Work Text:
Looking to his side, Genji checks the digital alarm clock standing alone on a barren night stand. It was 4am on a snowy night in Switzerland.
He was currently laying down in a queen sized bed with his best friend, his colleague, the Angel of Oberwatch Ms. Angela Ziegler.
Genji was laying partially on his left side, with his head laying in Angela's lap. A blanket was wrapped up to Genji's chin and the warmth of everything brought overwhelming happiness to his tired mind.
There was a soft orange light coming from the colored bulb in the lamp on the nightstand, illuminating the room in a warm glow that amplified the warmth in Genji's heart. It cast a heavenly glow on Angela and made her appear like a goddess. In a way she was, at least to him.
She saved his life more times than he could count on his one organic hand and she would undoubtedly increase that number as time went on. Her intellect knew no bounds and she revolutionized medicine forever. Mastering ressurection and nano technology that could seal wounds and increase power output of living organisms were only her most headlined achievements. She truly was a god among men, and Genji was happy to be there for her. He could never save her life in the way she has done for him (not like she would ever be in a situation of that sort), but he could give her a shoulder to lean on when she was exhausted or a person to make her coffee when the nights ran long. He could be her companion and that was enough for him.
Genji shifted his eyes up at Angela and took in all the emotions that flooded his mind. They were different feelings than he experienced on a day-to-day, they were unexplainedly gleeful and filled with adoration.
It had been too long since happiness was something Genji could grasp for more than a moment, but when he looked at Angela, all he could feel was a passion that knew no true words.
Angela had been reading a small novel when Genji took his synthetic hand and moved it toward her's. Angela put her book down and with words unspoken, their hands clasped together, bringing a smile to each other's faces.
"Angela," Genji reservedly spoke, not wanting to disturb his feeling of blissful ambience.
"Yes, Genji?"
"I love you."
