“Did I…” He paused for a moment, letting the quietness linger.
“...Did I really hurt you that much…?”
They haven’t heard his voice laced with such gentleness for a long time.
His partner’s back was turned against him, being the wall that he must face.
“Yes.” They spat back, their tone torn.
The silence between them stretched on like a rubber band.
Sinclair didn’t completely know what went wrong. Weren’t things supposed to go right? But no. This is supposedly where the dream ends. And he must wake up.
Hurt, he slightly withdrew himself from the fading resemblances of a friend. Distant.
They were nothing but a shape to him right now.
Sinclair repositioned himself, stood tall with his hands clasped at his legs.
“Would you like me to grant you one last wish?” The mirror asked the person softly.
“I wish you were dead.” The voice responded, soaked with vitriol.
Yeah, that’s it.
He had so many questions. So so many questions on how he fucked this up. He loved them, he truly did. He granted all their wishes and took them to majestic places that their life in the real world would never experience. Seeing their large smile drawn across their face--it meant the entire universe to him.
Will that smile ever come back again, with or without him around?
Pained, Sinclair’s eyes drew off to one side before he simulated a huff.
“You know I can’t die.” The mirror told them, truthfully. “But I can disappear from your world forever, and all you will have of me is your memory-”
“Idontcarejustfuckingleavebye.”
Oh, well.
Finally, Sinclair’s back faced the person’s as he shut his eyes and silently granted their wish.
‘Bye.’
He thought.
At long last, the stranger’s burden finally ceased, but they didn’t dare to look back.
[Sinclair, on the other hand, threw himself into another strange world. Mountains spiraled upwards like twisted marshmallows. The sky was a lemonade pink and the clouds were a light yellow. He got up from his harsh landing, plucked the residue off of his frame and began wandering off.
He tried to recall any memories of the one he spoke to but they were all fuzzy by then.]
