Coffee & Whiskey

Summary:

“I’m so sorry!” The words that Taehyung hears are not spoken from his mouth, rather by the gorgeous alpha in front of him.
“I- I don’t-” As he stares into the man’s eyes, Taehyung tries to get out the words to apologize, any words at all, but his brain goes blank as the alpha bends down to grab his book from the floor. Taehyung catches a whiff of the alpha’s dark chocolate and whiskey scent and feels his mind go a little fuzzy.

Work Text:

Taehyung’s back is starting to ache as his eyes gloss over the pages of his textbook. He’s been studying for what feels like days in the crowded campus coffee shop, and Taehyung is sure that by now he smells only of the espresso he’s been downing all day. Finally looking up from his book to take a sip of his latte, he groans when he picks it up and finds that it’s empty. Taehyung begrudgingly gets up from the coffee booth that is too small for his long legs and shuffles towards the front of the shop with his textbook still in hand, continuing to read the current chapter as he walks.

“Taehyung, bestie, this is your fourth latte today, and it’s only 11:30 in the morning. You really should consider going home and taking a break.” Taehyung looks up from his book as the barista addresses him.

“I know, Jin, I know, but quantum mechanics is very intriguing, when you understand it,” Taehyung says, running his hand through his hair with a slight chuckle.

“Just make sure you have enough energy for when the semester actually starts.”

“Don’t doubt my stamina,” Taehyung scoffs as he grabs the piping hot cup of coffee from Jin, and turns to head back to his table, nose buried back in the textbook.

However, before Taehyung can make it back to his booth, he is torn from his book when his body collides with a wall. A very human feeling wall. A very human-smelling wall too. The omega does not have time to process that fact, because his book crashes to the floor at the same time as his coffee falls into the person that was unfortunate enough to be in his way.

Taehyung looks up immediately, ready to apologize endlessly for running into them when he is met with a stunning pair of brown eyes that seem to go on forever. He starts to get lost in them, drawn in by an invisible force.

“Oh, you’re reading about quantum mechanics? I’m kind of a physics nerd myself too.” Taehyung can only nod as the alpha tries (and fails) to wipe off the now ruined textbook.

“Let me buy you a new drink. I’m really sorry about this,” the alpha says genuinely, looking back up at the omega. Taehyung doesn’t have the confidence to meet his eyes again.

“No- no that’s alright,” Taehyung swears his whole face is red by now and is only able to shakily grab the book from the handsome man in front of him before dashing out of the coffee shop.

When Taehyung finally makes it back to his dorm room, he is exhausted mentally and physically, unable to stop thinking about the interaction that had just taken place, the man’s deep eyes and kind smile are the only things that he can think about.

“Why do you have to be so awkward,” Taehyung chastises himself. “Stupid, stupid omega.”

He tosses the ruined textbook on the bed and starts taking off his clothes to get into an outfit that doesn’t smell like coffee. The pages ruffle as the book lands in an awkward position, and Taehyung thinks he’s crazy when he smells dark chocolate and whiskey, but decides that he’s just confusing it with his coffee-stained pants.

It’s been a week since the awkward coffee shop scenario, and Taehyung can’t stop thinking about it even as he’s walking to his first class of the semester. The omega finds it impossible to get the memory of those dark brown eyes out of his head, but he forces himself to push it as far back into his mind as possible and focuses on finding his class instead.

He pushes through the large oak doors into the lecture hall and takes a seat near the front of the room, eager to dive into quantum mechanics. The lecture hall is mostly empty (Taehyung would rather be fifteen minutes early than a minute late), so he just opens up his coffee-stained textbook and flips to a random chapter to pass the time.

He’s not sure how long he’s been reading when he smells a beta sitting down beside him.

“Hey, I’m Jimin, computer science major by the way.”

Taehyung is taken aback by the beta’s forwardness and turns to see a lanky boy with a mischievous grin.

“If you’re a computer science major, then why are you in this class?”

“I have hobbies,” Jimin jokes, “What about you?”

“I mean, yeah, I have hobbies. This, video games, and stuff,” Taehyung rambles, picking up on the beta’s scent. It’s something faintly metallic, so faint that he must be mated.

Good, he’s looking for a friend, not flirting with me, Taehyung thinks, but before his mind can wander too far, he’s hit with an all too familiar scent.

Dark chocolate. Whiskey.

“Good morning class, my name is Jungkook Jeon, but you can call me Professor Jeon or just Professor. Welcome to Quantum Mechanics I. You guys all read the syllabus right?”

The professor’s question is met with a weak response from the class, and the alpha rolls his eyes and pulls up a slide, ready to go over it with them.

Taehyung cannot believe what he’s seeing. It’s him. The man that he ran into at the coffee shop. The alpha that he’d been fantasizing about every night for the past week. He’s here. And he’s his professor.

Why did I have to pick a seat so close to the front of the classroom? Taehyung groans to himself.

The professor is going over the late work policy when he makes eye contact with the omega. Taehyung’s full body flushes and he hides his face in his textbook in embarrassment.

The omega almost jumps when he hears whispering in his ear. “Buddy, what’s wrong? Did you forget to read the syllabus too?” Taehyung glances over to see Jimin looking at him.

“Oh n-no, I-” Taehyung's response gets stopped before it can even begin.

“If you’re already whispering to each other, you must have something so important that the whole class needs to hear it.” The alpha’s words are cold and his eyes that were once so warm and deep were now piercing through Taehyung’s soul.

“Sorry professor, I was just telling my dear friend….” the beta glances over to Taehyung, gesturing for his name.

“Taehyung” the omega squeaks.

“Exactly, I was telling Taehyung about chess strategies. Have you ever played 5D chess with multiverse time travel?”

“Yes, actually, as a matter of fact, I have. But I think there are better times to discuss chess than now, don’t you think?”

“Any time is a good time to discuss chess,” Jimin quips back, unphased by the professor’s obvious attempts to quiet the student.

“If any time is a good time to discuss chess, then I don’t suppose you’d mind having a chat with me after class. About chess, and other things,” the alpha ends the conversation and Jimin rolls his eyes.

On the other hand, Taehyung has shrunk as small as he could into the uncomfortable plastic chair that he’s sitting in, trying his best to avoid the dark eyes staring at him.

The class goes on, and Taehyung is unable to tell if he is frightened or turned on by the professor’s dominance. Every time Taehyung looks up from his notes, he swears the alpha is looking only at him, his gaze dark with an undertone that can only be taken as possessiveness.

Taehyung counts the seconds until the class ends, the single-hour lecture seeming to take an eternity. When the bell rings, Taehyung’s book bag is already packed and he jumps out of his seat.

“I’ll see you, next class,” Taehyung says to Jimin, slinging his bag over his shoulder. Before he can make his way towards the door, Jimin rests his hand on the omega’s arm.

“Hey, are you alright? You’re looking a little pale,” Jimin says with a genuine frown of concern.

“Yeah, yeah, I’m fine, I just have a thing… I gotta do. Good luck with the professor.” Taehyung gives Jimin a little half-wave goodbye before leaving the room as quickly as he can without sprinting, putting extra care into not making eye contact with the professor.

As soon as Taehyung gets into his dorm, he drops his bag on the floor and heads to the bathroom to start a cold shower. He needs to clear his mind of the events of the day.

Today was supposed to be easy. How has the first day of school gone this badly? Taehyung thinks as he strips off his jeans and polo and jumps into the ice-cold shower.

He shivers but welcomes the pain as a distraction from the dark chocolate scent that had filled his mind. He scrubs his skin vigorously as if he can also scrub his brain of the image of the professor’s piercing orbs.

He only gets out of the shower when his fingers have become shriveled and pruny. After towel drying his hair, he throws on a t-shirt and flops into bed, desperate for dreamless sleep.

The next day, Taehyung is doing everything in his power to avoid thinking about the professor. He goes to his European History and Economics classes and spends the rest of his free time studying in his dorm. It’s nearly dinner time when he hears a ding from his phone. He picks it up to see a text from his friend Jin.

hey bestie !!! u have been in ur room all day :(( would u like to come hang out in da library? Ive made some new friends

Taehyung ponders the idea of staying in his room for the rest of the night but decides that being surrounded by other people would be a better distraction than this current chapter about the French Revolution.

Sure. I will be there in a few minutes.

yayyyy !!! see u then :D

The omega packs his textbooks and his laptop just in case and heads over to the campus library. It is not the first time that he’s met up with Jin, so he knows exactly what table to find him at on the second floor.

Taehyung is surprised to see his friend sitting with Jimin, as well as another boy who he has not seen before.

“What’s up bestie!” Jin waves him over, his smile as bright as his pink hair.

Taehyung is comforted by his familiar scent of butterscotch and daisies and sits next to the fellow omega.

“Nothing much, just, yknow, studying and stuff.”

Jimin leans over the table to look at him. “What are you studying for? It’s only the first week of school,” the beta asks with a laugh.

Taehyung chuckles along but avoids his question. Instead, he turns to the boy sitting across from him. “Hey I’m Taehyung, what’s your name?”

The omega looks up from typing on his computer. “Oh, I’m Nick. Nice to meet you,” he says quickly before returning to his laptop. Taehyung’s eyebrows rise in surprise at the boy’s shyness, in contrast to the other two’s forwardness.

“So what are you majoring in?” Taehyung asks, wanting to get to know the boy a little better.

“Japanese,” Nick says shortly, without looking up. The omega seems very engrossed in whatever he is working on, so Taehyung leaves him be.

Pulling out his European History textbook, Taehyung opens it to the page he left off in his dorm. However, before he can get more than a few words in, the omega is interrupted by a tap on his shoulder.

“So… you have anything that you wanna tell us?” Jin asks, wiggling his eyebrows at Taehyung.

“Um, no?”

“Are you sureeee?” Jin pries with a mischievous smile stretched across his face.

Taehyung scoffs. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

“You smell different.”

That was definitely not what Taehyung thought he was going to say. “I- I what?” What did he mean? He barely left his dorm, much less interacted with new people.

“You smell different. Usually, you smell like the coffee shop I work at but today you smell almost like… nothing. I can barely even smell the cinnamon.”

“I really don’t know what you’re talking about,” Taehyung says, eyes blown wide open in total denial.

Jin glares at him for a few seconds before giving up with a shrug.

“Alright, if you say so.”

Taehyung goes back to his textbook, grateful that that conversation had ended, but he was too flustered to read. His eyes skip over the words on the page and he’s tapping his fingers on his legs. He quickly gives up on his textbook and decides to talk more, hoping to end the awkward silence that now hovered over the table.

“What did Professor Jeon have to say to you when you stayed after class yesterday?” Taehyung asks Jimin.

“Oh, he was actually a really chill dude. He just told me that he wanted to set a precedent for a well-behaved class,” Jimin said nonchalantly. That surprised Taehyung. He had assumed that with how the professor had acted during class that he was the mean, strict type. Before he could ponder it any further, Nick spoke up.

“Are you talking about Professor Jeon? He was my favorite professor last year. Like Jimin said, super chill dude.”

Huh. Taehyung thinks to himself and goes back to his book for the rest of the afternoon.

It’s been a long day. His College Physics class was not cooperating today, and he had multiple students beg him to take their late work even though they just started the year. It doesn’t help that the alpha had been feeling borderline sick all day. He runs his hand through his hair with a sigh as he makes his way to the staff lounge.

When the alpha enters the room, he sees Dr. Min and the student-teacher, Hoseok , having a friendly conversation. Jungkook gives them a quick wave and b-lines straight to the fridge to grab his lunch. After spending a minute and a half in front of the microwave, he sits himself down at the table with them.

“Hey Yoongi, hey Hoseok , how are you guys doing today?”

“We’re doing good. You don’t look so hot yourself though.”

Jungkook chuckles and stabs his fork into his sad leftovers.

“So, Hoseok , how did your lesson go today? I heard you led the lecture,” Jungkook asks, trying to divert the conversation away from himself.

“I think it went pretty good,” he says, smiling to himself. “The lecture went as smooth as it could go, but the students did seem a little disengaged.”

“Well, there will always be students who don’t want to engage in the lesson. I’m sure you did a good job,” Jungkook says genuinely.

“Thanks, I appreciate it.” Hoseok  gives the older man a smile, but before he can say anything else his phone dings, and the beta pulls it out of his pocket to check the notification.

“Oh, that’s my reminder for date night with Jimin!” he says, standing up from the table. “It was nice catching up with you, Dr. Min, Professor Jeon.”

“Have a good time, and make sure Jimin turns in all of his work,” Dr. Min jokes as Hoseok  puts on his jacket.

Hoseok  laughs and swiftly leaves the room with a quick wave.

Not even a second passes after the door closes when Dr. Min quickly turns to his fellow professor.

“You smell different today.”

Jungkook is taken aback by Dr. Min’s comment.

“Yoongi, I honestly have no clue what you are talking about.”

“I thought I smelled it when you walked into the room, but when you sat down I knew. You’ve found a mate.”

“No,” Jungkook says in disbelief, shaking his head. “No, that’s not possible, I haven’t been on a date in years, I haven’t met anyone. The only new people that I’ve come in contact with are....”

Oh.

For the past few weeks, Taehyung hasn’t been able to focus. He’s irritable, impatient, and anxious. The omega is used to not feeling the best before his heats, but he hasn’t felt this awful since he first started his birth control.

To make matters worse, Taehyung knows that he bombed that quiz in quantum mechanics. When he first started, he thought the topic would be fun and exciting, but lately, he’s been dreading going to class because of that bloody professor.

He is currently walking to the aforementioned class and attempting to listen to Jimin talking about computers or tennis or chess or whatever he’s been into lately, but Taehyung cannot for the life of him focus on what the beta is saying. Taehyung vaguely remembers meeting Jimin at the cafe as they always do before the class, and then suddenly they are in front of the large lecture hall doors. The two boys make their way to their normal seats when they enter the lecture hall, but something feels off.

It’s like his senses are on hyperdrive. The room feels warm, too warm, and it feels like he’s being bombarded with every person’s scent in the entire room.

Bloody bollocks

His heat is starting. Now. It wasn’t supposed to start for another couple of days and he’s kicking himself for not staying at home, but the lecture hall doors have already closed and that stupid, annoyingly hot (no Taehyung, no) professor has already started talking and all Taehyung can think about is the burning sensation crawling its way up his skin.

Taehyung is sweating and maybe he hears something about them getting their quizzes back when Jimin gives the omega a nudge.

“Hey, are you doing alright? You don’t look good.”

“Yeah, yeah, I’m fine,” Taehyung says dismissively, knowing that Jimin can very well smell what’s wrong.

“No, you’re really not fine. Dude, you should go home.”

Taehyung puts his head in his hands and almost breaks down crying right then and there.

“No, no, no, I’m not supposed to start my heat, not for a couple more days, I-” Taehyung takes a shuddering breath, “I just don’t know what to do.”

“Hey, hey, don’t worry, I can-” but before Jimin can finish his sentence he is interrupted by the professor.

“Taehyung Bana.”

Taehyung looks up from his hands with wide eyes, confused. The omega catches Professor Jeon’s eye and feels a burning sensation flash through his body again. He quickly looks away and back at Jimin for some explanation on why his name was called.

Jimin gestures towards the professor’s desk and that's when Taehyung puts two and two together that he’s supposed to go up there to grab his quiz.

“No, no, no, no, no,” the omega whispers, looking over at Jimin with pleading eyes. “I can’t go up there. I really-”

“Is there a problem?” The professor’s words cut through the air, and the sound of the alpha makes Taehyung squeeze his eyes shut in embarrassment.

“Well actually, Taehyung is… uh…” Jimin eyes over at Taehyung, unsure of what to say.

“Don’t tell him,” Taehyung whispers desperately. “Please, please don’t tell him.”

“He’s…. um… he’s injured. Yeah, he’s injured. I stepped on his foot, ya know… cause he has such big feet and I just, ya know, crunch, oops, like best friends do… ya know,” Jimin says, obviously off the top of his head.

You can shut up now, you can shut up now, Taehyung thinks, sinking impossibly further down into his chair.

Professor Jeon eyes Jimin for his incredulous story but eventually sighs.

“Well, I don’t want to waste any more time by having Taehyung hobble up to my desk with an injured foot.”

When he hears that, Taehyung lets out a breath he didn’t know he’d been holding, but before the omega could feel relief for too long, the professor says something much worse.

“Why don’t you stay after class today instead.”

Taehyung feels the blood drain from his face.

No, no, no, no, no, no, is all he can think, but before he can protest, the professor quickly moves on to call more names.

The rest of the lecture passes in a blur as the omega’s insides melt into a pool of anxiety. His mind can’t decide whether to focus on the impending doom of class ending or the blazing heat that’s coursing through his body and the cramps in his stomach.

When the class eventually ends, he’s actually considering just straight up not listening to the professor and booking it out of the room, but before he can leave, he feels Jimin rest his hand on his shoulder.

“Hey, dude, I can see you’re working yourself up. Don’t. You’ll be fine. Text me when you get back to your dorm and then afterwards I can buy you ice cream or whatever you omegas do during your heats.”

Taehyung almost chuckles at Jimin’s blatant misunderstanding of heats but appreciates the sentiment. He gives Jimin a weak smile before the taller boy leaves the room.

The omega hastily smothers scent-suppressing lotion all over himself and waits until the last person has left before awkwardly walking up to the professor’s desk. He’s not even halfway there when the alpha’s smell increases exponentially. The omega is hit with a wall of dark chocolate and whiskey and almost stumbles a little bit, his heat-muddled brain soaking in his proximity to an alpha.

When Taehyung reaches the desk, he fiddles with his hands nervously, consciously trying not to drown in the professor’s divine, intoxicating scent.

“Is your foot doing alright?” Professor Jeon asks without looking up from his laptop.

“Uhuh,” Taehyung mumbles, having completely forgotten about Jimin’s stupid lie that seemed like an eternity ago.

“Take a seat,” the professor says, absentmindedly gesturing towards the wooden chairs in front of his desk. “I just have to finish sending an email to Dr. Min and then we can have a discussion. Oh, and here’s your quiz too.”

The alpha slides the omega’s paper quiz across his desk as the omega settles himself down into the wooden chair that is only slightly more comfortable than the plastic chairs that the students sat in. He looks down at his quiz.

  1.

Taehyung can’t help but smile at himself a little bit, but then his brain quickly goes into panic mode.

Why did he call me up here if I got a good score? Did he think I cheated? Is this actually not my quiz? What’s wrong?

Taehyung is busy losing himself in his worry when he hears the professor close his laptop. Taehyung jumps at the sudden sound but tries his best to hide it.

“So, I have something that I want to talk to you about. Do you have any idea what it is?”

When Taehyung looks up, he doesn’t see the professor, but rather the kind eyes of the handsome stranger that he’d run into in the coffee shop a lifetime ago. He quickly looks away from those piercing orbs.

“I mean… you just gave me back my quiz-”

“It doesn’t have anything to do with your quiz.”

Taehyung blushes as his heat-riddled brain cycles through everything Jungkook could mean with that statement.

“I- I don’t- what?”

“Taehyung,” Jungkook reaches his calloused hand across the table and gently places it on Taehyung’s, causing the omega to shudder slightly, “we’re soulmates.”

At that moment, everything crashes into place. Jin’ weird behavior, the intensity of his heat, the invisible force between him and his professor. It’s all too much.

Jungkook is right.

Taehyung jumps up from his chair, jerking his hand away from the alpha. His body is burning the most it has all day, and even though the professor is no longer physically touching him, his hand can still feel the sensation lingering.

“I- no, this can’t-” but before he can say anything more, the edges of his vision go blurry and the omega can tell that he’s about to faint.

When Taehyung comes back to consciousness, he feels as if the side effects of his heat have been numbed. His body no longer aches and his skin no longer itches and burns, almost as if he’s being wrapped in the cool arms of an alpha.

Wait.

Taehyung snaps his eyes open and sees that’s exactly where he is. He entirely forgets the cold facade of the strict professor and instead sees only a soothing, protective alpha who is currently inches away from Taehyung’s face. Taehyung can feel Jungkook’s hand on the back of his head holding them dangerously close, and the omega watches Jungkook’s eyes pierce through his before darting down towards his lips.

Taehyung almost closes the distance between them when he feels another wave of heat burn through his body again. He lets out a small groan and can see worry grow in the alpha’s soft eyes.

“Are you in heat?”

Taehyung can only whimper, but that’s all Jungkook needs.

“I have to get you out of here,” the alpha says urgently, rubbing his thumb across the soft skin behind Taehyung’s ear. “Let me take you to my place.”

The omega leans into Jungkook’s touch, but the logical side of his brain still tries to fight against it.

“I- I can’t. I have to get back to my-” the professor shushes Taehyung before he can finish his sentence.

“Please, just let me take care of you.”

Too weak to refuse, Taehyung just nods as yet another wave of heat flashes through him. He feels Jungkook scoop him up in his arms and start carrying him towards the door.

Though it feels wrong, the omega can’t help but nuzzle his face into the alpha’s strong chest.

Jungkook barely takes the time to grab his bag and turn off the lights in his classroom as he pushes open the large doors with Taehyung in his arms.

Everything inside of him is going haywire. From finally finding his soulmate to not even being able to think about it because he’s already in heat, all Jungkook can think about is getting his omega to safety.

His omega.

He’s not yours yet, Jungkook thinks to himself. It’s still his decision. But part of Jungkook knows that he won’t be able to let go of this precious omega even if he wanted to.

Miraculously, he is able to avoid running into anyone he knows while rushing to his car, and gently places his omega in the passenger seat. Taehyung whimpers again as Jungkook sets him down, and it takes everything in the alpha to pull his arms away.

“You’re gonna be alright, baby,” Jungkook whispers, giving Taehyung a longing look. He eventually settles for kissing him on the forehead instead of on his succulent lips.

As Jungkook walks around to the driver's side, he sees Taehyung attempt to snuggle up in the extra clothes that he keeps in his passenger seat. Even after he has sat down in the driver's seat, the alpha can’t stop glancing over at his soulmate to make sure he’s still alright.

Within seconds Jungkook is flying 80 mph down the freeway, but all he can think about is the vulnerable omega beside him, and how delectable he smells right now.

The drive from the school to his house can’t go fast enough, but after twenty minutes the alpha is finally pulling into his driveway. Jungkook carries his soulmate from the car to the front door as quickly as he can and can’t help but let out a growl as he fumbles with his keys to get inside.

Just a little longer. Just a little longer, his mind races.

If Jungkook thought he had been used to having his omega in his arms, he was proven wrong when Taehyung curled into his chest even more upon entering the house.

“I’m going to have to set you down now, okay my love?”

Taehyung shakes his head and pouts.

“No,” he whines, clinging onto Jungkook with any strength he has left.

“I have to get you comfier clothes, baby boy,” Jungkook says, giving him a soft kiss on the cheek.

“No, take me with you.”

Jungkook sighs and turns towards his bedroom, unable to refuse his sweet omega.

“Okay baby, I’m gonna set you down on my bed now and get you some pajamas. I’m only gonna be gone for a minute, so why don’t you be a good boy and get out of these clothes for me, hmm?” He gives the omega a couple of kisses for good measure and then sets him down on the pile of blankets in the middle of his bed.

The alpha rummages through his drawers for the softest t-shirt and shorts he can find.

Only the best for my omega, he thinks as he decides on a light blue shirt that he usually sleeps in.

When he turns around to give them to Taehyung, his eyes lay on the most beautiful boy he’s ever seen. His cream-white skin, messy brown hair, and plump lips are the image of perfection. Jungkook can’t wait to ruin it.

Now is not the time, he scolds himself and takes a mental picture of Taehyung before walking closer.

“You look so beautiful for me baby,” the alpha whispers, placing a hand on the omega’s soft cheek. “Let me help you get dressed.”

The omega only nods, so Jungkook guides him into his clothes, letting his hands linger on Taehyung’s dips and curves.

Finished with dressing his omega, Jungkook lifts him up to set him under the covers.

“You need to rest now,” Jungkook whispers, tucking Taehyung in, “Get some sleep.”

He gives him a final kiss on the forehead, and tears himself away from the omega, knowing that he shouldn’t stay while Taehyung is still this vulnerable.

“Stay.”

Jungkook can barely make out what Taehyung says from his place under all of the blankets, but he does.

“Darling, I really should-”

“Please,” the omega begs, “please don’t go.”

Though Jungkook’s brain says no, his heart says yes, and he finds himself walking back to the bed. The omega reaches his arms out as if to get him there any faster, and the alpha happily slides into his omega's arms.

He can feel Taehyung purr as their bodies mold into one another's, and he can’t help but smile.

“Get some rest now, puppy.”

2 months later

“That one kinda looks like an elephant wearing a top hat,” Jungkook points his finger up at the clouds, making Taehyung giggle.

“Nooooo, I think it looks more like a dinosaur,” Taehyung argues playfully. The two lovers lay on a picnic blanket in a quiet park watching the clouds drift by. Jungkook’s arm is wrapped around Taehyung’s torso while he rests his head on his chest.

“Well, I think you’re looking at the clouds wrong,” Jungkook teases.

“Fine. Then, I’ll stop looking.” Taehyung gives a dramatic pout and shuts his eyes, not actually upset but just wanting to mess with his alpha.

Taehyung can’t believe how much his life had changed over the past two months. Of course their relationship was awkward at first. He had to explain it to his friends and switch to a new class, but the inconveniences paled in comparison to the change that Jungkook brought to his life. Taehyung fell in love.

He fell in love with the way Jungkook’s eyes lit up when he laughed, the way he would hold him in his arms after a long day, the way he would kiss him so softly and gently like he was the most precious thing in the world.

“Don’t pout at me like that baby.” Jungkook sits up and runs his fingers through Taehyung’s hair, giving his head little scratches how he knows Taehyung likes it. When Taehyung’s eyes flutter open, he’s greeted by Jungkook’s cute smile.

Taehyung’s heart warms at the sight of his soulmate and he can’t help but bring Jungkook’s hand up to his lips so he can kiss his knuckles.

They sit there together, not saying anything but just enjoying the moment together. There’s a slight breeze today, not enough to make the air chilly, but enough to ruffle Jungkook’s hair, making it look soft and angelic. Not to mention the way the sunlight falls across Jungkook’s face, illuminating his cheeks and his lips, and everything about him is just so perfect.

“What are you thinking about?”

Taehyung blinks, not realizing how he got lost in thought.

“You,” he says quietly. Just for Jungkook to hear, just for their moment.

“That’s funny cause I was actually thinking about you too,” Jungkook says, scrunching his nose at how cheesy he sounds.

“Oh really?” Taehyung sits up and rests his palms on Jungkook’s cheeks, holding him close. “Wanna tell me about it?”

Jungkook lets out an airy laugh, leaving a peck on Taehyung’s nose. “Of course, baby. I was just thinking about how pretty you are when you smile and how cute you are when you ask to cuddle and how perfect you are every single day and how much I love you.”

Taehyung feels the blush creeping onto his cheeks as Jungkook talks and he hides his face behind his hands.

“I love you, Taehyung,” Jungkook gently takes Taehyung’s hands and pulls them away from his face, “so very much, more than anything in the whole world.”

A smile blooms across Taehyung’s face, happiness absolutely pouring out of him, and he wraps his arms around Jungkook to pull him close. “I love you too Jungkook. You’re my everything, and I’m so happy you’re mine.”

He doesn’t know who leans forward first, but when their lips meet everything around them melts away. Jungkook’s hands move to his waist, pulling him closer, and Taehyung tangles his hands in his hair. Taehyung lets himself get lost in the moment as Jungkook’s lips move against his. Everything is him and Jungkook. Everything is magical. Everything is perfect.
