Chapter Text
The last time they sat on a beach like this, it was a Hasetsu summer. Now, under the black sky and crystal-cold stars of a Russian New Year’s Eve, Yuuri’s and Victor’s breaths mist the air between kisses and laughter.
“What does yours say?”
Yuuri hunches his shoulders to hide the wish he’s writing from his nosy husband, carefully folding it and tying it to a paper lantern.
“Tend to your own wish, Vitya.”
Giggling and teasing, they tie their wishes to separate lanterns and light the burners within. In moments, the glowing orbs, one lavender, one blue, rise high into the sky. Victor pulls Yuuri close for a kiss, and lingers to rub chilly noses.
“Will you tell me now?”
Yuuri’s blush fairly glows in the darkness. “It’s an impossible wish, so there’s no point—”
Victor presses a finger to Yuuri’s lips. “If it wasn’t impossible, it wouldn’t be worth wishing for.”
Yuuri draws a deep breath, finds a smile. “Okay. I’ll tell you, but only if you tell me yours.”
Victor brightens. “Let’s say them together! Ready?”
“Ready.”
Together, they count down from three. Take a tandem breath, and set their wish free.
“A child with you.”
