Isagi is pulled out of his very comfortable dream from an onslaught of notifications from his phone. He groans as he looks around the bed for it, finally finding it and opening it up. The first thing he notices is the several messages from Bachira which are all along the lines of ”When did you two break up?!” and ”Are you holding up okay?”
To say Isagi is confused is an understatement. Firstly, he is very much still with Kaiser considering the German man was sound asleep right next to him and clinging to him by the hip, secondly, what even gave Bachira, his closest friend of all people, the impression they broke up? Thirdly, Why the hell was he texting him about it at 4 in the morning?!
Isagi scrolls up and finds a link which Bachira sent before his ongoing spam, and Isagi’s half scared to open it considering the reaction it caused Bachira to have. Did some big news station report them breaking up? Hell, them even being together wasn’t public yet… Isagi opens it to find a video posted to a German news site with sports based news, the title reads ‘SPECIAL INTERVIEW WITH KAISER: MUNCHENS NO.1!’ in German, and Isagi wastes no time in turning down the volume and watching it.
The interview seems normal, just generic questions about what his plans are for the next season, what led him to being a star, how he’s been doing recently, but it all goes downhill the moment the question, “Who would you say is most important to you?” leaves the host's lips.
Kaiser’s silent for a moment before he smiles, and Isagi already knows that Kaiser is plotting something devious from the look in his eyes. “I’d say my younger sister. Bella, if you're watching this, I miss you!” He smiles as he waves to the camera, and Isagi subconsciously smiles too. “Other than my sister… I’d say my ex-boyfriend.” Isagi freezes.
Where is Kaiser going with this?
The host’s eyes widen in shock, and they look down at their clipboard for a short second before looking up at him with a sorry expression, “I’m sorry to hear that.. Are you comfortable sharing who that past lover may be?” Kaiser smiles as he glances over to the camera, and Isagi knows that glance was sent his way alone.
”Isagi Yoichi.”
Isagi doesn’t need to hear anymore before he’s practically shaking Kaiser awake. The man groans in his sleep, clearly trying to ignore Isagi as he presses his face deeper into his shoulder. Isagi elbows him and Kaiser hisses in pain, “Michael, wake up.”
Kaiser groans as he finally shows his face, rubbing his eyes as he makes eye contact with a very angry Isagi. “What’s got you so pissed off this early?” He yawns as he says it, and Isagi flicks him in the head, taking him out of his sleepy daze.
“Why would you tell everyone in an interview that I’m your ex-boyfriend?!” He exasperates, and Kaiser smiles teasingly, “Well, you technically are.”
“Michael, that’s a horrible way of telling people we’re engaged!”
Kaiser laughs as he watches his fiance fume in anger, “Ugh, now everyone thinks we broke up… and not to mention the press is eating this up!” He barks, groaning as he closes his eyes in distress. Kaiser reduces his laughter to a smile, holding Isagi close and pressing a gentle kiss to his cheek, “Don’t worry, you’ll do a great job at delivering the news.”
Kaiser has to dodge a hit to his head for that one.

It doesn’t take long for practically the entire internet to catch onto Kaiser’s small interview from a fairly not well known German station, and now it’s all anyone can talk about on social media. Both Kaiser’s and Isagi’s messages are filled with messages of either comfort or concern towards their breakup (a few even go as far as to shit talk the other, spewing the best friend lines of ‘he never deserved you anyway’)
”look at this” Kaiser shows his phone to Isagi, angry messages from Ness which all range from ‘he never even deserved you!’ ‘I don’t know what you saw in him’ ‘you’re way better off without him Kaiser’ ‘I’m glad you’re finally done with him’
Isagi stifles a laugh, “You’re going to give him a heart attack when you tell him what you meant by ‘ex-boyfriend’”
Kaiser smiles almost despicably, “I can’t wait to see his, and everyone's reactions to you being all mine.”
Isagi is offered several interviews from several stations, quite literally everyone wants his opinion on the breakup, everyone wants to know the juicy details of how they broke up and what went wrong, and Isagi feels annoyed as he turns down every single one. However, as fate would have it, he already had an interview scheduled beforehand, before Kaiser blabbed his mouth, to a small station in Japan.
Isagi already knows that they’re going to question him about Kaiser (he doesn’t blame them, who wouldn’t take such an opportunity), but it pisses him off regardless. Kaiser cheerfully waves him goodbye and gives him a kiss before he leaves, keeping in his laughter as he tells Isagi to knock ‘em out (yeah right..)
Isagi is anxious the entire ride to the station, and he respects his driver not being too nosy about the interview in itself (Isagi’s kept his and Kaiser’s engagement from everyone, even Bachira. Kaiser said it’d make an even bigger impact when he finally reveals it, and he hopes he can trust Kaiser on that at least.)
Isagi steps out of the car and into the broadcasting room. The interviewer goes over some of the questions, and tells him he is free to decline any question which he finds unfit during the interview. Isagi agrees to everything which is set out, and before he knows it, he’s sitting on the stiff sofa with bright lights all around him, camera rolling as he takes a deep breath, he can do this.
The interview goes as smoothly as any other interview would, the questions being regular questions Isagi would be asked on any other station. Isagi feels nervous as the interview goes on, he knows they’re saving the best question for last. He fidgets slightly with his hand, rubbing the ring on his finger which he’s kept hidden. The interviewer smiles as she asks the last regular question, and she goes onto the question Isagi had been both dreading and anticipating.
“Isagi, recently there has been a lot of talk surrounding you and German star Michael Kaiser due to an interview he had recently, would you like to give you personal opinions on the matter?”
Isagi takes in a breath as he gives his best smile, a gentle laugh escaping his lips as he starts, “Well, I saw the interview myself, and to say I was shocked when I first viewed it is an understatement.” Isagi pauses for a moment, thinking of how to word his next sentence, “Michael has an interesting way of saying things to mess with people. When he said I was his ex-lover he wasn’t lying, but it’s not in the way people might think.”
The interviewer looks curious and Isagi knows it’s time to finally reveal his and Kaiser’s true relationship to the world (even if that time was sped up by Kaiser’s own enjoyment in both making Isagi suffer and messing with everyone).
Isagi uncovers his hand, and he shows his ring to the interviewer as he says, “We’re actually engaged, he did a horrible job of announcing it though, huh?” Isagi laughs as the interviewer gasps and Isagi can practically feel the shock from both her and the rest of the crew. There's a brief moment of silence before the interviewer pulls herself together, a smile on her face as she congratulates him, her words coming out fast and flustered, even she didn’t expect that answer.
When Isagi’s on the ride home, he already knows he’s going to be met with an onslaught of calls and texts from quite literally everyone he knows. He smiles as he glances over at his driver who’s fidgeting in their seat, and Isagi knows they’re keeping themselves from speaking too. “Is there anything you want to say? You seem nervous.” The woman straightens up with a blush on her face and a smile on her lips. “I.. simply want to congratulate you on your engagement Sir! I’ve always thought you and Kaiser work well together!” Isagi laughs softly as he thanks her, he wonders if all the reactions to his engagement to Kaiser will go over this smoothly…
Isagi opens the door to his and Kaiser’s shared apartment, and he’s met with a happy Kaiser who kisses him right as he walks in. “That was fantastic! I can’t wait to show you all the messages Ness has been spamming me with.” There's an almost childish smile on his face, and Isagi laughs.
He has to admit, maybe Kaiser’s idiotic way of announcing their engagement didn’t turn out so bad after all.
