Rainbow had pulled on her bomber jacket, she looked over to Twilight who had been sleeping in the hotel they had booked in Cloudsdale for a while. She chuckled shaking her head as she came over looking at the books surrounding her.
Typical, Rainbow had thought, looking over at the books, picking one up.
"how to fly." she laughed a bit before placing it down.
She hummed grabbing her boots, she opened the door closing it softly as she whistled, swirling her keys around her finger as she moved towards a flight deck.
They don't need any elevators in cloudsdale, why would they? Every floor had a flight deck, everybody knew how to use them. Well.. people with wings of course. But when they other mix of people came they'd break out the good ol' fashioned service elevator.
This was mainly when the holidays would be around. Rainbow hummed as she pulled on her boots, tying them tightly before spearing her wings, she crouched and once her wings had came down a gust of dust had blasted off with her.
She flew high, she always enjoyed the early mornings of Equestria, from her point of view it was like being a god onto of the world.
Her stomach grumbled. She gave a huff flying low, as she looked around to see anyplace that was open. "Jackpot.."
She leaned right, taking a dive before going into a free fall. In a split second she had opened her wings which made her glide in for a landing. She smiled as she moved towards the door. She always loved showing off even when others aren't around.
She opened the shops door being greeted by the owner.
"Oh Rainbowdash! How gave you been?" he asked moving over towards the coffee makers.
She gave a thumbs up. "Good, good, Stopping by to grab some breakfast for myself."
He chuckled. "The usual?" he asked moving over towards the donut shelf. "Yep! Strawberry and sprinkles, and make that 3, and uhhhh.. can I get two coffees?"
He nodded.
Rainbow had stood near the window watching as cloudsdale was coming to life, Wonderbolts had been walking the street going to their normal posts, regular's tending to opening their shops. He dinged the bell and Rainbow came over giving a smile.
"Thanks." she smiled and paid waving off as she moved towards the door. She opened her bomber jacket revealing some straps, she tucked the donuts in and soon started to fly in the air, she made sure to be careful with the coffee.
Hot things wasn't great especially in the air when it could fall on someone. After making it back she landed at the flight deck, moving back towards the long hallway of rooms. She opened the room door, seeing Twilight yawn, pulling on a sweater, before she groaned in annoyance.
Rainbow laughed. "Yeah.. your gonna need to buy new clothes that fit your wings."
Twilight jumped before relaxing. "Thats gonna be very annoying having to re-buy all my clothes."
Rainbow shrugged. "Or you can take them to Rarity have them altered, Princess Twilight."
Twilight looked over at her. "You know you can just call me Twilight right? Oh thank you." she smiled as Rainbow handed her the coffee. She took a sip as Rainbow set the donuts down.
"I mean come on Princess does add that little-" she turned around shaking her hands. "Put-zaz!" she laughed.
Twilight rolled her eyes giving her a smirk. "But in all seriousness..." Rainbow started.
"Its really fitting."
Twilight gave a warm smile. "Thank you Rainbow.."
Rainbow smiled. "No problem."
Twilight moved back over to her bag opening it to find some fitting clothes. "I think im gonna need scissors, I don't have any fitting clothes" she said annoyed.
"Well..- Hrmm..." Rainbow thought as Twilight turned around.
Rainbow raised her finger before frowning turning around to think. She turned back around. "How about we got get you a jacket... Cloudsdale is known for their flight jackets."
Twilight hummed. "Yeah, I wouldn't mind going out shopping!"
Well lets just say Twilight had to take the stairs down to the hotel floor, Rainbow waiting outside for her as she playfully pushed Rainbow when she had mocked her. Rainbow couldn't help but laugh.
Twilight and her walked to the coat store, well more like Rainbow flew on her back as her and Twilight talked about the new things they'd have to do once they'd make it back to Ponyville.
Rainbow and her made it to the coat store, Twilight was rather fond of the new coats, but moved over to the older coat section. Rainbow tried to push her back towards the new coats but Twilight had said something about older coats being her thing, since she wouldn't really be in cloudsdale she didn't find the value of the newer coats the same as the old ones.
Rainbow had rolled her eyes, but found a nice dark blue coat that had seemed to fit her well, it was an old school battle of the skies coat and Rainbow really wanted this for herself, but when she saw Twilight try it on it made her heart flutter in more ways than one.
Once done, Rainbow and her chatted while they walked to the Wonderboltz academy, luckily enough Spitfire had offered Twilight a flying lesson on Rainbows behalf.
Spitfire went over the simple rules of flying such as making sure her wings had been in check, that her clothes had been suitable for flight, and they do's and don'ts when free falling.
Twilight swore she'd never even try free falling but Rainbow nudge her to give it a try.
Once on the flight deck Twilight had looked over and stepped back quickly bringing her hands to her chest.
"T-thats- thats really high." she said.
Spitfire scoffed. "That ain't high princess this is beginner friendly."
Twilight shook her head. "At this height? A regular Joe like me would have been scared."
Rainbow watched as she folded her arms.
Spitfire had tried to get Twilight to fly but Twilight just couldn't after a good 30 minutes Rainbow-dash came up to them. "So how's it going?"
Spitfire looked over to her. "Well.. still trying to get her to step off."
Rainbow hummed coming over. "Alright Princess, spread your wings."
Twilight gulped doing so.
Rainbow came in-front of her. "Now, start flapping them."
Twilight did so in a slow motion and Rainbow nodded. "A little faster Princess."
Twilight got into a good pace that Rainbow light and gave a thumbs up. "Alright whenever your ready."
Spitfire groaned. "Look Rainbow I don't have all day, I have new cadets to teach, and I need her to fly or you need to leave." she said moving over to Twilight.
Rainbow scoffed. "Come on Spitfire.. shes a princess! She needs all the help she can get!"
Spitfire had placed her hand on Twilights back giving her a shove, Twilight had almost fell but with how hard her wings had been flapping she managed to keep herself.
"Well I'm a general and I need to get to work!"
Rainbow eyed Spitfire. "Thats a violation you know that right?"
Spitfire shrugged. "I run the damn school Rainbow, if you have a problem take it to the higher up's!""
Rainbow rolled her eyes. "You know- I don't know whats your problem, but what if she fell and we couldn't get to her huh!?"
Spitfire looked over to her with disgust. "As if I'd let my students fall, for fucks sake Rainbow Dash she obviously has a fear of heights!"
Rainbow moved forward pressing a finger on Spitfires chest. "You know we don't make fun of people who had fear of heights!"
Spitfire was about to yell something but her and Rainbow had herd a yell from Twilight as she was falling faster than anything that has fallen off Cloudsdale.
Rainbows heart sank as she jumped off the flight platform, Spitfire doing so as well, they had both raced to grab her but Rainbow wasn't having none of it she had caught up to Spitfire she grabbed onto her and used her to push off allowing her to fly faster, soon enough she had caught up to Twilight grabbing her by her jacket, using her strength to throw her up.
Twilight was falling back down but Rainbow caught her in an almost Bridal style. Twilight struggled as she felt the tears in her eyes, She tried to push away from Rainbow, but Rainbow pulled her close.
She allowed Twilight to upright herself.
Rainbow grabbed her by her waist, holding her by the small of her back as Twilight's breathing was hard.
Spitfire had flown down, looking at Rainbow Dash with worry moving to Twilight. "Is she okay??" Spitfire asked brushing her loose hair back.
Rainbow gave her the most angered look which made Spitfire back off.
"She's obviously not okay, how about you go get us some water, better yet- leave us be while I try to calm her down!" she shouted.
Spitfire growled out, flapping her wings hard, a gust of wind knocking into Rainbow.
Rainbow returned to tend to Twilight who whimpered, her heart racing.
"Jesus Twilight.. why didn't you open your wings back up again??."
Twilight shook her head grabbing onto Rainbows jacket pulling it hard.
"I- I can't do this I can't! I got scared, I got so scared- I froze!" she sobbed out.
Rainbow held her closer. "Don't ever say you can't Twilight." she said.
Twilight met her eyes. "I can't Rainbow- I just can't!"
Rainbow leaned in. "Yes you can!.. Its a process, you did better than most people do on their first fly, but you got scared, everyone gets scared, thats understandable." She whispered.
Twilight seemed to calm down at her words of Encouragement.
Rainbow hummed slightly lifting Twilight higher. Twilight held on high as Rainbow flew them to a more secure location amongst the clouds.
"Rainbow?" Twilight had asked as Rainbow sat her down on the clouds, Rainbow sat next to her.
"Princess Twilight..?"
Twilight eased up looking over to her. "Yes?"
"I've never told anyone this but, I fell from a really high height when I was younger." Rainbow rubbed her hands together. "I was mad that day.. I had a fight with Gilda, hell I even argued with my parents, and just, everything in the world came crashing down. I was crying, I couldn't even hold myself up, I just- I wanted to vanish."
Rainbow sighed out looking over at the horizon watching the sun set. "But.. at the last second I realized I was looking in all the wrong places for help and guidance." Rainbow looked at her. "So.. when I say everyone gets scared, it for one reason or another.. your not alone in this.."
Rainbow smiled placing a hands on hers. "We can take this as slow as you want, or as fast as you want."
Twilights eyes had sparkled, Rainbow moving off the cloud flapping her wings, as she took both of Twilights hands. "Don't worry.. I got ya'" she said.
Twilight gulped her wings opening as she slowly did the motion, flapping them slowly, she closed her eyes, seconds later she opened them as Rainbow grinned. "See? Your doin' it!"
Twilight gasped out. "I am doing it! Oh-"
Rainbow caught her. "Whoa there Princess!"
Twilight laughed as she held onto Rainbow flapping her wings. Rainbow smiled. "That jacket looks good on you."
Twilight gave a giggle rolling her eyes, a slight blush moving across her cheeks. "You picked it out silly."
Rainbow nodded. "I know..."
They had looked at each other for a moment before Rainbow leaned in kissing Twilight.
"Mmph-"
Twilight was surprised but her eyes fluttered close as her hands moved up to Rainbows face pulling them into a deeper kiss.
After what felt like moments in heaven Twilight pulled away Rainbow having to stop herself from chasing Twilight.
They stared at each other before Rainbow broke into a laugh Twilight doing so as well. Rainbow hugged her again. "Im proud of you Princess."
Twilight hugged her back.
