a deadpan look at the screen. The look of concentration and frustration settled into the older man’s face.
Before Olivier knew it, the wait time of 45 minutes was over. The beep on a timer interrupted both Håvard’s and Olivier’s thoughts. With the noise infiltrating the room of silence, Håvard moved to grab a flimsy cardboard box from his desk to his coat pocket. From what Olivier could work out from the wording on the box, the word was LØVE.
Once again, the Norwegian was at eye level with Olivier. Within moments the IV drip was removed from Olivier’s arm and Håvard was putting pressure on the spot. As Olivier looked up at Håvard, he saw the glimmer of fun was again in the other eyes.
“I know this is a bit silly, but I found these in Norway and I thought they suited you.” The Norwegian stated while once again grabbing the flimsy box. As Håvard reached inside the box, Olivier knew it was a plaster. The bright yellow plaster with the picture of a cartoon lion on it, decorated the Frenchman’s left arm.
The smile on Håvard’s face brightened up and it was obvious that he was pleased with himself and his little purchase.
“Well, if there are any questions you need to ask, now is the time, if not you are free to leave.” Håvard quickly stated.
“Thanks again Håvard, don’t worry this will be the last time I come here for unnecessary injuries, I promise.” The Frenchman replied to the man across from him. As Olivier got up from his chair and strided to the door, he noticed a slight drop in Håvard’s smile.
With that Olivier exited the medical bay once again with a smile, a pep in his step and a plaster. But this time a plaster which was something Håvard specifically selected for Olivier.
