Work Text:
Taehyung enjoys playing cupid. He loves love, especially when it involves his best friends who are absolute idiots. He has to admit, though, they make one hell of a pining pair; the obvious and the oblivious. Thus, he has to do everything within his power to knock some sense into the oblivious one. This is what has him standing before Jimin with a power point presentation and a pair of handcuffs.
“I’m telling you, babe. We should just handcuff them together for a whole day. That’s bound to do something about them.”
“And I keep telling you, that’s not going to work!” Jimin heaves a sigh. “How many times has Jungkook straight up confessed his undying love for Namjoonie hyung and still failed miserably?”
Twelve times. Twelve fucking times. Taehyung has a binder for it. It’s complete with pictures, audio records, flaws, corrections- literally everything.
“We should just let them go with the flow. Maybe Joonie hyung could realise he’s being an idiot and confess to Jungkook. At least he knows about his feelings.”
“Jimin-ah, they’ve been going with the flow for the past six months and you know where they are now.”
Fair. Jimin heaves a sigh as The Obvious walks inside the living room of their shared apartment.
“Does this look good or should I change into the yellow shirt?”
“Baby blue suits you, too.” Jimin nods at Taehyung’s comment. “Also, it’s not like you have to try a lot anyway. Namjoon hyung already loves you.”
Jungkook turns an alarming shade of red and sprints out of the house with mumbled curses. He’s having a study session with the love of his life. He has a Joonie hyung to woo. Our Jungkook is a man on a mission, guys.

“Do you understand why this was such a daring piece of art, now?” Namjoon asks softly. His eyes are encouraging him in such a warm way; like he’d take any answer from Jungkook and teach the same thing a hundred times more if he has to. God, why does everything about Namjoon have to be so beautiful and lovely? Why does he have to be so perfect and make Jungkook’s life miserable? Can’t they be boyfriends already?
“Yes, hyung.” Jungkook nods. “I get it. Now can we please eat something? I’m starving!”
“Sure thing, Kook.” Namjoon rises from the couch with a chuckle as Jungkook follows the taller man to the kitchen.
“Seokjin hyung, Yoongi hyung and Hobi dropped some Kimchi yesterday. Do you think we can use it?”
“Oh we can use loads of those! Do you have any baek-kimchi, hyung?”
In no time Jungkook sets up a warm meal with little help from Namjoon and they’re seated by the tiny dining table in his open kitchen. It’s all going the usual way until something miraculous happens.
Jungkook munches on the meat while reaching for the perilla leaves. He spends a good three minutes on it before Namjoon chuckles and brings his own pair of chopsticks near it. The brunet snaps his head up, eyes wide open as his hyung helps him peel the leaf.
“There you go.” Namjoon says with a fond shake of his head like he didn’t just flip Jungkook’s world off its axis.
That was a historical moment! The stars have aligned, the skies have spoken, the oceans have blessed them and Namjoon helped Jungkook peel the perilla leaf. They’re gonna get married!
*
“I want to have a white-themed wedding, hyung.” Jungkook says dreamily. “A tiny Marvel themed bachelor party with you guys would be nice.”
“Will do.” Taehyung nods sagely as he types away whatever horseshit their youngest is speaking. “What colour palette do you want for your best men?”
“Blue. Namjoonie hyung likes that colour.”
“Fantastic. I believe the wedding will be in spring next year?”
Yeah, Jimin has to stop them now. It’s just gonna keep getting worse. He shouldn’t have let it all start in the first place. Is it not obvious how much of a bad idea it is to put a relentless Taehyung and a love-drunk Jungkook together?
“I need you to stop whatever nonsense this is before I set you guys on fire.” Jimin snatches the laptop away as his boyfriend whines in distress. The blond places it on the tea table and joins his idiots on the couch of their living room. “Now, Jungkook, I need you to clearly state whatever went down between you and Namjoon hyung.”
“We’re getting married, hyung!”
“Jungkook.”
“It’s destiny!”
“Jeon Jungkook.”
“Fine!” The brunet pouts, back to earth. “Joonie hyung and I were having lunch and he helped me peel the perilla leaf. We’re gonna get married this spring.”
Jimin smacks Jungkook in the head.
“I’ve been with you since you were three, witnessing every foolish thing you’ve done and I must admit this one takes the cake.”
“Hyung!”
“Shut up!” Jimin rubs his temples. “Take him out on a date first, you dumbass!”
“He’s right.” Taehyung offers. “Nice romantic dates for your remaining days as boyfriends.”
Jimin smacks his boyfriend in the head.
“What?! They’re gonna get married one day!”
“Let them date first!”
“Okay, dude! Chill!”
“You know what?! You’re sleeping on the couch tonight!”
“What-no! You can’t be serious! Jimin-ah! Baby!”
Jungkook watches as Taehyung sprints behind a stomping Jimin. The red haired man quickly slips inside their room before Jimin can shut it close.
It’s gonna be a long day for his Taehyungie hyung.
For him too, now that he actually thinks about it. He’s gonna take his Namjoonie hyung on the best date possible.

Jungkook tries to take deep breaths to calm himself. It’s just Namjoon and him meeting at their favourite cafe discussing what has already been written in the stars. What could go wrong?
As Jungkook watches Namjoon explain the legacy of Yun Hyeong Keun, he realises that a lot of things can go wrong.
Apparently, Namjoon assumed that when Jungkook told him they had to meet and have an important discussion, he meant it was about horrifying progress in his art history course. Thus, the taller man started with a motivational speech and is now trying to simplify the syllabus content even more. His brows are furrowed in determination and his chocolate pastry remains untouched.
It’s bad.
“Hyung.” Jungkook finally interrupts. “I got my midterm scores. I scored 91 out of hundred. I’m doing fine. I think I got a hang of it.”
At this Namjoon pauses, allowing those words to sink in. “Oh.”
As realisation dawns on his hyung, Jungkook desperately hopes they can just get over it. He can’t afford anymore distractions.
The universe, however, has different plans today.
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry, Jungkook-ah! I should’ve known this was a celebration party! You’re even drinking a venti java choco chip frappe!”
To Namjoon’s absolute delight and Jungkook’s growing horror, the hyung decides to spend their whole day together as a celebration for the brunet’s efforts yielding sweet fruits. He demands Jungkook to clear his schedule and speak of nothing else. They’re gonna have loads of fun today.
Jungkook wants to cry.
*
“Hyung, I got this!” Jungkook pouts at the punching bag. He loosens his hands as Namjoon massages his shoulders.
It turns out that Namjoon’s idea of a fun-filled day is to win every game at the arcade and try every sort of food available by the street. Jungkook loves the plan.
“Step back a little, hyung. This is gonna take a lot of strength.” Namjoon complies with a nod.
Jungkook fists his hand and punches the bag with all the strength he can muster. The screen blinks for a couple seconds before flashing the new high score as they scream with joy and jump into each other’s arms.
“We won, hyung!” Jungkook squeals.
“Of course, we did!”
“Next game?”
“Hell yeah!”
Some time after their twenty-first win, Namjoon finally pauses and stares as Jungkook dances to the commands of the game machine. There’s a pout on lips, brows furrowed in concentration. His entire world seems to have narrowed down to a single game and that’s just so adorable to him. It’s such a simple thing but Jungkook still lights up like he won the world when he sees “victory” pop up on the screen. He is glowing.
“Another win, hyung!” Jungkook laughs and tackles his hyung in a hug. “We’re winning everything today!”
Namjoon heaves a sigh, wrapping his hands around his tiny waist. His eyes come to a gentle close as he revels in their little private moment. Like all other times, he goes slack under Jungkook. It’s not the celebration hug the younger man had expected, Namjoon is aware of how surprised he is. Nonetheless, Jungkook tightens the hug and nuzzles into his hyung’s neck.
“Everything alright, hyung?”
“Everything’s good, better.” Namjoon hums. “More than better; the best.”
He welcomes the gentle press of lips on his neck and smiles against the younger man’s soft, brown hair. And he just knows that Jungkook gets it; he feels it all the same.
*
After a hearty meal consisting of street food, they decide to call it a night with a walk along the Han river and some ice-cream. Jungkook blushes every time their hands brush against each other, making no move to cross the lines. He thinks he hears Jimin yell at him from somewhere inside his head.
All thoughts rush out of his head when Namjoon ends the misery for both of them and takes Jungkook’s hand in his.
“We should do this more often.” He smiles at their intertwined fingers. “A couple changes here and there are needed though.”
“What sort of changes, hyung?” Jungkook chuckles. “Didn’t quite like the day?”
“Oh no, I absolutely loved it. That’s not the issue.” Namjoon pauses his steps, bringing Jungkook to a stop as well. He brushes his lips against the brunet’s knuckles.
Jungkook stares with teary eyes as his hyung brings them closer. His lips part in a gasp as a hand sneaks around his waist.
“I don’t want you to hesitate before holding my hand, Jungkook-ah.” Namjoon whispers, pressing his forehead against Jungkook’s. “It’s about time, don’t you think?”
Jungkook nods as he finally gives in to his tears. Namjoon coos and tries in vain to wipe them away. “Just kiss me, hyung.”
And Namjoon does. His lips are soft, almost silken and pillowy. Jungkook could still taste the sweet from his ice-cream. He feels a smile bloom on their faces until they’re giggling too hard.
“Oh my god, I can’t believe it took so long for me to do this.” Namjoon bumps their noses together.
“Damn right.” Jungkook nods. “It’s all your fault. We could have been boyfriends sooner!”
Namjoon just laughs before brushing his lips against his boyfriend’s forehead. He can’t seem to stop then. He litters kisses all over Jungkook’s face. The said boyfriend laughs and pulls Namjoon into another kiss.
“I think I’m in love with you, hyung.” Jungkook murmurs. “I love you a lot.”
Namjoon smiles and cups his boyfriend’s face. “I’m in love with you, too, baby. I love you a lot, too.”

When they do have a white-themed wedding, Taehyung smiles smugly at his husband, who is dressed in a matching light blue suit.
“I told you so!” He cries in delight. “I told you this was gonna happen, babe!”
And Jimin just chuckles with a fond shake of his head. He knew all along, too.
Namjoon and Jungkook have always belonged together, after all.
