Though Tainted, The Wind Blows

Summary:

Many years ago, the corrupted humans of Earth broke the ancient contract between them and Teyvat. The archons then used their powers to isolate Teyvat from Earth, angering the Earth humans. What will happen if, in present day Teyvat, an archon in disguise gets teleported to Earth? What will happen when he finds out about the myths told about his world? And, what is the meaning behind this 'rivalry'?

or

Venti gets whisked away to the mortal realm of Earth, an adversary of Teyvat. Instead of returning home the first chance he gets, Venti decides to stay undercover on Earth, and enroll into a school named UA. What happens after that is a mystery unless you click on the title to read this!!

Status: ongoing! chapter 13 added on 5/2/25!

(This is my first fanfic and I went into this with no plot whatsoever, so if things seem.. messy, that’s why. I’m not a writer, I just make my own food lol.)

Chapter 1: Prologue: Of A New World

Notes:

Hi! This is the prologue for this story! It’s quite short, but I’m not sure what else there is to put. I’m quite excited to finally start posting this after many months of writing.

For the prologue, bolded words signify important terms and/or documents and people. This should just be for the prologue, but I’ll have to see. As for the rest of the story, ‘text’ signifies thoughts, “text” is regular dialogue, ‘ text’ is the dialogue for the telepathic link that the Archons have (I’m like 100% sure that’s not canon), and text is normal emphasis. If any markings get confusing, feel free to comment and I’ll do my best to explain or change it. Also, in this story, the Archons are also allowed to give visions alongside Celestia! With that out of the way, let’s start!

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

The worlds of Teyvat and Earth used to live together in peace. They inhabited one of the many planets of the universe, though this specific planet was left unnamed. These two worlds started as two separate kingdoms; Teyvat and Earth.

Teyvat was based on mysterious powers, gods, and powerful beings. Earth, on the other hand, was simple; The mortals there lived simple lives without unexplainable magics. The mortals of Teyvat were called mortals , while the mortals of Earth were called humans. The beings of Teyvat lived happily in their respective nations, while the inhabitants of Earth created advanced technology in ways never seen before. The people of Teyvat used to marvel at the sight of metal carriages and buildings so tall they seemed to scrape the sky. The humans of Earth were amazed at the sight of clear skies, pure water, and the elements.

The two worlds traded with each other, sharing their goods and resources. The commerce between the two grew exponentially. They helped each other in times of crisis. They co-existed and helped each other thrive.

As time passed, however, the humans of Earth eventually got jealous of the power that the mortals of Teyvat wielded. The newer generations thought it wasn’t fair that the people of Teyvat were able to have such power. They didn’t understand visions and gods, and their importance with each other in Teyvat’s history.

Fearing what would become of their relationship, the Seven Archons and the Leaders of Earth created The Great Contract. The Great Contract depicted that if the people of either world were to cross the border, great consequences were to be placed upon those unfortunate to do so. To the older generations, it was saddening for them to see such a contract be placed. But they knew it was necessary; no relationship like theirs would be able to stay stable for long. Humans are naturally greedy, and nothing could ever change that. Though their connection became unstable, everything stayed peaceful, until a couple decades before quirks had evolved.

Some of the brave, power-hungry humans of Earth traveled to Teyvat, crossing the vast ocean which contained the border. Those actions broke The Great Contract that the two worlds had agreed on. After the young humans of Earth reached land on the other side, they traveled to the nearest nation they could find. They ended up in a peaceful nation, one where nature was abundant and the wind was worshiped. The humans then made their way to find some mortals, who were living freely and cheerfully. They tried to persuade the mortals of the land to give them their visions, but the mortals declined, gravely confused and disturbed. Frustrated, the humans didn’t give up and refused to leave. Eventually, wind caught on to the events that were happening, and the humans were unfortunate enough to receive Divine Punishment by none other than The Seven themselves. These events led The Seven to create a barrier, sealing off Teyvat and separating it from Earth.

“Never will the mortals of Earth have contact with us again. We will keep our people safe from anything and everything. Apologies, Leaders of Earth, but the contract has been broken. What comes forth are the terms we had agreed on.”

Together as one, The Seven channeled their power to create the barrier around Teyvat. A magical barrier fell from the sky, surrounding Teyvat, like the clearest water. No eye of any mortal of Earth would be able to locate Teyvat again. The Leaders of Earth carried on with great sorrow, but understood and accepted what their people had done. Their friendship had ended long ago.

As Teyvat disappeared into the night , the oceans closed up where it once lay. The area was now known as the Pacific Ocean.

Waking up to Teyvat gone, the new generations of Earth were angered greatly, for the power they so desperately sought after had simply vanished overnight. So, obviously, the introduction of quirks had a large impact on both the people of Teyvat and Earth.

Notes:

Yeah, this seems very short, but it’s a prologue! Prologues are supposed to be short, right?? …Idk. Anyways, please comment on what you think of this story so far! I really like reading comments, and feedback would be much appreciated!!
