Work Text:

“I understand why we don’t live in North Italy now,” Leone said, unzipping his overcoat as he sat down on the leather couch, cold from the lack of warmth in the house.

They came to North Italy on business, to meet with the head of the sector of Passione in this part of the country. It shouldn’t have been Bruno’s job-- he rarely left Naples--but here he was, in a secure house located in the countryside of Bergamo.

Bruno lit the pilot light on the gas heater and plugged a space heater into a socket, setting it down in front of the couch. He sat down beside Leone.

“You didn’t have to come, you know,” Bruno said, a smirk rising on his lips. “This isn’t your mission, and you knew it would be cold.”

Leone walled his eyes at Bruno. “Like I would let you come up here alone, even if just for a meeting.”

“You’d let me?” Bruno’s eyebrow quirked up.

Leone didn’t acknowledge his comment. “Is there a blanket in here somewhere? This space heater isn’t cutting it.” He zipped his jacket back up and stood from the couch.

Bruno leaned back on the couch, his hands tucked into the folds of his arms. Though he was here on business, he relished the time away from Naples. He’d been looking for an excuse to get away, to clear his head after all that had happened with the Boss. To be in a village outside Bergamo, where no one knew their names, their faces, or what they did for a living. Only the members of Passione would recognize them, and in this part of the country, they were few and far between.

“I found something,” Leone said, carrying a chunky crochet blanket into the living room. He sat down and draped it over himself and Bruno. The blanket was large enough to cover both of them, from their shoulders to their feet.

Bruno smiled. “Thank you, Leone,” he said, laying his head on Bruno’s shoulder. “For the blanket.” He paused. “And for coming with me.” He kissed his shoulder.

Leone sighed and met Bruno’s gaze, a faint smile on his face. “How long are we staying?”

“Tonight, tomorrow, and the day after.”

Leone thought for a moment. Tonight and tomorrow he understood, but why wouldn’t they just leave after the meeting? Granted, he wasn’t looking forward to the seven-hour train ride back to Naples.

“We need a day to ourselves, don’t you think?” It was as though he read his mind.

Leone finally relaxed, sinking into the couch and leaning against Bruno as he finally warmed. It was almost just as he fell asleep when Bruno spoke.

“Do you really want to spend the night on the couch?”

Leone huffed and stood from the couch, his joints creaking when he stood. He was stiff from the train ride, and he didn’t want to think about how stiff he’d be in the morning if he fell asleep on the couch. He helped Bruno stand as well, and he laughed at a loud pop from Bruno’s back.

“Shut up,” Bruno spat, playfully cold. “I know you aren’t talking.”

“I’m not,” Leone said. “I’m laughing.”

Leone gathered the blanket and their belongings, a weekend bag for the both of them and a few items to be hung, and found the master bedroom. Unlike the front of the house, it was warm.

“Central heating,” Bruno said, pointing to the thermostat on the wall.

Leone hung up their outfits for tomorrow. “I think they should wire the whole house for that.”

“Maybe we just missed the thermostat,” Bruno said, shutting the door behind himself. He sat down on the bed to change into his sleepwear, a match in design to his outerwear. “Surely you’ve warmed up by now.”

Leone donned a pair of flannel pajamas, black with gold accents. “I had, until you made me get out from under the cover.” He sat down beside Bruno and crossed his arms.

Bruno clicked his tongue, his smirk returning. He hummed as he closed the space between them, wrapping his arms around Leone’s torso. “I can warm you up, if you’d like.” He planted a kiss on Leone’s collarbone, trailing his lips up his neck and to his ear.

“You’re a fucking cliche, you know that?” Leone huffed, eyes forced away from Bruno.

Bruno brought his hand to Leone’s jaw, stroking his cheekbone with his thumb. “Your face is warm, my dear. I thought you were cold.”

Leone’s eyes flashed, and he leaned down on the bed, taking Bruno with him. He pulled the covers over them, and he locked onto Bruno’s gaze. He kissed him once, quickly, with the same passion Bruno kissed his neck.

“I’m tired, and I know you are, too,” Leone said, but it wasn’t to shut down whatever Bruno started. “So keep me warm tonight, and we can continue this tomorrow, okay?”

Bruno shifted against him, resting his head on Leone’s chest. “Okay,” Bruno said, a smug grin on his face as he planted a kiss on Leone’s chest.

Sleep overcame them within the minute, and Leone was as warmed and loved as he had ever been.

Notes:

OMG MY FIRST TIME WRITING BRUABBA!!! i am so excited for februabba this year and i really want to do more than one day. i enjoyed writing this!! bruno and leone have a very fun dynamic. this fic is partially inspired by the fact that i hate winter. it is so fucking cold.

since one of the prompts was cozy, i chose it! there's a little nod to today's other prompt, fashion, too! i had a lot of fun writing this. definitely going to explore their dynamic more and get back into writing fanfic, since i took a break to work on my nanowrimo project.

thanks so much for reading! i hope you enjoyed, kudos and comments are cherished :)
