Summary:

Fig drags her girlfriend to a photo booth when they're at a fun fair

Notes:

Ok, angst tomorrow! I hope you enjoy this fluff for now!

This is fairly short, originally it was planned as part of another work (which you'll see late on in the month 👀) but that one got away from me and ended up being very long, so I never added this part in

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Fig rolled her eyes at her girlfriend, both of them laughing as they sprinted through the crowds of the funfair, there really wasn’t any reason for them to be running, it wasn’t like they were expecting there to be a massive queue or anything and they weren’t against the clock with a set deadline.

It was just nice to run hand in hand with Adaine, it made her feel free.

“It’s just, like… tradition?” She called back, in answer to Adaine’s question about why they’d go to a photo booth when Fig had already insisted on taking an exorbitant amount of selfies on her crystal.

“It’s a cute couple thing!” If it was possible, Fig’s smile grew even wider as she said the word ‘couple’. No matter how often she used the word, or how often she called Adaine her ‘girlfriend’ she never got tired of it, would never lose the warm feeling that spread across her cheeks and settled deep inside her.

Despite her mild objections, Adaine allowed herself to be dragged along behind Fig, they ended up circling the same few tents twice before Fig found where she was and, still dragging Adaine behind her, bounded off in a new direction until, eventually they got to the curtained booth.

Thankfully it was empty and Fig pushed Adaine in before her, depositing the correct couple of coins and pressing a stiff button and diving in behind her girlfriend.

They broke into fresh laughter, holding each other up for support, as Fig crashed unelegantly onto the bench behind Adaine, they had no time to pose or adjust their tousled appearance, their hair and clothes wild and messy after running, before the first flash went off, neither of them looking at the camera as they tried to get their laughter under control.

“Ok, ok, nice one,” FIg managed, wrapping an arm around Adaine’s shoulder and pulling her into a close hug, both of them smiling at the camera, but a split second before the next flash came, Fig turned and pressed a kiss to Adaine’s cheek, making her girlfriend blush madly.

“Hey!” Adaine turned to her, giggling.

“What?” smirked Fig, “I didn’t do anything!”

Adaine raised her eyebrow and Fig immediately wanted to kiss her again but didn’t get the opportunity, as the other girl got there first, cupping Fig’s face gently and running her thumb in circles against her soft skin as she leant in and kissed her deeply.

Adaine pulled away, resting her forehead on Figs, grinning wickedly after the third flash went off.

For a few seconds they sat there like that, resting on each other, looking into the other’s eyes, ignoring the last flash until a pointed laugh from outside made them laugh yet again and they raced from the booth, Fig grabbing the strip of photos as they did.

It was a while later, after getting some very unhealthy food, that they managed to look at the results.

The first one had half of Fig’s face out of frame as she bent over, the laughter clear on the visible part of her expression, while Adaine was partially turned away from the camera.

The second, Adaine was blushing madly, her eyes wide as Fig pressed a kiss on her cheek which made Fig laugh even louder.

Adaine laughed at the third one in which she was kissing Fig squarely on the mouth, turning the tables and making Fig be the one to be visibly flustered.

The last one was, honestly, disgustingly sweet; the soft expression and relaxed body language as they gazed into each other’s eyes made them seem like the most lovesick fools ever.

Which, reflected Fig as she looked up at Adaine giggling at the strip with her eyes scrunched up adorably, might very well be accurate.
