Work Text:

the orange sunlight streamed through ayaka’s large balcony window as she and yoimiya giggled. ayaka felt her face grow warmer as yoimiya clasped their hands together and leaned close to her. “i love you,” she said quietly, smiling softly. ayaka always thought the way her eyes and bridge of her nose crinkled as yoimiya smiled was so cute. oh gods, she was in love. “i love you too,” she replied, giving her a soft kiss on her cheek. yoimiya’s face reddend and she rested her forehead on ayaka’s.

they swayed back and forth softly, yoimiya humming an unfamiliar tune to ayaka. yoimiya pressed her lips against ayaka’s, and put one of her hands on ayaka’s cheek, stroking her thumb across it lightly. ayaka felt her cheeks warming as she kissed back, a smile tugging at her lips.

it was a quiet, private moment, one that ayaka would be content with living in forever. just her and yoimiya, kissing and dancing softly. yoimiya pulled back to press kisses to ayaka’s cheeks, nose, forehead, and anywhere else on ayaka’s face. ayaka smiled, putting her free hand on the back of yoimiya’s neck, and kissing her lips. she was grateful to have this. this one, soft moment of warmth and happiness.

the moment was interrupted by ayato opening her door. “ayaka, i made dinner, your fa—“ he started, his voice abruptly stopping when he saw yoimiya and ayaka. the two scrambled apart, both red in the face. “ayato, you weren’t supposed— i mean, this wasn’t— it’s not like—,” ayaka sputtered, quickly panicking. ayato looked, to ayaka’s horror, unsurprised and disappointed. “ayaka, can i talk to you ? alone ?” he asked, his gaze bouncing between his sister and yoimiya. ayaka swallowed the lump forming in her throat, and stepped outside her room, leaving yoimiya alone. ayato slid the door shut.

“so, you and the inazuma girl, huh ?” ayato said, a small smile forming. “it’s not— no ! i’m sorry, ayato. you were never meant to find out. i was— we were scared of what you would say. you’re not mad, are you ?” ayaka answered quickly, looking horrified. “no, i’m not,” ayato laughed. “i thought something was going on between you two, actually. you always act giggly when she sits down for dinner with us, and you give each other lovesick smiles. it’s, well, a bit obvious.” ayaka put her hands over her face in embarrassment. “but, to be serious, aya, you can like whoever you want. it doesn’t matter to me, and it never has. i just want you to be happy, okay ?” he smiled, pulling ayaka into a hug. ayaka returned his embrace, and felt overjoyed. “thank you, ayato. i really love her, a lot.” she could hear the smile in his voice when he said, “i know you do, aya. she’s a sweet girl, real cheery and kind.” ayaka sighed, “yeah, she really is.” ayato pulled back, a knowing look on his face. “i love you, ayaka. now, both of you need to come down for dinner ! your soup’s getting cold,” he chided, walking down the hall.

ayaka slid back into her room and jumped into yoimiya’s arms, laughing and smiling. “woah ! i take it he’s not mad ?” yoimiya teased, running her hand up and down ayaka’s back. “not at all ! he didn’t care !” ayaka exclaimed happily, pressing kisses to yoimiya’s face. “ayaka, that’s awesome ! i’m glad he’s not upset,” yoimiya responded happily, kissing ayaka softly. ayaka put her hands on yoimiya’s cheeks, and she felt the warmth radiating off of her girlfriend’s face.

“your dinner’s getting colder by the second !” ayato called, making them both jolt.

“race you there ?” “oh, you are so going down !”
