After Hours

1: Movie Night
~...~
It was quiet at the Shie Hassaikai compound. Almost suspiciously so. Izuku wasn't used to it. There was usually a good bit of commotion and noise, between low-level grunts coming and going to meetings with various other groups and organizations. Even late into the night, there was typically something going on.
Not tonight though.
Izuku wasn't a member of the yakuza per se; he was Kai's partner and took care of most of the housework unless his analytical skills were needed. Even then, he didn't work in front of anyone except Kai, Hari, and Irinaka. The point was that there wasn't much time for relaxation or recreational activities, so tonight was a real treat.
Kai was, to be blunt, a workaholic and he had been striving most of his life to repay the debt he believed he owed to Pops. But he wasn't beyond reason and when Izuku suggested that he take a night off because he was clearly burnt out and being a cranky asshole, he caved. Of course, he probably did so more out of not wanting Izuku to keep pestering him and because he didn't want to sleep on the couch. Their bed was large and comfortable; the couch, not so much.
So, Kai and Hari were in the den, watching some sort of movie, while Izuku finished cleaning the kitchen and making popcorn for the three of them. The tea was ready and still piping hot and it wouldn't take long for him to fill the large bowl. The pair had already started the small movie marathon an hour or two ago, while Izuku was finishing washing the dishes, and he could barely hear the sounds coming from the TV, but he assumed they weren't discussing work. They loved to do that far too often after hours.
Once he had filled the bowl full of hot, buttery popcorn, he put it on the tray with the tea and started towards the den. As he approached it, he couldn't hear the movie but he could hear snickering and laughter, which made him smile. Kai didn't often smile or laugh in front of others, and he seldom had the free time to enjoy activities that would cause that reaction, so it warmed Izuku's heart to hear it. He truly did love the sound of Kai's laughter; it was a rare and spectacular treasure to him.
"I want to sniff her hair," came Hari's voice, followed by a fit of giggles. Izuku narrowed his eyes. What the...?
"Stay away from my hot wife!" Kai half yelled before dissolving into a fit of laughter himself.
Those little shits.
Izuku nudged the door opened and took in the sight before him. There were sake bottles on the table. The movie, Eclipse, fucking Twilight's Eclipse, was muted, and the two men seated on the couch were laughing their asses off, clearly inebriated.
"My-my-my body's hotter than yours!" Hari shouted before laughter took hold once more.
"Don't make me punch me! Er, punch you!" Kai could hardly get out. They both started laughing again, the pair muttering 'punch me' every few seconds.
"What...is going on?" Izuku asked, his green eyes narrowed in irritation.
"Izuku! We're watching Eclipse," Kai answered, turning to look at him. Yeah, he was drunk. Not much of a drinker, and a lightweight to boot, it didn't take much to get Kai in such a state. Hari was hardly better, though he could hold his liquor better.
"It's muted," Izuku stated plainly.
"We're making our own commentary. It's better that way," Hari explained through short bouts of giggling.
"I can tell," Izuku said. "And you've brought out the sake."
"We needed it. This movie...this movie sucks without it," Kai explained through snickers. "Fucking Edward sucks."
"They all suck; they're vampires," Hari pointed out. That caused another roar of laughter.
"I guess I didn't need to make the tea then," Izuku sighed sadly. That caused Kai to snap his head towards him as he placed the tray on the table.
"No, we-we definitely need the tea," Kai said while reaching for a cup.
"We ran out of booze and neither of us felt like getting up," Hari finished as he took his own cup from Izuku.
"Well then, I came just in the nick of time," Izuku replied before settling in between the two men, the bowl of popcorn on his lap. "Please continue."
Kai and Hari did, keeping the movie muted and narrating it themselves. Seeing them smile and laugh so openly and freely made Izuku's heart swell with happiness. Even if their commentary made little to no sense or if it was only the two of them who found it funny, he still enjoyed this brief moment of respite.
