Connie glances up when Elizabeth enters the office, she’s quieter than usual, pensive almost and Connie closes her work, standing to move closer, not caring that people are watching her. She’s more worried about Elizabeth.
“February blues?”
“Something like that.”
Elizabeth’s soft sigh is rewarded with a gentle hug, Connie’s lips pressing to her cheek.
“Come home with me then, I know Nina would love to see you again…”
She can see Elizabeth is about to refuse and speaks softly.
“Beth… we have room, come home.”
Elizabeth gives in and smiles when she enters the house Connie shares with Nina to the sight of Nina’s slick gaming skills, Nina’s laugh soft as she beats whoever she’s playing then turns the game off.
“One day you’ll stop challenging me Cutter… you never win.”
She rings off the call she’d been sharing then smiles over at Elizabeth.
“Happy February Lizzie.”
“How did you…”
“I know how Connie can be… besides, I care about you. You keep Connie safe…”
Nina’s smile softens as she moves closer, her voice lower and huskier as her lips brush Elizabeth’s ear.
“Besides, you’re really hot.”
