It happened, of all days, on a Wednesday.
Enid and her Wednesday were walking in the woods after class, looking for bones; having made a deal with each other that if the blonde helped then Wednesday would allow her to paint patterns on the goth’s nails.
After almost an hour, the wolf’s keen nose finally led them to the half decomposed body of a buck. Wednesday had rushed to it the moment she’d spied it, hoisting up a fleshless skull with both antlers still attached for the blonde to see.
And that’s when it happened.
Enid witnessed Wednesday’s mouth split open into a joyful grin— with honest to god dimples —at the exact same moment that a beam of sunlight cut through the psychic’s eyes, setting them ablaze in all their dark brown glory.
And a little voice, that could have been in her head or her throat or just her heart, went ‘Oh’.
Now, this ‘oh’, small as it was, meant a lot of different things.
It meant;
‘Oh, you can smile’
and
‘Oh, I’m falling for you’
and
‘Oh, I already fell’
And a thousand other things that Enid couldn’t quite put words to just yet.
But mostly it meant;
‘Oh, there you are; I've been waiting for you.'
