hope dies (last)
They say love is written in the stars. And that somewhere in the world your soulmate exists.
They also say that according to Greek mythology, humans were originally created with four arms, four legs and a head with two faces. Fearing their power, Zeus split them into two separate parts, condemning them to spend their lives in search of their other halves.
Bella always hoped that her other half was somewhere nearby.
All her life was being the weirdest of the sisters, the craziest and most unpredictable. She was the one who experimented with spells, potions and wore strange outfits.
She had never cared for conventions, and she had naively felt sorry for Cissie's life with Lucius. Andromeda in her eyes was the bravest, after all, she decided to live as she wanted, marrying muggle-born Ted.
Bella knew that her marriage would be, like Narcissa's, a kind of Black investment. Her fate had been sealed since she was born - she was to marry Rodolphus.
And on her wedding day, when she was only nineteen and standing by the window, she heard footsteps.
Sirius entered the room and stood right behind her, "Feeling nervous?" He said softly and she shook her head.
She was calm - after all, the delusion that her soul mate was close disappeared.
"No." She answered confidently, and Sirius sighed. His cousins didn't have an easy path - their lives were pre planned by their blood status.
Purebloods must protect the purity of their blood at all costs.
And that was the result of these actions - both Bella and Cissa gave their lives to fulfill their duty.
"You look beautiful, Bella." She turned to him and looked into his eyes,
"I don't think I'm destined for a happy ending, Sirius." Her words were bitter, and he raised an eyebrow in response.
They fell silent and Sirius headed for the exit, but stopped halfway. He tilted his head and unexpectedly ran out of the room. Bella rolled her eyes and walked over to her wedding dress. She stroked it and sighed - sometimes we couldn’t control our fate.
Footsteps echoed through the room again and she looked away - her eyes fell on the most beautiful man she had ever seen.
She took her breath away and felt like she was out of oxygen. Sirius followed right behind him and, unsure of what to do next, Bella didn't decide to speak.
"Bella, this is my best friend, I thought you should get to know each other."
Bella walked over to him and offered him her hand. Suddenly she felt naked as their fingers touched. The spark was so strong and unexpected that she groaned. The stranger shivered and gripped her fingers even tightly.
“Tom, this is my cousin Bella.” Sirius's voice was distant - both of them focused only on each other.
And then Bella realised that her soul mate was right next to her. And that she didn’t have to get married today.
“Hello, Bella. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” His voice was deep and bite into her bones.
“Hi, Tom.” Her voice was weak and she swallowed.
Sirius smirked and left the room leaving them alone. He did his job, at least he tried.
