Work Text:

He was surrounded. Spurned on by the swing of his blade, Siegbert had forged ahead- too far ahead. Now, there were Faceless closing in on every side. As he had made his surge forward, the crown prince had become careless, over extending the use of his wrist, resulting in the blade flying out of his hands. Alone and defenseless, Siegbert only had his war stallion to keep him moving.

“Raaaaaaaaaagh-!” One of the monsters growled, its size hulking. Comparatively, it eclipsed it’s fellow monstrosities, the Faceless beginning to trudge in closer. The alpha in this ‘pack’ it seemed.

At its nearing proximity, Siegbert’s mount bucked, the unexpected motion leaving the prince scrambling as he was flipped off the saddle. Before he could calm the horse, the equine immediately fled, just narrowly making the closing gap between the rising horde.

Damn it! Siegbert cursed. So much for a trusted steed.

The leader of the Faceless took this opportunity to strike, the beast moving in with surprisingly quick motion. As it primed to hail its fist down on Siegbert’s head, the prince reacted on instinct.

While it wasn’t normal for a crown prince to learn hand to hand combat, not to mention throwing punches, Queen Charlotte was insistent her boy learn how to give a nasty right hook.

So he did.

The giant fist of the Faceless rained overhead, Seigbert dodging by rolling to the side. As his feet landed, he forced himself upright, taking a split second to take in a breath before doing the most reckless thing he’d ever done.

Running head-first towards the monster, Siegbert let out a yell- something his mother also taught him. A release of anger, of sorts.

The Faceless was recoiling, adjusting its weight for the next throw. But it wasn’t as fast as the crown prince.

“I’M GONNA TEAR YOU IN HALF!”

Using his momentum, Siegbert angled his fist, sending it slamming into the Faceless’ jaw. The impact caused the beast’s head to strike violently upwards, a sickening crack following in its wake.

It teetered for a moment, then suddenly, its legs gave out. Some eight hundred tons of a darkness-born colossus slumped over, its impressive weight sending a shock through the ground.

For a moment, Siegbert was stunned still- even some of the Faceless had stopped their march. Even without coherent thought, the events in front of them had stunned them momentarily.

Oh gods- that worked!?!

Managing to thrust away his nerves- least for now- Siegbert turned on his heel, ready to finish the swarm. Five, six Faceless had made up the remaining pack. And one after the other, the prince put them down, every swing sending the Faceless reeling.

Three, two, one. And soon, it was just Seigbert, standing amongst the bodies of the monsters he’d thrown down with.

Sucking in some breaths, he forced himself to relax. Suddenly, a familiar whinny caught his attention.

“There you are-!” He cried, relief and annoyance covering his features- his stallion had returned.

It trotted up to its master, nickering into Siegbert’s palm as the prince stroked its nose.

“Ah, never do that again, please…” Siegbert breathed out, placing his foot in the stirrup. Jumping up, he mounted his horse, steering it back towards the direction from where’d they trailed from the group.

As his stallion entered a canter, a thought passed his mind.

That… was kinda fun.

Maybe he’d found a new hobby.

Notes:

I'm total trash for Ryoma/Azura, but I love me some good Xander/Charlotte as well. I love imagining Siegbert as his sweet self, but totally being able to deck huge monsters without missing a beat. Charlotte is proud.

Also, I'm looking at you, RDR2 horses. I love them to death, but whenever I need them the most, they like to make a habit of running for the hills.
