"Mama?” Emerald looked over at Jade, the two of them sitting upon a tall hill. “Why’s there two moons, if the old Earth only had one?”
“Well,” Jade glanced down at her daughter. For once, the little girl had taken off those sunglasses her father had given her. “I put them there, when we were making the planet. I thought it’d look nice! The old moon was already pretty, so why not have two?”
“Ohhhh…” Emerald nodded. “They are really pretty, woof!” She grinned. She leaned on Jade. Jade smiles back at her. “Woof, Did you put all the stars there, too?”
“I guess, in a way!” She nods. “I bred the frogs, which made the universe, which put all the stars everywhere… So basically, yeah.”
Emerald didn’t really get it. She didn’t need to, though. She understood that her mom was the coolest person ever. She hugged Jade. Jade hugged her back.
The night carried on like this, with Emerald asking questions and Jade answering them. Jade pointed out constellations, and Emerald simply looked on with amazement at it all. It was so vast and beautiful…eventually, though, Emerald started to get tired. Jade patted the sleepy girl on the head.
“Time for bed?” Jade asked. Emerald nodded sleepily. With that, Jade warped them home.
A moment later, a portal opened again, and Emerald grabbed her sunglasses. She then scurried into her bed.
“Good night, Emerald!” Jade spoke as she smiled at her through the door.
“G’night, Mama!”
