Work Text:

There the mannequin sat, patiently waiting inside the large amusement park building known as 'Castle of Nations.' He tiredly fiddled with this pickax, nothing really coming to mind as he did. Climber's mind remained empty and blank as he soullessly stared at the sharp tool he carelessly carried around with him 24/7. But still, patiently he waited in the spot, the spot him and Clarice always met.

And just as if it was a miracle to save him from his endless boredom and sulking, Clarice stepped right into said room and plopped herself right next to the cloth doll. She turned her head to face him directly, seeing as how he had instantly perked up from his previous frowning look. She feels a smirk form across her face, not being able to control it doing so. She can't help but smile when he does too.

She looks at him, him gazing at her back with a confused but happy look. She zoned out, not noticing she had been. She'd lost herself in thoughts and emotions, ones that overflowed her with a burning sensation. It wasn't anything intimate, but something else. A fluttery feel bubbling in her stomach, a swell in her throat and a heat on her face.

Is this love?

No, no no no no no. She repeated that word in her head, she refused to believe such a ridiculous idea. In love? With a mannequin? She sounds like a sociopath. What fool develops such feelings? She can't help but try to wash down those feelings, erase all thoughts of possible love from her mind.

But just like that, she's yanked out of her dazed out state of overthinking and emotions when she hears a loud crashing sounds, followed by a yelp. She focused back at Climber, taking notice of fear being plastered all over his face and body movement.

He steals the first word nonetheless, "W-What was that? Is it the end of the world? Is it the wolves again?!" He yells slightly with concern and fear spewing out as he speaks, no control over how he sounds at the moment.

Another boom crashes down, and light flashes throughout the area, practically blinding the brunette. Clarice blinks, as she feels a tight grip around her arm. She snaps her head around to see none other then Climber gripping onto her arm for dear life as he buries his face into her shoulder, practically shaking manically.

Shes not fully aware how to react, so she whips her head forward to look out a small open window that is located in front of them. She listens and watches, relaxing much more when she sees its simply just rain and thunder. No crazy wolves or end of the world senecio, and no Chimbley falling off the roof again. God, he's an idiot sometimes.

She turns back to the shaking doll, and uses her other arm to cup his face, lifting up his face to look her in the eyes. She rubs her thumb in a comforting and slow manner on his cheek, hoping to calm the frightened soul. He leans in quickly, letting himself relax into the touch of her warm hand as he shuts his eyes.

"It's no wolves or anything bad, simply just thunder. It wont hurt you aslong as your here with me, alright? Don't freak out." She calmly explains, hoping he'd understand to an extent, even with no knowledge of topics like this.

The pale man opens his eyes again, a questioning look appearing on his face with clear confusion.

"What's thunder?" He spoke out.

The girl sighs with a small smile tearing from her mouth, she can't help but be amused at his silly questions.

"It's hard to explain. It has to do with weather, but it wont hurt you."

Climber's still visibly confused, but decided not to push any further then that. He goes back to focusing on the touch of her hand, raising his own to grab onto her's that rested on his cheek. They stay there for a bit, comfortable silence and warmth.

Up until another booming sound is heard from outside, startling Climber and causing him to jump with a whining sound. He whimpers at the loss of comfort and the worry rushing back to him, and feels as if he's back to panicking all over again. But, perfectly, Clarice opens her arms to signal Climber into hug. He complies as he practically leaps into her arms, burring his cloth face into the crook of her neck as he swings and curls his arms all the way around her.

She makes sure to lightly hold him, as his cloth is very fragile. Clarice rubbed small, slow, and comforting circles on his back as she held him close. The warmth radiating from both of them quickly warmed the two up, and so did the fluttery warm feelings flushing their bodies.

They both stayed there, the brunette giving small shushes and praises every time he got startled. This continued on for quite some time, all till it was simply just raining with no thunder. The rain softly hitting the roof and pavement, whilst being in each others arm drove both of them to sleep. Even though Climber doesn't need to, he can choose to. And so they both slept, holding and rubbing against each others bodies as they slept in peaceful silence.

Even though Climber doesn't need to sleep, he chooses too. :3
