Work Text:
After around a year after I became the master, I started having some strange dreams. Last night was different from the others. I found myself in the middle of ruins that resembled Kurian Village. The smell of ash filled the air as I made my way towards the main building. The silence that accompanied me was deafening. Pushing the thought aside I followed the path through the rubble, careful to avoid broken glass and the beams of wood.
What I saw at the end was a bit strange considering the circumstances. The two jars containing Ami and Mia were still intact. “I’m glad you made it. We were unable to contact you earlier as we were trapped by the rubble.” Mia explained. I could tell immediately that she was concerned about something. “Well what is going on here? Just a few nights ago this place was still standing?” I asked trying to process what was happening. Mia and Ami glanced at each other before turning their attention towards me. “The village is in danger. There’s something in the spirit realm that is trying to use the upcoming ceremony to escape. Unless we can figure out how to keep it from escaping it will destroy the village. I fear that no one will make it out.” Ami explained.
I felt a chill travel up my spine when she finished. I’m not sure they were aware that Phoenix and Edgeworth had been joining the annual ceremony as they are important to me. Before I could react I heard what sounded like heavy footsteps. They were so loud that the small rocks bounced slightly as this shadow reached the main building.
The next moment I was awake, laying on the couch just outside Phoenix’s office. My heart was racing as I thought about the warning. For several moments I was worried that Phoenix was in the office only to find out that the building was empty. Once I was able to calm down I headed towards the entrance of the building. Phoenix had left a note for me explaining that he had taken an extra week off to prepare for the ceremony. “Looks like I will be heading over to Kurian Village on my own. Hopefully I can figure out what this thing is and a way to prevent it from escaping.” I muttered to myself before stepping outside.
