Chapter Text
Chiyo and Osaka walk down the street after school. They always come back together, just the two of them. But…
“Hey Chiyo-chan, have you ever felt like you are being followed?”
“Why do you ask?”, says the younger one.
“Umm, I don’t know… It’s just that I feel like there’s someone behind us… watching us…” Osaka tries to take a peek behind her, but Chiyo grabs her hand:
“Don’t worry, Miss Osaka! Maybe it’s just your head playing tricks on you.”
Quickly, a silhouette hides behind the street corner. It was Tomo, who looked exausted because of her sweating, but somehow embarrassed by her flustered face. “They almost saw me!”- she thought to herself - “What if Osaka actually looked behind and realized I was following them?” Tomo shakes at the thought. “Maybe I should head home instead…”
Tomo had no idea what was going on her mind to follow Osaka home. “God, I sounded like a creep! Why in the heck did I do that?” was the only thing that echoed on the brunette’s head. But she couldn’t lie: She felt satisfied for doing so. Being able to watch Osaka and her weirdly graceful walking, without her knowing it and questioning Tomo about it? That’s all she wanted. She had no idea why, but lately she caught herself thinking too much about her naïve friend. She have been blushing and looking at the other a lot during the classes that she had no idea how didn’t anyone realize that until now. Ugh, what the heck is wrong with me!?”, wondered the reckless chick.
Arriving at home, Tomo showered then started searching for her phone on her desk drawers. Tomo never brought her phone to class because she knew someone would steal it. She knew her classmates very well, specially her teacher. “Found ya!” mumbled Tomo while picking up something under a bunch of unused notebooks. It was a bright red flip phone that she got on her birthday. She was willing to decorate it with a few phone charms but she always wastes all her money on lunch. Typing and clicking on the phone’s keyboard, she dialed Yomi’s number on her contact list.
“Hello?” said a calm, quite sleepy voice.
“Yo, Yomi!”
“You called because you want my homework, don’t you?”- said, visibly annoyed.
“You bet I did!”
“Then guess what? I’m still not done with it.”
“WHAT!?” Tomo gasps. Yomi was always fast on the homeworks to the point Tomo would arrive home and she already were doing something else instead.
“And I’ll have an appointment with my ophthalmologist in 30 minutes, so I won’t finish anytime soon. How about you put your brain to work and do your homework all alone, huh?”
Tomo ended the call immediately. With a mix of boredom and rage on her expression, she started to check her contacts list. “I don’t have Osaka’s number… does she even have a phone?” thought out loud. “Maybe I’ll ask her number tomorrow at school-“
WAIT.
No, that felt so embarrassing. But why? Osaka was her friend, there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s not like asking a guy you like his phone number. Actually, Tomo never felt like she needed to ask someone their number, so she rather think it’s just that. That it’s normal to feel like that. But something tells her it’s not that.
The girl had her head so messed up between all these thoughts, she just really wants to forget it all. Throw it all off her head like throwing a paper in the trash can. But she actually throws her entire body on her bed. Her head, so dazzed and confused, ends up passing out in the pillow like a drunk guy fainting on the bar seat.
When the brunette wakes up, it’s already 5 pm. Did she slept for so long? She grabs her phone again, willing to call Yomi, but she doesn’t do so. She keeps staring at her cellphone, deciding whether to call her friend or not. She needs to do the homework, she needs her help. But she doubt the girl would care. She didn’t knew what to do anymore. She felt like calling someone. She wants to call someone, but who? And why.
Osaka.
But she doesn’t have her number… The thought that she’ll need to wait till tomorrow haunts her. She wants to talk to her, desperately.
Desperate. She’s desperate for Osaka. Tomo feels so crazy for feeling like that. What do she wants with Osaka?
“God, what’s up with me?” Tomo thinks out loud. She had no idea what’s going on, she never felt like this for anyone. Before she could even figure it out, her mom was screaming her name, calling her over for dinner.
The dinner was like any other one at Tomo’s residence. After it, she went straight to her bedroom. She thought to herself during the meal “Maybe if I sleep earlier, tomorrow will come faster…?”
And she did so. It was only 6pm and a half when she put on her pajamas and prepared her room to rest. She leaned down on her bed, her back against the mattress, gazing at the ceiling. She felt like Osaka staring at the nothing. “Osaka…” she whispered all of sudden. She really wanted her friend close to her right now. She felt like she never told Osaka how much she matters to her, how much she enjoys being with her. While thinking about Osaka, Tomo ended up collapsing in her bed again. But now not in a bad mood. She actually passed out with a light smile on her face, as she enjoyed it. She enjoyed thinking about Osaka that much.
