Waiting To Feel The Wind

Summary:

After a long week, Jen really just wants the opportunity to get out and away from work. What better way to do that than with an old friend that likes to fly in the wind? Katy is from the expected day to day life, and is everything she craves.

Notes:

Honestly I have no idea what I did here, I was just rolling with the ship given to me by Blizzard_Fire. Kept it T rated for everyone, and again I'm granted with the honors of being the first to write a ship <3 considering I write a lot of AU's and occasionally canon divergences....I can't say I have any idea where the hell this landed. Comics? Show? -shrugs- It's just a drabble to get a feel for the characters with me using Femslash February as an excuse to explore it.

Hope someone will enjoy whatever this is anyways :)

Work Text:

Saying the week had been long would be an understatement. A drastic understatement. Jennifer was beyond happy for it to be the weekend where she didn’t have to go into the office. Not that she needed to go into the office to have to work. Paperwork always spilled over into her off time. Still she needed a night out. Without it she was bound to go insane.

Music thrumming, colored lights constantly moving, Jennifer was happy that most people were paying her no mind. She liked staying as the She-Hulk even though she could change back. It just made her feel more comfortable, even if she wasn’t sure why. Most of the time it drew attention, but apparently not while everyone was drunk was off their asses.

Sipping her tonic she thought about how that sounded. Shouldn’t drunks be more interested in her? Even if they couldn’t see her green skin in the muted light that changed throughout the room, wouldn’t they be intrigued by the obvious height difference? Height wasn’t something anything like clothing could ever hide. Thankfully she didn’t try to hide her skin. She didn’t want to think about how much fabric that would take.

Happy in her jean shorts and black open shoulder blouse, Jennifer smiled when someone slid into the seat next to her. She’d been waiting, hoping Katy would show. It hadn’t been any form of a guarantee she’d show because it was impossible to predict the woman’s behavior. The woman was reckless, living life like the wind just going wherever it took her. Something that only allowed them to see each other at random. Thankfully her old friend often was around the California area.

“You look like you’re having fun,” Katy commented.

Jennifer finally looked at her. Katy was wearing a smirk and a classic black dress probably meant to help her blend in. Unlike her, her dark hair was done up in a bun. She looked forward to taking it down later if they left together. Actually it was more like when.

“Loads,” she answered with a shrug. “Beats paperwork, even if I barely manage to find a buzz.”

Katy snorted and grinned widely. Something Jennifer loved about the woman was just how much fun she was. Fun in every sense of the word. It didn't matter what they did, it always came back to that word. She needed more of that in her life, even now.

“Aw, don't sound so sad,” Katy said with a frown, her dark eyes sparkling when a light passed over them. “You know I can fix that.”

“You can’t fix that,” Jennifer pointed out, downing the rest of her cup all at once and debating if she wanted to bother ordering another.

One of the few things she lost was the ability to get properly drunk. She didn’t really mind, but after a long week she was guilty of missing it. Bruce stuck to tea and mediation. Needless to say it wasn’t really her thing, even when she tried to pretend it worked.

“Fix having a good time genius,” Katy corrected, rolling her eyes. “I made sure to bring a convertible and figured we’d take a drive down the coast before finding a nice spot to hang out.”

“If you hijacked it, don’t tell me,” Jennifer shook her, purposely ignoring the things she knew Katy got up to when she was gone because she was still trying to be a proper lawyer.

“Can I hijack you?” Katy asked, wiggling her eyebrows and it was her turn to roll her eyes.

“Worst pick up line ever,” she told her.

“I can do worse if you want,” the other woman said with a tone of promise coating her words.

Jennifer bit her lip, wishing Katy could always be around. She wasn’t sure if she really wanted a committed relationship, having always been happy with their random nights out or weekends together, but she’d be a liar to say she didn’t miss the woman regularly. Sadly she didn’t know how her friend would react to such an idea. It didn’t seem worth it considering in general she was happy. At least with them. Life on the other hand was another story.

“Do you want to go or do you want to flirt first?” Jennifer asked, only partly seriously because she had no intentions of playing hard to get this time or god forbid dancing at the moment.

“We can flirt in the car,” Katy shrugged, standing up and tossing the money to pay for her drink on the counter before leaning in close to her ear so she could hear her speaking softly. “It’s been a while, and I haven’t been with this body. I’m very much looking forward to exploring it.”

Jennifer felt a shiver of excitement course through her. She was super happy Katy didn’t care about her new form. Both because she loved it as well as the other women.

“Let’s hit the road then,” Jennifer replied, tilting her head to the side to encourage the kiss landing on her cheek because she was going to cherish still be kissable in bed eyes. “Hit me with your worst. I need a good laugh.”

“It’s going to be more like the best thank you very much” Katy winked at her, and Jennifer bit her lip with the anticipation of the wind whipping through her hair.
