Chapter Text

Scar wasn’t the safest person. He constantly found himself in dangerous situations. But he always came out relatively unscathed. Sure he had scars covering most of his body, hence the nickname but he was alive. He hummed to himself as he walked along the sidewalk.

Scar began walking across the street, paying no attention to whether a car was coming or not. Unfortunately, there was a car. He heard a gasp and felt something wrap around him, encompassing his entire body. When he looked up, he noticed he was suddenly on the other side of the road, safe. He was fine. He… He wasn’t hit by the car.

Suddenly he was dragged into a nearby alleyway and pinned to a wall. He felt small hands wrap tightly around his wrists. “What are you doing Scar?” An annoyed voice spoke and suddenly he saw the apparition of a small blond man with a pale red cloak and a large pair of white wings. A red glow creeped off of him. “Who are you? Where am I?”

“I’m your guardian angel! Why the heck do you always- always put yourself in dangerous situations? Do you know how many guardian angels you’ve had that gave up on you? But guess what? I haven’t! But gosh by this point I wish I had!” The angel seethed. “I’m sorry..?”

“No… I’m sorry Scar. I shouldn’t have snapped at you. I’m Grian.” Grian sighed, releasing Scar from the wall and crossing his arms, tucking his wings close.

“Hello Grian!” Scar smiled. “How can you smile after almost dying?”

“I don’t know.” Scar hummed.

“You are insane.”

“I wouldn’t say I’m insane. Just…” Scar trailed off.

“Desensitized?” Grian huffed.

“Yeah!”

“I need to get you home so you don’t end up dead!” Grian sighed, dragging Scar towards his home.

“You have no faith in me!” Scar gawked.

“You’re right. I don’t. I’ve seen what you can do in two seconds!” Grian replied with a cold gaze.

“Jeez.” Scar muttered, looking hurt. Grian sighed before speaking. “Sorry Scar. I’m just… frustrated… with you.”

“Oh… It’s okay! But may I know something? Why did you show yourself to me?” Scar asked.

“I don’t know. But my creator will not be happy about it.”

“Why?”

“Because guardian angels aren’t supposed to show themselves.” Grian explained.

“But why?”

“Because it’s against the rules.”

“Why is it?”

“Because! It shows that we exist! We are supposed to be silent entities that are there but no one knows!” Grian groaned.

“Oh. Can other people see you? Can they hear you?”

“No and no. They just think you are crazy and talk to yourself.” Grian replied with a soft chuckle. If you asked Scar, the chuckle was cute.

The two walked in silence until they got to Scar’s place.

“So how are guardian angels appointed to people?” Scar asked, sitting on the couch while Grian leaned against the wall, picking stuff out of his wings.

“No idea. That isn’t told to us.” Grian hummed.

“Oh. That’s strange. Why wouldn’t they tell you?”

“Because it goes against some unspoken rule from eons ago.”

“That’s dumb.” Scar commented.

“I know. That’s what I said.” Grian responded.

“If I were to make tea, would you like some?” Scar asked.

Grian seemed to think about it before shrugging. His form began to seem clearer and looked like he was just another human like Scar, apart from the large set of wings that protruded from his back. “Sure! I would love some tea! I’ve never had tea before!” Grian smiled.

The very look of the angel and his smile made Scar’s heart melt. The angel was cute. Scar felt his heart speed up and ignored his own cheeks reddening. Scar nodded, smiled back, and went to the kitchen. Grian followed and watched Scar as he made the tea. Scar filled the kettle, turned on the stove, and placed the kettle over the flame. Scar felt Grian’s hands on his shoulders and heard the sounds of wings fluttering. Scar looked to his side and saw Grian looking overly interested in what he was doing. Grian’s eyes were wide with amazement, the glitter like sparkle effect in Grian’s eyes was even more prominent.

Scar chuckled and noticed the angel's cheeks tint slightly reddish. Scar smiled softly before the tea kettle began screaming and hissing. Grian wrapped his arms around Scar, shaking. Scar quickly turned the stove off and Grian looked up, eyes wide with fear. “What was that? Why was it so loud?” Grian asked loudly. “It’s what a tea kettle does so that you know the water is boiling.” Scar replied. Grian still seemed shaken by the loud noise.

Scar grabbed two cups and placed a tea bag in each before pouring water in each. As he placed the kettle down further back on the stove to let it cool, in the process he accidentally pressed his arm against the burning hot stove grate. “Ow!” Scar yelped, yanking his arm away. A burning sensation stung his arm as he quickly began running it under cold water, exhaling between clenched teeth as water cooled the burn. “Scar! Are you okay?” Grian asked, rushing to check on the brunet. “I will be.” Scar chuckled lightly. Grian was silent for a moment when he realized Scar was already taking care of it. The angel looked away with a look of defeat. “What’s wrong Gri?”

The angel blushed at the nickname. “N-Nothing.”

Scar hummed. “Let me know if you ever want to talk about anything, Gri.”

Grian’s face turned an even deeper shade of red and it almost looked like the angel was glowing . Wait. Scar looked a bit longer and realized that Grian was glowing! It was a subtle pink glow but it was there. “Grian you.. You are glowing.” Scar chuckled. Grian huffed, the glow becoming brighter. Scar just giggled and went back to cleaning up his burn. “Hey Gri. Can you get me some bandage wrap from under my bathroom sink?”

“S-Sure.” Grian hummed before speaking some language unknown to Scar then vanishing. Scar blinked a few times before Grian returned with the bandage wrap. “Is this it?” The angel smiled warmly. “Yep!”

“Scar.”

“Yes?”

“Can I wrap your arm?” Grian looked almost nervous.

“Sure!” Scar smiled, pulling his arm out from under the water. Scar dried his arm off as he followed Grian to the living room. Scar sat on the couch and watched as Grian sat next to him and began wrapping up the burned arm. Grian seemed very happy with being able to help Scar.

That was confirmed when Grian looked up and said “Thank you Scar.”

Scar looked Grian in the eyes for a long moment. He didn’t know why but he wanted to press a quick kiss to the angel’s soft lips. He resisted the urge but god was it hard. Scar just smiled and muttered a brief “No problem. I’m glad you’re happy.”

Grian went back to wrapping up Scar’s arm, seeming to be very happy.
