“Can you believe that?” Morgan asked, still covered in a mix of glowing ‘ectoplasm’ goo and stage makeup when they dumped their body onto the couch. “Conundrum Corporation called the SpecterSeizers to deal with me! I was a class three spectral disturbance!”
“You’re welcome,” Alex replied, snapping the mess out of the room before sitting next to their partner in crime.
“Seriously, thanks. I don’t know how I would have done the makeup without you.”
“What are friends for?”
“No, no, that’s what partners in crime are for.” Morgan moved so their head was resting in Alex’s lap, their face still split into a grin. “Class three spectral disturbance. And the SpecterSeizers!”
“Translation: you were a spooky enough ghost the Conundrum Corporation thought they were dealing with more than a villain hiding behind a mask.” Alex poked their partner’s nose. “How long are you going to be riding this high? You haven’t slept in two days.”
“Don’t you dare knock me out. Give me another hour.” Morgan looked towards the kitchen like they were considering drinking a celebratory Blood of their Enemies.
“One hour,” Alex conceded. “But you’re taking a shower before you go to bed.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever.” Morgan reached down to pull the gold out of the bag they filled with the treasure they found while haunting the oil baron’s mansion, starting to count the coins. Alex snapped their knitting project into their hands and let their partner get the post-haunt high out of their system naturally. They always woke more refreshed if they went to sleep without Alex forcing them to.
Sure enough, before the hour was up - and frustratingly, before they had a chance to take a shower - Morgan was snoring lightly on Alex’s lap. Alex snapped their knitting project away and ruffled Morgan’s hair, smiling. “My spooky ghost. Proud of you.” The S Tier Villain leaned back, yawning, as they tried to decide whether or not to carry Morgan to bed.
