“I really hope she likes this..” he thought as he walked, tightly clutching an envelope in his hand, containing a love letter.
He had spent an entire afternoon writing it, carefully penning each word. It was for his crush Lilac, one of the most popular girls at the school. It was hard not to fall for her. She was so charming, friendly with anyone she met, not to mention cute. Always perfectly put together and always making him blush whenever she passed by. He never knew what to do whenever she was around, only being able to stumble out an awkward “Hi lilac ..” before leaving in embarrassment.
“ She probably thinks i'm a loser, just too polite to point it out.” He stopped himself from getting stuck in his thoughts again and continued on his way. It was the end of the day, so he was heading to her locker to give the letter to her, since he knew she had a few minutes before she went to practice, always heading to her locker beforehand. The perfect time to give her the letter.
He peeked over the turn of the hall to see if she was already there. She seemed to be almost done packing up her stuff. “ I hope she likes it.” He took a breath and walked over to her. He gently tapped her shoulder to get her attention.
“Huh, who’s-Oh, hi Kai!'' She said as she turned around to greet him. “Hi Lilac, um I have prepared something for you.” Handing her the letter. “Oh! For me? How sweet!” she carefully unseals it,wary of keeping the wax seal intact.
Once opened, it reveals a letter covered in calligraphy done in pink and gold ink. Her eyes widened a bit at how fancy it all looked. Kai awkwardly stared at his feet, waiting in anticipation for her to finish reading it. “If she rejects me, I hope it's quick.”
After a few moments he finally looks up to see her reaction. She’s clutching at the letter, a blush obvious on her face.

“Do,do you like it-“
“I LOVE IT!!”
“you do?!” he stumbled back in surprise. “Mhm!, I've been having a crush on you too! I just thought yah didn’t like me.”
“why would you think i didn’t like you??” shocked that he would ever seem like he obviously wasn’t head over heels. “Well, whenever I’d try to greet you, you’d always just mutter a “hi” and try to walk away, so I thought maybe yah didn’t like being around me..” she said feeling embarrassed.
“I was just like that cus I’d end up not knowing what to say around you, so I’d walk off not wanting to embarrass myself.”
“But I’d love to be around you more! He blurted out. “you’re so charming and nice, and great at stuff!” At this point he was blushing alongside lilac, happy his crush likes him back. “I’d like that as well!” She responded.
“I gotta head to the gym for practice right now but I can give you my number!” Quickly storing the letter back up into her pocket as she said so. “I’ll give mine as well then.” They both exchanged phones, Kai slightly shaking as he did. Handing the phone back to him, she said “I’ll text you as soon as I can!” He nodded at her, “ok” She waved him goodbye as she walked off.
Kai waved back then just stood there for a while, processing what happened.
