It was such an overwhelming and surreal feeling to be selected in the debut line. After month and month of hard work, fighting tooth and nails to be selected and actually got chosen was such a trip. When all seven of us got selected and formed a group called ENHYPEN, we all felt like we were flying high in the sky.
Do we talk about when we will debut? Yes, that is what we all have in common after all. But when it is actually happening, we all are too overwhelmed to put any of these feelings to words. When Jungwon saw Sunoo-hyung crying this suddenly made him want to wrap Sunoo-hyung up in a blanket. Sunoo-hyung always wears his heart on his sleeve. It was so endearing to see him crying so openly. It just shows how confident he is with his feelings, and he is not bothered when other people see him cry.
The surrealness level is added when Jungwon was selected as the leader. He, not Heeseung-hyung that is much older and more experienced than Jungwon. The thought of the responsibilities and any work burden that Jungwon will have to carry almost makes his leg buckles with fear.
But each day we go through our pre-debut training at the company with him having additional 'Leader Class 101' and words of encouragement from the hyung lines and the reassurance by Sunoo-hyung and Ni-ki makes things go more smoothly.
Some quiet moments that Jungwon have at nights that plague him with overthinking thoughts Jungwon would then quietly shake Sunoo hyung leg. Since Ni-ki has taken refuge in Sunoo-hyung bed every night, it was hard for Sunoo-hyung to quickly fall asleep since he was not used to sleeping with other people especially since Ni-ki is such a cuddle bug and would suffocate him.
This usually means Sunoo-hyung won't be able to go to sleep as easily as he likes but Ni-ki face always brighten up when he got to feel his Sunoo-hyung presence, this small amount of effort for the maknae makes any uncomfortable feelings that Sunoo-hyung may have disappear. Sunoo-hyung is a sweetheart like that.
Sunoo-hyung isn't the oldest of the group, and he enjoys being babied, but he's just as strong, knowledgeable, and caring as the other hyungs. Despite him being transparent with his feelings, he is always ready to help members who are feeling awkward in any social settings and need assistance with things they find embarrassing.
Nobody feels uncomfortable around him, and they all collectively sigh at the thought of not debuting with this literal definition of sunshine. Anyway, back to him having night plague, we then would do a little late-night texting. Just having Sunoo-hyung calming company and words of consultation bring peace and give new energy to Jungwon.
This is it, tomorrow they will post their debut MV. Just the thought of that is exciting. They are all nervous, so to help channel that anxious energy. Heeseung-hyung and Jungwon came up with a plan to have video calls with our family. Parents that want to celebrate with us, just chat and introduce our members to the parents.
Today is the last day of them having any resemblance of normalcy. We all gather in the living room and connect our tv with Jungwon's phone since he already saved all the parent numbers. With the large screen we can talk more comfortably, and they can see us all together that way.
To see, Heeseung-hyung's parents baby their youngest child is kinda weird yet hilarious. Jay-hyung's parents talk like they are from some distant noble family, yet we can see that Jay-hyung's mother is as much as a mother hen as he is. Jake-hyungs parent are such chill parents that we can see where he got that charming personality from. Sunghoon-hyung parents are nice, they are more detail oriented, and we can sense they are quite a strict type of parents. Sunoo-hyung parents are just like what we imagine the people that raised him. They are so sweet it is giving us cavities.
Jungwon's parents are very well his parents, just as he finished introducing the members, they actually pull out the curse thing and show the members his childhood embarrassing pictures that he swears he buried six-foot-deep last time he went home. At night. How the heck they found it, he can literally see some dirt on the album still.
Ni-ki parents, we have some difficulty communicating since they are speaking Japanese and well, only Jay-hyung and Ni-ki are able to talk to them smoothly while we all say "hai" and nodding our heads each time they stop talking and the sentence sounds like a question.
But guessing from the blushes and loud way Ni-ki rebutting Jay-hyung and was inches away from tackling the elder, Jay-hyung may have been tattling about Ni-ki cute moments to his parents. When the video calls with Ni-ki's parents ended, he instantly dove to Sunoo-hyung arms and whining about the injustice of Jay-hyung. Sunoo-hyung just laughed and ruffled his hair to sooth his mood. By the way Ni-ki giving his side smirk to Jay-hyung, we can see how much an ego boost he got from conquering Sunoo-hyung hugs.
It was almost midnight when we finished the video calls. Sunoo-hyung is battling Ni-ki on who to use the bathroom first, while the rest is waiting on who would win and take turns from there. We all know it's going to be Sunoo-hyung that wins anyway. Ni-ki would never really fight with his dear hyung he just wants to tease the elder a little. 3, 2, 1.
"Fine hyung, but you promise me you will buy me ice cream next time we go out"
"Yes, yes, yes. Thanks very much Ni-ki ya " Sunoo-hyung says successfully securing the bathroom.
As Ni-ki walks back to the couch we all can see the smug look he gave all of us. This brat really knows where to poke us, huh (- _ -!!)
“Ding!” Jungwon message notification pops up. That’s weird, an unknown number? Please, please!! They haven't debuted yet. Did some sasaeng already get his phone numbers? He clicks on the message and instantly feels relieved when it's just Sunoo older sister that we haven't got the chance to video call just now. He knows this since she provided a very, very good piece of evidence of her identity. A cute picture of Sunoo-hyung as a baby wearing a sailor kinder garden uniform. Just adorbs ( > , < )!!!. This needs to be saved in the achieved, away from all the negative energy. This picture radiates pureness.
“Hi! This is Sunoo’s older sister. Nice to meet you Jungwon-ah, the name is Soyoung 🤗”
“Hello, Soyoung-unnie😁 Sorry we didn’t get to meet you for the video call meeting.”
“Hehehe, it's okay. I was busy with my studies and wasn’t able to greet everyone. So here I am😅”
“No, no, no, unnie, it's okay, we understand you must be very busy with university and stuff.”
“Yes, unfortunately, university really serving us a real dose of ass kicking 🤧. So, actually, I'm here to give you guys a guide 😏”
“A guide?”
“Yeass, what guide you may ask? A guide on how...”
“Jungwon? Who are you texting?” Sunghoon-hyung voice suddenly interupt. Huh, I almost had a heart attack there hyung! My hand immediately rubs slightly startle heart.
“I got a text from Sunoo-hyung's sister. Her name is Soyoung-unnie. She was sorry she wasn’t able to hop on our video calls just now. She trying to tell me something so with all due respect shush please.”
“Yahhh!! Jungwonnie, I want to know too. Whats the tea? Share some with us. Is that, is that Sunoo-ah childhood picture. No way!! She actually gives you that, send it to me right now😤”
Sunghoon-hyung loud ass voice attract all the hyungs (except Sunoo-hyung since he is still in the bathroom) plus Ni-ki.
“Thats not fair Jungwon-ah, you got to share the good stuff” Jake-hyung butt in.
“No way, Soyoung-unnie sents it to me, so it's mine.” Jungwon denies this.
“Heeseung-hyung, look at him, he won't share😢” Jake tattles on him. Heeseung-hyung pats his hair to calm him down.
“Now, now Jungwon-ah, don’t be so possessive. You know what they say, sharing is caring🤗”
“But hyung, Soyoung-unnie specifically give this limited-edition picture of Sunoo-hyung wearing sailor uniform 😣” Jungwon is adamant to deny them of getting their grabby hands on the picture.
“Ahhh, I forgot, Soyoung-unnie!!”
“Yeass, what guide you may ask? A guide on how to care for an oblivious Sunoo 🤗”
“Huh??”
