Chapter Text
Tommy wasn’t a particularly calm guy, at least not in front of most people. It was a rare occurrence to find him actually quiet and still.
Tommy was diagnosed with ADHD at a young age, and to his disappointment, it only got worse as he aged.
this could explain why, at the moment, Tommy could be seen rolling around in his bed, the sheets tangling up in his legs as he twisted and squirmed.
Tommy and his brothers, Wilbur and Technoblade, had just moved into their fathers cozy cabin. Their father who wasn’t present for more than half of their lives. Tommy didn’t know how to feel.
So, he just decided on rolling around. Yeah, that seems easy.
”Tom! Have you unpacked?” Wilbur yelled from the kitchen. Tommy glanced around his room, grimacing at the untouched suitcases on the floor.
“yeah!” He lied. He would do it later, besides, unpacking made it real. Tommy didn’t want this to be real.
The reason their father had suddenly taken them in, was due to their mothers death. Their mother wasn’t a very good person to begin with, hooked on drugs and never home. It wasn’t much of a surprise when they got a call informing of her overdose.
The boys didn’t take it too hard as they never truly got a chance to bond with her. Sure, she kept them alive and under a roof, but she never bothered to even talk to her sons.
So, although they had barely met their father, they decided it would probably be better with him.
“Tommy, come get dinner!” Techno yelled, his voice barely raising above his normal tone. Tommy groaned, pushing himself out of his bed and down the hallway. The cabin wasn’t too small, but it definitely wasn’t preferable for a family of four. Tommy was just lucky to get his own room, sticking his tongue put at his brothers once he found out they had to share.
”Here, Toms. Eat up!” Phil grinned, pushing a plate towards the blonde as he plopped down. Tommy rested his chin in his hand, pushing his food around with his fork as he bounced his leg.
”so, like.. is there anything fun to do around here?” Tommy asked, looking through the windows to find a huge lake and nothing else but mountains.
”Well, sure! I quite enjoy fishing, and i think i have some puzzles around here somewhere..” Phil started. Techno perked up at he mention of puzzles, it seemed to be the only remotely fun thing there.
Tommy sighed, taking a couple bites of his food before pushing it away, standing up.
“I’m gonna go outside, is that alright?” Tommy asked, already stepping out of the door.
“yeah- just, be careful!” Phil yelled, his voice fading as Tommy shut the door behind him. He traveled wherever his long legs would take him, humming as he came across a little pond.
Tommy poked at the small frogs that hopped around by the pond, chuckling as the jumped away from him.
Tommy recalled a memory from when he was young, him and his brothers had been out in the woods behind their house. They came across a group of frogs, Techno had thought it would be funny to play a trick on his youngest brother.
”Hey, Tommy! If you give the frog a kiss, it will turn into a magical prince!” He had lied. Tommy, the young naive kid he was, believed him. His eyes lit up with excitement as he quickly picked up a frog, not minding the sliminess. He quickly pecked it, pulling away and watching with wide, hopeful eyes.
When Tommy’s brothers bursted out laughing, his smile faded and he stomped away, huffing as he burned red from embarrassment.
Tommy smiled fondly at the memory, picking up a straying frog with gentle hands and moving it towards the water.
“What are you doing?”
“AH- fuck!” Tommy screeched, falling back into the grass. He looked up with wide eyes, panting as he took in the unfamiliar figure.
“Shit- you alright, mate? Thats my bad.” The man- no, boy- spoke. He seemed to be around Tommy’s age.
“W-who are you?” Tommy asked, brushing his shirt off as he stood. The boy grinned, holding out his hand.
”Im Tubbo! I live right over there-“ he pointed to a house behind Tommy, not too far from his own. Tommy hesitantly took Tubbos hand in his own, shaking it firmly.
“Im Tommy. uh.. I was just looking at the frogs. It’s kinda boring out here, if I’m being honest.” Tommy chewed his lip, he felt awkward. The boy across from him raised his eyebrows, looking surprised.
”Boring, eh? Well- i quite like the nature. I find it relaxing, and it most certainly can be fun.” Tubbo said, matter-of-factly. The sass took Tommy aback, it was almost amusing.
”Hm.. well, clearly, you and I are not the same, pal.” Tommy grinned. Tubbo quirked a smile, raising an eyebrow.
”I suppose we aren’t..” Tubbo kicked a rock at his feet.
“Say, I’m new around here. How about you show me how to have fun around this place, hm?” Tommy suggested. Tubbo lit up, he nodded enthusiastically. Quickly, Tommy was getting dragged along a trail.
Soon, they reached a glass building. Upon further inspection, Tommy came to realize it was a greenhouse.
“The hell? How the fuck is gardening fun..” Tommy scoffed. Tubbo glared, stepping inside the humid room.
“Stop being rude, Tommy.” Tubbo huffed. Tommy raised his hands in a defensive manner, chuckling as he looked around. He noticed all the bright, healthy plants around the room.
”These all your plants?” Tommy asked, running a finger along one of the stems. Tubbo nodded, grabbing a couple things from a drawer. Tommy ran his fingertips along an aloe vera, eyes widening in curiosity when he noticed sticky goo coming from one of the ends.
”EW! Ew, eww! Fuck- that was disgusting!” Tommy shrieked. Tubbo jumped out of his skin, whipping around to investigate the problem. He almost- no, he definitely laughed at the sight he saw.
Tommy had aloe dripping from his fingers, and in attempt to wipe it off, he smeared it on his face and on his clothes. His eyes were wide and he had a grimace on his face.
“don’t laugh! help me, you dickhead!” Tommy yelled, holding in his own chuckles. Tubbo cackled, stumbling over to his new friend. Tubbo laid a hand on Tommys shoulder, catching his breath as he pulled a napkin out of his pocket, Tommy decided not to question why he had it. "Shit, man. Your plants are quite disgusting, if im honest." Tommy commented. "Oh, shut up. My plants are fine, your just stupid." Tubbo rolled his eyes, wiping aloe from Tommys cheek. After an hour of laughing, teasing, and little gardening, the boys stepped out of the greenhouse. In the little time they were in there, Tommy had dirt covering his clothes and a smile etched on his face.
"So, have I shown you how to have fun, up here?" Tubbo asked, quirking an eyebrow. Tommy grinned, ruffling the boys hair.
"Most definitely. But, the day has come to an end and i am absolutely drenched in dirt and aloe, so i have to head home." Tommy frowned. Tubbo copied his expression, nodding slowly.
"Okay.. maybe you can come by again? We can get to know each other!" Tubbo suggested. Tommy immediately agreed, his face lighting up. The boys eventually said their goodbyes, Tommy walking away with a content smile on his face.
Maybe it wouldn't be so bad, here.
